View Full Details of Charlton Grange Nursing HomeI really can't recommend Charlton Grange highly enough. My father-in-law has been there for 11months and in all that time we have never had reason to be concerned about his care or doubt that we chose the right home for him. The manager is wonderful as are all her staff, whatever their role within the home. There are no restrictions on visiting times and whenever we've been, whatever the day and time, it is immaculately clean both in the residents private rooms, the communal areas and the corridors. Security is excellent with every exterior door being operated by a key code pad so that the residents can't wonder out onto the road. The staff are so attentive though and there are always plenty on duty so to be honest, I don't think anyone would get as far as the road without it being noticed that they'd gone. If you are looking for this type of care for a friend or loved one, then I really do suggest that you at least have a look around Charlton Grange. You won't be disappointed!
My nan was admitted to Charlton Grange and the meeting and show around by the manager was very informative and friendly before she arrived. Rooms are nice and lovely, can bring in home comforts and make it special for them. Meal choices are excellent, laundry service good all staff amazing and helpful. Best of all are the amazing activities they provide and the activity leader provides great entertainment. My nan has participated in dice games, word searches, baking, gardening and singing. Also has a minibus to take them out to gardens and has visited the local garden centre. The physio lady is good. Definitely recommend.
Wonderful, caring, kind, professional staff.
I can't speak too highly of thie care home. The (mainly) young carers treat the residents as if they are family. This is from the management all the way down.
I have been visiting my wife here for almost a year. I come at lunchtime every Wednesday. The staff always welcome me when I arrive and make me feel comfortable. They provide us with a table in the dining room so that we can hav lunch together My wife at all times is clean and tidy
Value for money is very difficult to answer, of course I understand what it costs to run a him, but I can't support the system of how we pay. Out of family money when my mum was told she had to have 24 hour care because of choking. She will run out of money next year. The government should pay.
Mum is very happy and the staff are all very good.
What to say but that the day we found Charlton Grange for my relative we have not looked back, staff & facilities were good from the start but following recent upgrades are even better, most of the staff remain the same from when residency started 2.5 years ago and they are amazing, always a smile and a chat for residents and relatives alike. Every effort is made to provide full entertainment and little trips out whenever possible. I would not hesitate to recommend Charlton Grange even more so now with the new management change.
I found the care home very clean and the staff very friendly, also the food was very good.
My auntie is very happy and content here. She is engaged and active daily if she wants to but equally, she is able to rest and have quiet times if she needs it. The new management is much more proactive and hands-on and this is being reflected by staff also.
My mother has been a resident since February 2024. It was a challenge for her to be in a home when all she wanted to do was go "home". Every member of the team has been welcoming, empathetic and genuinely interested in making her feel welcome. This obviously helped the wider family be reassured that this is the best place for her.
This care home is badly managed. Since I chose this home for my father two months ago I have experienced very poor communication issues. Had to constantly request documents such as dad's care plan, which was woefully inadequate. And wasn't even given a contract, until I insisted on seeing one. Then I was reluctantly provided with a blank contract. The homes state they are suitable for residents with challenging Dementia behavior. Yet my Father has managed to abscond three times. The home has breached their duty of candour as I wasn't even informed of this till the third time it happened. Very poorly managed and to be honest, unsafe care.
After looking at several care homes in our local area we chose Charlton Grange. It has proven to be the ideal choice. My Mother-in-law receives the best care that we could ask for. The hard-working and friendly staff are compassionate and considerate towards her. It is also a great help that the home does not use agency staff so that Mum gets to see the same familiar faces. I couldn't recommend this care home highly enough.
My mother was looked after extremely well during her time at Charlton Grange and was always treated with care and compassion. Considering she was unable to move from her bed without assistance, there were no more incidents of UTIs or any pressure sores, which is quite remarkable. My mother was able to join in with various activities in the first few years, but latterly less able to do so, but the staff still involved her as much as possible. When I was visiting, I was always offered tea and cake (which tasted great too). The home generally smelt clean and fresh and there is a lovely atmosphere throughout. I have recommended Charlton Grange to other people, as I believe it is a great, safe and caring home.
My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's early in 2022. After being cared for at her house with the help of agency carers/nurses, on the recommendation of carers of wives in a similar situation to ours, I arranged for my wife to become a resident at Charlton Grange - a decision I have never regretted. Despite her increasing illness and communication difficulties, all members of staff at Charlton Grange are always friendly, kind and considerate, right up to her leaving in February 2024.
My wife was a resident for over three years until she died on the 5th of November. I cannot speak highly enough of the carers and management whose care and support were unwavering throughout. I would unhesitatingly recommend Charlton Grange.
We had previously looked at this home but had discounted it. Following a management/leadership change, we looked again and couldn't have been more surprised with the changes that had taken place in such a short time. Caring staff, an excellent nursing team and a great doctor. Management team are engaged and really do put in a shift.
We went to visit our friends, only to find that the care home had organised what they call a carnival day. It was extremely well-organised with drinks and a barbecue, singer and a children's entertainer. Unfortunately, we had to leave early, but we are sure that the residents wold have had a great time. Activities were great on that day, but we cannot comment for other days.
Lovely afternoon for the carnival family weekend. Staff were lovely.
As a family, we are extremely happy with my mother's care, she is happy and content. Staff have gone over and beyond for my mother and supporting our family. I would definitely recommend Charlton Grange to family and friends.
