View Full Details of Harbour Care CentreIn our opinion, when visiting Lorna, we have found the staff to be caring and very friendly, a lovely environment for residents to be in. The care home is always clean and well looked after. We can't thank you enough for the excellent care shown to Lorna. We would highly recommend this care home. The activities are well planned and second to none. Cath & Colin.
Very friendly staff. Excellent care and support.
My dad has been a resident here for just over 2 years. He has always been happy, and the staff are always kind and friendly. His fluctuating needs are always met with compassionate care, and he is always treated with dignity and respect. It is really nice to see friendly faces as his health has deteriorated, and it is good to know that he can stay in the same room regardless of his needs. He is much happier having continuity in his care, as am I. It is a lovely home with lots of lovely staff.
We are so pleased that we were lucky enough to find a room for Mum last year. The staff are all amazing, friendly, caring and very professional in their care of the residents and medical needs. Mum loves her room; it is perfectly set out for her to allow maximum independence. It is lovely to know that Mum is happy and feels at 'home'. It is Mum's choice not to join in too much. Although Sally tries hard.
Excellent. A very good service & very good staff.
More than satisfied with the care my wife is receiving. All the staff are very caring and deserve much praise.
Good to see the manager's door is always open and acknowledges you as you enter, along with the reception staff. I feel that it has been light on staffing in the mornings, getting everybody washed and dressed on occasion. Garden areas are excellent, and meals and outside activities are fantastic and well organised.
My partner spent the last few weeks of her life at Harbour Care being looked after with gentle respect. She had suffered from Dementia for quite a while, and because of additional medical problems that arose, she had spent periods in Hospital and two other Care Homes in the previous 8 months. No other facility had been able to make myself and her family confident that she was getting the best available care. Every member of staff that we met at Harbour Care, nursing, housekeeping and even the maintenance team were caring kind and considerate, not just to my partner but to us all, her visitors. It was a sad and difficult time for us, but we can look back on it with confidence that my she was made as comfortable as possible by people who knew how to do it and did it with compassion. Thankyou.
Mum has been in Harbour Care Centre since Jan 24. She has settled in really well, helped by bringing her own bed, bedding and personal items. The staff have been kind and helpful on all occasions, meeting mum's needs as her dementia worsens. There is entertainment and activities daily and where possible they are outside the home. All the family who visit mum have been impressed with the care and activities.
My grandmother has been a resident on the dementia wing for a little over 3 months and was very agitated when she first arrived. The first few weeks were a challenge but all of the staff were all very professional, caring and engaged with the residents very positively. I have been amazed that they have been able to get her to settle to the degree she has. When you first discover the cost of care it seems like (and is) a lot of money but I can see now why this is the case. Since arriving, she is in better health and happier than I have seen her in some time. Thank you to all of the team at Harbour Care.
Dad has been at Harbour Care Centres since August. It has been very difficult for us as a family to witness his progression of Alzheimer's. However, dad seems to have settled into Harbour Care really well and is content. The staff are all lovely and do a really good job of supervising dad. Whenever we visit, we are made to feel welcome and always offered a tea or coffee. Dad's room is always clean and tidy. The communal lounge looks lovely with all the Christmas decorations. We are really pleased with the care that dad is receiving.
My husband has been in Harbour Care Portishead home since September 2023 with Alzheimer's. I cannot praise the staff and management team enough for their care and understanding of his individual `diverse needs`. The hands-on staff are tuned in to his needs, and having been there in his room when he needs changing/settling there is a lot of happy banter and distraction to settle him. Special thanks to one member of staff in particular - you sort him out! Amazing Care Home.
Good experience. I am looked after and am very comfortable. The staff are kind and friendly. I can go out with members of my family or friends and I do not feel "institutionalised!"
Dad has been here for nearly 12 months and has settled very well. The staff are all so friendly, sympathetic and caring. They look after Dad well and monitor his health closely and give me updates immediately. The food is homecooked and Dad enjoys his meals. It's great to be able to see all the different activities that are offered, Dad is happy here and the family are so pleased.
Mum passed away recently. She had resided for approx 6 months. In that time she made some special friends and got on so well with the staff. She really connected with a number of them especially five of them in particular. She spoke fondly of waiting to return to see them and her friends when in hospital. The manager has also been a great support, he is a very compassionate and empathetic leader. Thanks so much.
My mother came to Harbour Care Centre for some respite care after a fall. She was really well looked after by the carers. The food was good and the activities lady was brilliant. The care home manager was also very helpful and caring.
My mother-in-law has been a resident for a year now and today was her 92nd birthday. She had only been in a few days and they made a birthday cake for her. Today we joined her for lunch which was excellent and for which there was no charge plus they made a delicious cake. We cannot fault her care and how she is being looked after. I have recommended it to a friend and her mother will become a resident next week.
This was Mum's third care home, and the well-being of my mum was the most important to me. Harbour Care was the first home to listen to me as a daughter and main carer. All the staff are lovely and show kindness and care in all they do. Every staff member got to know Mum well, as they read the care plan and know her needs. I was most impressed by the manager being a nurse and hands-on member of staff. The management of Mum's seizures was perfect. In fact better than the hospital. Their home-cooked meals there are yummy and Mum loved her food. Knowing my mum was in this loving and caring home, flushed all my anxiety out the window. I would recommend this home to anyone.
I have never left my husband in respite care previously over the last ten years of his dementia condition so it was a very traumatic decision for me to agree to doing so, so that I could take a break with my daughter. I cannot commend enough the staff we met personally and spoke to over the phone whose kindness and reassurance enabled me to relax while I was away. My anxiety and upset when settling my husband in on the first day were helped enormously by the lovely staff there on the day including four in particular. One member helped with the medication and instructions I had prepared which she read and checked all she needed to know. Her kindness and lovely manner to me as well as my husband was wonderful. Visitors to my husband reported the same professional, kind and courteous staff I had experienced. The care centre was clean and welcoming and my husband's room was lovely for the short time he was staying.
Very happy with Mum's care at Harbour Care Centre. Mum is very settled and happy. She is encouraged to join in activities and enjoys this very much.
