Following a fall, my mother needed respite care with nursing support while she recovered from a broken arm and foot. I called Leighton Rose and within two days they had assessed her in hospital and arranged her transfer. The speed and ease of the whole process took so much pressure off our family.
The facilities are stunning - it feels like a luxury hotel with full medical care in the background. My mother had a room on the dedicated nursing floor, giving her 24/7 assistance, but she could still mix with other residents once she felt up to it. The staff were warm, professional, and attentive, and she settled in quickly. I would wholeheartedly recommend Leighton Rose.

Mum and other residents I speak with have constant complaints about the food, lack of condiments, lack of variety and quality of vegetables. Just serving peas with almost every meal. Tasteless soup. The time taken for adjustments to meals leading to cold food. These issues are raised at every
relatives' meeting and we are told at residents meetings but they never seem to be addressed.
The staff seem very caring but oversight of housekeeping seems haphazard as room cleaning and bed making do not seem to happen all the time.
It would be good for residents to be taken for walks but the feedback we receive is that there are insufficient staff to do this. Since her arrival mum has put on a lot of weight and become diabetic. Better diet and more exercise might well have prevented this.
Overall we see Leighton Rose as safe but could do much better with catering and staffing levels.

My father-in-law has been a resident of Leighton Rose for a little over a year now, and although I haven't been able to visit often from Spain, we FaceTime twice a week. After our last call, I mentioned to my wife what a difference I'd noticed in him: he's more cheerful, socialises more, and is
getting involved in the home's activities with some enthusiasm. I assume that much of the positive change is due to the care and attention he receives from key staff members.

My Dad has been in Leighton Rose for just over a year now and although he was initially unsure about moving into a care home he has now settled in and happy. He has developed friendships and good relationships with the staff which has been lovely and has put our minds at rest. There has been quite a
turnover of staff which doesn't help some residents I'm sure but hopefully this will settle down. The activities seem to be increasing, as the home is filling up, which is positive but I think Dad would like more organised excursions as we move into the warmer months. The catering always seems to be brought up, by all the residents I have spoken to, as an issue but I know this is being addressed. Overall pleased that Dad is settled and special thanks to Kelly who supported us during Dad's transition from own home to care home.

My husband was in hospital for a month and our daughter-in-law spoke with Kelly about arranging Respite for him. Kelly then guided us through the rest of the procedure. It was the best thing for my husband. He didn't have to think about anything, it was all done for him, he could just re-charge his
batteries. His room was lovely plus as a step towards his independence he could use the wet room style shower in the spacious bathroom. It was lovely for him to socialise with his visitors in the lounge area and enjoy coffee/tea and a selection of cakes! All the facilities were first class as detailed in the brochure. All the staff were very pleasant, helpful and efficient. Thank you to the hairdresser who shaved off his month old beard! Special mention to Kelly for all her help in arranging his stay at very short notice and then extending his stay. Must also mention Sarah, Bonnie, Lisa and Barbara for their help. A very big thank you to Leighton Rose for helping my husband return home.

My father has been with Leighton Ross for 18 months. He has Alzheimer's. We have found all the staff very engaging friendly and supporting. The house is beautiful layout with many different areas for the residents to enjoy. The rooms are large and en-suite. There are 3 good meals each day with
drinks snacks and fruit available all day. There 2 activities planned each day which are diverse and fun for the residents to participate in. Before going to Leighton Rose my father hardly saw any one. Now there lots of people to engage with and has made some friends.
17 February 2026
After a sudden hospital admission my dad needed full time care. I contacted Kelly on the Monday desperate for a room for him, by the Thursday he was discharged from hospital and safe in the care of the Leighton Rose team. His room is modern and comfortable, he is very happy with the food and joins
in with the many activities on offer. His clothes are cleaned daily which is such a relief. All of the staff I have encountered are friendly and welcoming. There is a lovely warm atmosphere in the home. Thank you!

My mother has now been a resident of Leighton Rose care home for over 6 months. It's taken a while for her to settle, but we as a family have seen the difference in her. She is eating well and definitely seems less stressed with the world. Mum chooses to spend her time mostly in her room, but there
are plenty of activities if she chose to be more involved-hopefully that will come with time! The staff are very attentive and caring and always have a smile on their faces which is lovely to see.
16 February 2026
Warm and friendly. Staff very helpful at all times, but sometimes seem distracted, e.g., needing reminding to bring food/drink.
Room only hoovered once in a period of four days.
29 January 2026
Mum had excellent nursing care throughout her final illness and we felt very much supported as a family.
Leighton Rose staff were very caring and accommodating and the reception staff were always very helpful and friendly.
Management staff were extremely supportive and helpful, especially when my
mother's health deteriorated and she needed to be moved to the nursing floor.
Her room was comfortable and spacious and there were other areas where family could go and talk together, or take a break in the Bistro if needed.
It was a great comfort to know how well mum was being looked after.
Leighton Rose is a lovely, welcoming place and we are so glad that mum got to spend her final months here

Leighton Rose has provided a pleasant, peaceful and supportive environment for dad. Staff are friendly, helpful and polite.
The daily activities have given him a much appreciated opportunity to socialise, and friends and family that visit are reassured to find him looking so well.
26 January 2026
My husband has recently been made permanent at Leighton Rose.
It is comforting to know he is well cared for, is safe & secure.
The staff are always very welcoming & are happy to explain what is going on with his care. Any changes are communicated to me.

It has taken Mum a while to settle in at Leighton Rose but many aspects of life here are helping. She enjoys good relationships with the staff and the company of other residents. She appreciates the excellent facilities and environment and takes part in many of the activities provided. The Christmas
programme was particularly good.
The health care provided sees her fitter than before, though I feel that communication would improve if a family member was with her when decisions were made.
Mum is reasonably happy with the catering and enjoys the wine provided but feels that 5pm is much too early for dinner.
The home's response to suggestions and complaints has been mostly good. But housekeeping is sometimes a bit slack: breakfast things still not cleared away at lunchtime, tooth mug needing cleaning, for example.Mum has mentioned being treated like a child; staff really must be careful not to patronise elderly people. Lastly, bereavement counselling was mentioned but nothing has bee.

I live in Mallorca and am not able to visit my dad as much as I would like, because of my own domestic circumstances. However, Dad and I video call twice a week and I have seen such a positive change in him since he moved into Leighton Rose. I follow the home on social media and am impressed by the
range of activities offered for residents.
19 January 2026
My friend has now been in Leighton Rose Care Home for 3 months as a permanent resident. The staff, the building and facilities are all very good and up to the standard one would expect for the high amount it costs. But the food and kitchen services are NOT up to standard and on some occasions it
could be called appalling. This seriously needs addressing by management as it lets the whole place down. There, now you have it warts and all.
14 January 2026
My experience so far has been good or very good. Staff are approachable and respond to requests and ideas. Sometimes personal care isn't delivered because of staff shortages, but when delivered is good. Staff are kind and listen if I'm having down days, and can't sleep easily.
12 January 2026
Mum has been resident at Leighton Rose since the end of April 2025. She found it very hard to settle but staff were always welcoming, kind and friendly to her and us her family. Mum has built positive relationships with key members of staff and if this review was just about them it would be 5 star.
The facilities are great and as another review said it's like walking into a 4 star hotel.
The daily planned activities are great and everyone is encouraged to take part. Staff also work hard to organise special events like the summer and Christmas fairs, these are a great way of helping us to all feel part of the Leighton Rose community.
My only concerns are that housekeeping (room cleaning & laundry) have at times been an issue and that it isn't always easy to get through to LR out of hours. This could of course be down to staffing levels.
12 January 2026
Dad has been in Leighton Rose for nearly a year. As I believe is normal, he took time to settle in, having been fully independent before and feeling that he had 'lost his freedom'. However he is now happily living there and engaging with activities, something we had never expected him to do to be
honest as a very private person. As to the home, obviously it is a beautiful building with superb facilities . When he first went in they had some teething problems due to low numbers of residents (it hadn't long been open) and staffing issues. We have seen things vastly improve however and there is now a good atmosphere in the home and the staff are very kind, caring and friendly. We can only be impressed with the 'care response'when it's been needed. An example of improvement was the very extensive schedule of Christmas related activities and events, which were very professionally put together and managed. There is still progress needed on the catering but that should surely be fixable
09 January 2026
All "mod cons" with large airy bedrooms with en suite facilities. Melas are excellent, valued and well presented.
A very full programme of activities has been on offer this month, including "Christmas specials" from invited visitors - local schools/ charities whislt some visits to local venues
have also been included!
The care home is now a year old and we are sure it will continue to grow its reputation in 2026.
08 January 2026
My husband came to Leighton Rose care home for 2 weeks respite care as I was feeling overwhelmed dealing with his occasional faecal incontinence. He settled quickly and I was so pleased with his care that I extended his stay by another week.
Without exception the staff have been pleasant, friendly
and efficient. The food is appetising and varied. His clothes have been well looked after. The daily activities have kept him occupied and amused, particularly the karaoke.
I would recommend this home to everybody.
