Leighton Rose has provided a pleasant, peaceful and supportive environment for dad. Staff are friendly, helpful and polite.
The daily activities have given him a much appreciated opportunity to socialise, and friends and family that visit are reassured to find him looking so well.
Reply from Kelly Cox, Customer Relationships Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeWe are thrilled to have dad here with us. He is a real delight to have around, and he has settled in so well. Thank you for leaving such a positive review, the whole team are chuffed to bits with this feedback.

It has taken Mum a while to settle in at Leighton Rose but many aspects of life here are helping. She enjoys good relationships with the staff and the company of other residents. She appreciates the excellent facilities and environment and takes part in many of the activities provided. The Christmas
programme was particularly good.
The health care provided sees her fitter than before, though I feel that communication would improve if a family member was with her when decisions were made.
Mum is reasonably happy with the catering and enjoys the wine provided but feels that 5pm is much too early for dinner.
The home's response to suggestions and complaints has been mostly good. But housekeeping is sometimes a bit slack: breakfast things still not cleared away at lunchtime, tooth mug needing cleaning, for example.Mum has mentioned being treated like a child; staff really must be careful not to patronise elderly people. Lastly, bereavement counselling was mentioned but nothing has bee.
Reply from Kelly Cox, Customer Relationships Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to leave a review, and for providing this feedback. It is extremely useful, and allows us to address any concerns that we may not have been aware of. The issue relating to dinner time has been addressed with the residents. We are thrilled that on the whole, you have awarded us 5 stars, which is testament to the efforts of the team.

I live in Mallorca and am not able to visit my dad as much as I would like, because of my own domestic circumstances. However, Dad and I video call twice a week and I have seen such a positive change in him since he moved into Leighton Rose. I follow the home on social media and am impressed by the
range of activities offered for residents.

My friend has now been in Leighton Rose Care Home for 3 months as a permanent resident. The staff, the building and facilities are all very good and up to the standard one would expect for the high amount it costs. But the food and kitchen services are NOT up to standard and on some occasions it could
be called appalling. This seriously needs addressing by management as it lets the whole place down. There, now you have it warts and all.
Reply from Kelly Cox, Customer Relationships Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave us a review. It is very important to us that we receive honest and frank feedback to support with the improvement of our service. We are addressing the concerns you have raised over the food, but thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are however delighted to see that you have rated us 5 stars for Care & Support, Dignity, Cleanliness, Safety & Security, Staff, Dignity & Rooms.

My experience so far has been good or very good. Staff are approachable and respond to requests and ideas. Sometimes personal care isn't delivered because of staff shortages, but when delivered is good. Staff are kind and listen if I'm having down days, and can't sleep easily.
Reply from Kelly Cox, Customer Relationships Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you so much for taking time to leave a review, we are very grateful. We are pleased, that on the whole your overall experience is worthy of 5 stars, which is fantastic. We should pick you up on staff shortages, as we never run short of staff, but some days are certainly busier than others, never the less, this should not effect levels and quality of personal care, so we will look into this further.

Mum has been resident at Leighton Rose since the end of April 2025. She found it very hard to settle but staff were always welcoming, kind and friendly to her and us her family. Mum has built positive relationships with key members of staff and if this review was just about them it would be 5 star.
The
facilities are great and as another review said it's like walking into a 4 star hotel.
The daily planned activities are great and everyone is encouraged to take part. Staff also work hard to organise special events like the summer and Christmas fairs, these are a great way of helping us to all feel part of the Leighton Rose community.
My only concerns are that housekeeping (room cleaning & laundry) have at times been an issue and that it isn't always easy to get through to LR out of hours. This could of course be down to staffing levels.
Reply from Dionne Pearson, Registered Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you for your review. Staffing levels are reviewed on a weekly basis and increased inline with the needs of the residents, unfortunately out of hours phone calls, especially at peak times like medications rounds, sometimes are not answered as timely as in the day due to attending to the residents. We do review this on a regular basis and have installed the phone app on all devices so that all staff can answer the phones. There is a new head of housekeeping in post and on going monitoring of the housekeeping team. I will share your feedback with the concerned departments.

Dad has been in Leighton Rose for nearly a year. As I believe is normal, he took time to settle in, having been fully independent before and feeling that he had 'lost his freedom'. However he is now happily living there and engaging with activities, something we had never expected him to do to be honest
as a very private person. As to the home, obviously it is a beautiful building with superb facilities . When he first went in they had some teething problems due to low numbers of residents (it hadn't long been open) and staffing issues. We have seen things vastly improve however and there is now a good atmosphere in the home and the staff are very kind, caring and friendly. We can only be impressed with the 'care response'when it's been needed. An example of improvement was the very extensive schedule of Christmas related activities and events, which were very professionally put together and managed. There is still progress needed on the catering but that should surely be fixable
Reply from Dionne Pearson, Registered Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you for your review. The team appreciate all feedback and strive to improve on areas where this is required. Feedback will be shared with the catering team.

All "mod cons" with large airy bedrooms with en suite facilities. Melas are excellent, valued and well presented.
A very full programme of activities has been on offer this month, including "Christmas specials" from invited visitors - local schools/ charities whislt some visits to local venues have
also been included!
The care home is now a year old and we are sure it will continue to grow its reputation in 2026.
Reply from Dionne Pearson, Registered Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you for your kind review. Everyone had a good time over the festive period and the home has built on existing relationships with the schools which will continue through 2026.

My husband came to Leighton Rose care home for 2 weeks respite care as I was feeling overwhelmed dealing with his occasional faecal incontinence. He settled quickly and I was so pleased with his care that I extended his stay by another week.
Without exception the staff have been pleasant, friendly
and efficient. The food is appetising and varied. His clothes have been well looked after. The daily activities have kept him occupied and amused, particularly the karaoke.
I would recommend this home to everybody.

I have just had 14 nights in Leighton Rose and was so disappointed in the quality of the food! Everything was cheap, no butter, only spread, breakfast choice - 3 cereals, toast, only jam or marmalade, no honey, marmite if you were lucky! Cooked breakfast, only if ordered the previous day. Why not leave
a jug of milk on the table, so we can help ourselves, and also any sauces or condiments, the staff seem to put these on very sparingly. I don't want another wonky carrot or shrivelled up pea ever again. Same sandwiches for 2 weeks, with inedible crisps, covered in cling film - made earlier - soggy. Soups, whilst homemade, were tasteless, red pepper soup, not many peoples choice. A good dietitian is required for elderly folk, who need nourishment in their food. Many plates returned untouched. Not alone in these comments. No dessert one night, they ran out of chocolate sauce. Poor catering. This was an expensive experience for me.
Reply from Kelly Cox, Customer Relationships Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you so much for leaving us a review, it is so important to us that we receive honest feedback as this helps us improve our service. It is a shame that you did not raise these concerns with us at the time, as we could have addressed some of these issues fairly quickly. Cooked breakfasts have to be ordered in advance, so they can be prepared in advance, and there are always alternatives to sandwiches, you did not have to opt to have these everyday. Although Red Pepper soup is not to everyone's taste, the menu is shared with our permanent residents for comment before it is confirmed, and we've had no other objections to this particular flavour of soup. I am sorry the food had such an impact on your stay, but am pleased to see you have marked us well in other areas, which is very positive.

A fine establishment with very high standards of facilities and care and lovely staff doing their best to ensure all residents are as comfortable and well looked after as possible. If I have one suggestion it's that there might be a book or video available on the TV setting out details of services available
and the various routines involved as they affect residents.

My mother recently had 2 weeks respite care at Leighton Rose. She was very happy there and made to feel very welcome by all staff. They also made me feel very reassured about her care and welfare. She was able to join with many activities on offer and really enjoyed the interaction with other residents
and staff. A truly lovely setting and facilities. There is so much attention and detail to the needs of each individual which is so reassuring to the family at a time of need. My thanks to all concerned.

My sister recently went into Leighton Rose Care Home on palliative care. From the moment we went to visit for the first time, I knew it was where I wanted her to spend her final weeks. We were met by kind, smiling people and given a wonderful tour of a truly impressive home. Her room was luxurious and
she was made very comfortable. All the staff went out of their way to make sure she was well looked after and although she could not join the many activities organised, they were happy to bring, what was possible, to her bedside. The food looked, and smelled lovely. If she did not feel able to eat what was on the menu, they happily provided her with something else. She was made to feel part of the Leighton Rose community and everyone from housekeeping, to management, would take the time, whenever possible, to visit for a quick chat. It meant the world to her. The staff who were on duty on her last day were exceptional and we will be forever grateful.

Husband had 2 weeks respite in Leighton Rose. He didn't engage in the activity. He enjoyed staying in his room. The staff were very friendly and came to tell when meal time and he went to restaurant to eat. We would use Leighton Rose again.
Reply from Kelly Cox, Customer Relationships Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we are very grateful. I understand that it is tricky to form a clear opinion of the home based on a short respite stay, hence the lower marks, as well as the fact that your husband opted not to take part in too many activities, however I can see you have scored us 5 stars for Staff, which is fantastic & it means the world that you would use us for more respite in the future. Overall a positive experience.
Our main concern was the appearance of the grounds. The view from my mother-in-law's window was of a large area of weeds and thistles. It seemed as though this had once been planted up but appear never to have been tended since, as did the majority if the flowerbeds.
My mother-in-law commented on this many times. It was very disappointing for her. Such lack of maintenance does not constitute being 'nature friendly' or 'rewilding'.
Reply from Kelly Cox, Customer Relationships Manager at Leighton Rose Care HomeWe are very grateful that you took the time to write us a review. We have had a historic issue with the upkeep of the gardens, and it is unfortunate that your mother in law was only with us for a short period of respite, as we have been working hard to rectify the issues in the gardens. I do hope that if and when she returns for another visit, she will find them in a much better condition. Other than that, we are pleased, that on the whole she enjoyed a 5 star stay with us.

My mother recently became a full time resident following a short trial stay earlier this year. Because Mum had been living in the Channel Islands, arranging her move was logistically challenging, but the staff were incredibly accommodating, making both the trial and permanent move as smooth and stress-free
as possible.
It has been a difficult and emotional time for Mum and our family, but throughout the process, the team at have been consistently helpful and supportive. Their patience, understanding, and willingness to go above and beyond have made a real difference.
Just today, I witnessed a young staff member respond with great compassion and professionalism when another resident accidentally spilled hot coffee on himself. The way she immediately and gently cared for him, offering comfort and reassurance, gave me real confidence that my mother is in safe and caring hands.
I am truly grateful to all the staff for their kindness and dedication. Special thanks to the customer relations administrator for everything.

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 71 registered maximum number of service users is 14.2, which has been reached with 44 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manger Joined: 2025

I began my journey in the Royal Air Force as part of the Princess Mary's Royal Air Force Nursing Service. The values instilled in me during my training—discipline, compassion, and dedication—continue to shape my approach to care today.

For the past 19 years, I have devoted myself to the management of nursing homes, driven by a deep passion for elderly care. To me, these are not just workplaces—they are the homes of the people we have the privilege to support. My mission is to ensure that every resident receives the dignity, respect, and quality of life they deserve.

I have a particular commitment to providing compassionate end-of-life care, ensuring comfort and peace in a person’s final moments. More than that, I believe in creating meaningful opportunities for people in their later years, fostering an environment where they can continue to thrive, engage, and feel valued. Caring for others is not just my profession—it is my calling.
