I originally left a 5 start review after only 3 weeks of my wife's stay at Cannon Court, however by June 2025 I had completely changed my opinion. In January 2025 my wife had an incident which was described by staff as a 'fall' (although this was unwitnessed). She has a broken nose, badly bruised
face and swollen eye, 12 staples in the other side of her head and severe bruising to her neck (both sides). On arrival at the A&E department in Hospital the doctor asked how she had come to get the injuries and when I said potentially as a result of a fall, she was shocked and stated the injuries were 'not consistent with that of a fall'. My wife suffers from dementia so she could not describe what happened to her. An investigation concluded that there was no witnesses to whatever occurred so it was 'more than likely' a fall! My wife's behaviour was difficult for staff to control and she had regular outbursts but the CH were aware of this and accepted her as a resident.

This is my 1st personal experience of a permanent care home. If this is the standard and level of care and support it is a credit. I admire your staff how they treat the residents with dignity and respect in every situation.

into Canning at very difficult time.

When it comes to individual departments, they are very professional, not only to residents but to relatives as well. I am very well informed, along with my family, about my brother's health, medication and moods. I am kept well informed of any changes in his moods and care.

I am very pleased with the care my husband receives at Canning Court, it's evident that the staff have taken the time to get to know him and recognise his character and personality, they speak warmly about him which is so reassuring. There is a lovely calm atmosphere. The activities are so important
for the residents and it's great to see him engaging with these when I visit and reassuring to see him taking part in these when I'm not there through social media photos. The meals are also of good quality with lots of encouragement for him to eat, which is a positive as his appetite has decreased as his illness has progressed.

When visiting our friend in the care home, my husband and I have always been very impressed with the calm atmosphere, the attention paid to residents by the staff and the patience shown by all of the staff. We visit 2-3 times each week and are welcomed by name, often by more than one of the carers.
Whenever our friend (the resident) rings the bell, it is answered quickly and the carers are always reassuring. It is a pleasure to visit and we feel like 'one of the family'.
