My father, Albert, was a resident at Lee Valley Care Services, and I
feel compelled to share my experience so that other families are aware
of the serious concerns I have about this home. During his final three
months there, my father suffered three major falls, each resulting in a
hospital admission. Despite his known mobility issues and the fact that
he is registered disabled, he was placed in a room on the first floor
with stairs that he struggled to navigate. The environment itself is
unsafe, with uneven floors, trip hazards, and insufficient safeguards to
protect vulnerable residents from falling. Beyond safety, the standard
of cleanliness and personal care was unacceptable. My father often came
home dirty, unkempt, and smelling strongly of urine. His clothes,
bedding, and personal items were in such poor condition that I had to
throw everything away and buy him new clothes. No one should ever have
to endure this, least of all elderly people entrusted to professional care.
