View Full Details of Cooper HouseThank you , NO A BIG THANK YOU! After looking after my husband at home with a number of ailments for years , we had to make the decision to look for a care home for my husband , because his Dementia was so bad , I unfortunately had to decide on a home for him. He is now in Cooper House , is settled , and very well looked after. It makes the life of all our family so much easier , because we know he is in a caring , safe environment . Each visit we make confirms , that we chose well with Cooper House. The staff is very friendly , helpful and there when we have questions or need reassurance. We are promptly informed , if there has been an incident like a fall for example, because this can not be avoided as I know from my care time for my husband at home .
My Mum had a medical emergency in the early hours of the morning and was tended to by the most amazing, caring, professional and attentive health care professional Emma. From what I understand she started work at 8pm for her shift and was still there at 11am the next day still caring for Mum. Making the heart wrenching decision to move Mum into a Care/Nursing home is something we are still struggling with, but, knowing she is being looked after by people like Emma takes a huge amount of the guilt away. She really went above and beyond for Mum and looked after her as though she was her own mum. Thank you
I was very pleased with the care my mum was given while she was in Cooper House. The staff couldn't have been more caring and sympathetic to her and the other residents. I have to give a special mention to one of the carers, who showed me understanding when I was getting upset. There was another member of staff whose name I unfortunately can't remember, but she attended my mum's funeral with another member of staff who was also very kind. Yes, Cooper House is an excellent care home!!
My dad was in Cooper house for respite care unfortunately he passed away last week, I would like to thank all the staff for for the loving 24 hr care they gave to my dad, I know he was being looked after properly and meals that were all home cooked, i am so grateful to.you all
The Cooper House a nice place to be. The staff are very nice.
Really happy with the care my nana is receiving.
Have observed my brother's care over many months, which he receives on a 1 to 1 basis, 24hrs. I consider that the staff do a sterling job in looking after him. The family are very grateful.
There seems to be a shortage of staff. Residents are often left in the day lounge unsupervised for long periods of time. On the rare occasion there is a member of staff in the lounge they are often preoccupied on their mobile phone rather than interacting with residents. I often visit my mother and do not see a member of staff at all during my visit or have to go hunting for someone to help other residents. There are a small number of lovely, dedicated staff but there are some who are quite rude and abrupt with both residents and visitors. The dining room is often dirty and not set for meal times. I feel that the activities/entertainment is poor and there appears to be a lack of stimulation for residents. I would like regular updates on what activities my mother has been involved in. I would suggest some nice background music in the lounge. The home looks run down and needs investment in decor and furnishings. I have seen no improvements since Strong Life Care took over in Jan 2025.
Had to request Dad to be bathed as he was smelly. When his feet swelled, I asked for doctor to come and have a look and his legs became very hot and swollen and sore, and the doctor said for Dad to elevate his legs. I still wasn't happy, so I persisted, and then 2 days later, a nurse and another doctor said he had cellulitis and needed antibiotic cream. This should have been prescribed at the first notification, thus causing unnecessary discomfort.
Not enough supervision eating and drinking also with his trying to persuade him to join in the entertainment and go to the dining room for meals.
My dad is lovingly cared for at Cooper House. I know he is kept safe - the staff go over and above to do this and care for his needs - from carers - nurses - management team. They are also there for us as a family which means so very much. Dad is happy, feels secure, I couldn't ask for better people to care for him 24/7.
Fabulous care home there is not much else to say. Everything is excellent.
A nice out look from most rooms specially at the back were the hens are and the plants. Could do with some warmer weather. Plenty of entertainment from the residents in the lounge all told a good home to live and visit in.
Because of Covid restrictions it is hard to review, but I can say in my experience so far this year the staff have been very caring. The new manager has made very friendly changes for family to keep in touch with their residents.
