View Full Details of Barchester Highfield Care HomeMy mum moved in here a few weeks ago. She has settled in well and is so much better in herself since she has been there. The care home and surroundings are lovely, and there are plenty of activities going on for lots of different interests. Mum is very much treated as an individual and not a number, and all the staff are so caring and lovely with her. It was her birthday a few days ago so a few of us booked the private dining room and went for a really good Sunday lunch with her which made her birthday feel really special to her. We will be booking in for another Sunday lunch again in due course. Would highly recommend this care home, the manager and the team have been so welcoming and caring to not just mum, but us as family too and it's lovely she is getting all the care she needs
This home is in a beautiful setting. The accommodation and facilities are 5 star. Beautiful rooms, lovely furnishings and immaculately kept. But what makes this home exceptional is the kind, considerate and very supportive staff. It is a pleasure talking with them and knowing how much they genuinely care. Amazing!
The welcome was warm + cordial. The staff were kind + professional. The rooms + surroundings were spotlessly clean + tastefully decorated. We will definitely be using 'Highfield' again in the future for respite care with financial support from the council.
I cannot speak highly enough of my weeks respite stay. The facilities themselves were first class but it was the carers who stood out. Nothing was too much trouble. I was completely independent and did not require care but I was able to observe the manner of the staff towards the other residents and it was above and beyond. Patience, compassion, empathy no matter how cantankerous the resident! The kitchen staff did their utmost to accommodate tastes too. No negative experiences at all, highly recommended!
My mother in law stayed here for respite care and in her words it was like staying in a 5* hotel. She was very nervous about the stay prior to her going but afterwards admitted she was pleasantly surprised at how lovely everything was and how amazing the staff were. She loved the tranquility and enjoyed walking around the gardens. She said the food was varied and very tasty and that nothing was too much trouble.
This is my third 'respite' visit to Highfield. Each time I come I appreciate the care and the comfort of the home. It is always an enjoyable experience to escape the responsibilities of living alone and the pleasure of having company are the main benefits I gain from coming here. Highfield is beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated, surrounded by well tended gardens in beautiful countryside. Then to the staff unfailingly helpful and kind, nothing is too much trouble. At the weekend, shortage of staff with a lack of leadership, poor choice of activities will be sorted out. It very new. I enjoy the homely atmosphere and service. I will be back.
My father in law had , had a long hospital stay , and we decided that respite care is what he needed, the home is beautiful and the staff are helpful , friendly and knowledgeable, at the end of his stay he is so much better than when he left hospital , the care he has received has been amazing , he is now able to come home and get back to "normality "
I don't have much experience with care homes but having my grandma here has been the best decision. The staff are all amazing and have been truly wonderful. In every aspect. The building feels really nice to be in, it's lovely and clean but most of all, the friendly faces make the whole process easier. It's not easy having a loved one anywhere but their home and having my grandma here has made the whole process much easier. Knowing my grandma was really well looked after has meant the world.
From first contact, I was confident we had found the right place for Mum. Any child putting their parents into a care home will feel guilty but all the staff helped me and my sister to cope with it and gave us total confidence that we did the best by Mum. When I'm ready for care, I hope they will have a place for me.
Barchester Highfield Care Home residents and families/friends have had a lovely Christmas and New Year programme of activities throughout December. Coffee morning, family quiz, carols, services and some lovely visiting entertainers. The staff got behind the whole programme that the activities coordinator organised and all enjoyed the atmosphere this created with lovely decorations, food and drinks too! There was something for everybody and some great memories created for all. Highfield is moving from strength to strength and six months in, is developing well.
An extremely special place. The staff, care and surroundings were brilliant throughout. Everyone could not do enough for my father and our family. We will always remember what you did. You should be proud of yourself and your team. Thank you.
I moved my father to Barchester Highfield Care Home one month ago. Due to the fact he is struggling with his legs and walking, previous homes have placed him on the dementia floor or getting forgetful as he needs extra help. My dad is now on a floor with people he can talk to. Staff that engage with the resident and show real love and compassion. From my father not engaging in anything, he has now been painting, knitting and involved in the care home community. A different man and more strong and very happy. Thank you Highfield!
I don't know where you would go that is more perfect than this. It is in such a beautiful setting. The staff, from hostess to manager, are lovely. All staff are so caring and kind and make me feel part of Barchester Highfield Care Home. Myself and the other residents all seem to get on great. Much appreciate the extra help with myself and my disability.
My wife has just returned home from four weeks of respite care at Barchester Highfield Care Home, a most attractive modern home in a lovely location. The care given to my wife, who has the sad illness of advanced vascular dementia and Alzheimer's disease, was excellent. Even though my wife is immobile the carers hoisted her into a wheelchair to go for a bath, have her hair done at the spa-like hair and beauty salon, eat her meals with other residents in the lovely dining room and enjoy television in the lounge. When her sister came from Wales to visit her, we were treated to a three-course lunch in the visitor's dining room. On her last afternoon there, she joined members of her family in the sunny gardens at a barbecue provided by the home. If I was unable to continue caring for my wife at home. I would be happy for her to go to Barchester Highfield Care Home.
A very comfortable and calming experience with very pleasant staff, good food and high standard of cleanliness. A very attractive home with nice garden. Overall, very good.
The residential home is gorgeous and the facilities are superb. The staff are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Mum loved it and said that she would happily stay there again. Hopefully, when everything is up and running, there will be lots more activities for the residents to join in with, to complement the cinema room and the games room etc.
Highfield Lodge is like a five-star hotel. Mum had a lovely stay, and the staff were just great. My niece visited most days, and for a small fee, they could all have lunch with her in the lovely dining room, this was a wonderful touch of normality for Mum, she will be returning for respite again.
Excellent, caring staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Very welcoming and friendly. Inclusive, warm atmosphere. The best thing I have ever done, Mum said last week. Beautiful grounds, scenery and interiors. Peace of mind and comfort that Mum is in a safe and happy place.
Can heaven be better than this place? I doubt it. What a wonderful place, in a beautiful setting. The care is first-class, the staff are great and attend to everyone's needs. The facilities are exceptional, particularly the spa bath. What can I say about the food? Fine dining at its best, the two chefs work wonders every day. The ambience of Barchester Highfield Care Home is spectacular. I have no hesitation in recommending it.
