Reviews

7.1 Canning Court Care Home has a Review Score of 7.1 (7.088)

The Review Score of 7.1 (maximum of 10) for Canning Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4 out of 5 from 9 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Canning Court Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.01 for Canning Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (38 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (9 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 104 Ratings = 4.01

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.078 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Canning Court Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 = 3

    2. Target of 12.8 positive Reviews (64 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 1 Reviews ÷ 12.8 Target = 0.078

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Moved our mother into Canning Court Nursing Home in early 2016 (she is 85, diagnosed Alzheimers). She had previously been in a care home in Alcester. The team are great. Our mother is happier at Canning Court - she is eating better, she is cleaner, she has made new friends and she gets more stimulation.

Took a while for my mother to settle in. Staff seem very friendly. Facilities okay, would like to see more residents outside getting some fresh air occasionally. Need to keep relatives informed about hospital appointments etc more. On the whole, a good service.

Having looked at several homes for my Aunt we were delighted to find Canning Court. We were shown around by very helpful and friendly staff making a difficult decision much easier for us.

My Aunt has now been in the home for several months, she has settled and appears to be looked after extremely well.

It is a great comfort to know that she is safe and is being cared for by caring staff.

Canning Court is an excellent care home which has looked after my mother extremely well in the 3 1/2 years she has been a resident at the care home. My mother has dementia and Canning Court specialises in the care of residents with dementia. They have been especially good in adapting as her condition worsens over time. They are very proactive and always looking ahead to the next phase of care. When I was looking for a care home for my mother I looked at many care homes and none gave me the same good feeling as Canning Court.

The only downside is the cost. I know all care homes are expensive, but Canning Court is at the very top end of the scale and as such my mother's quite substantial funds soon disappeared and she has moved onto Council Funding. It is worth saying that that change of funding has had no impact on quality of care.

Even allowing for the costs I know I made the correct decision to choose Canning Court and as such would have no hesitation in recommending Canning Court.

My mother has been a resident at Canning Court since it opened. In that time, the manager has changed several times and staff have moved on. I have been in discussions many times about the care of my mother which in the past was to say the the least, challenging. Both from the care and communication with members of staff and management.
Over the past 2/3 years things have improved in both these areas. The nurses, carers, cleaning staff and catering have improved. They are all hard working. Caring and open to discussion. Some have worked at Canning Court for several years and they are a welcome sight. The staff seem to have a good working relationship and it shows in their easy caring manner and sense of humour.
Improvements are slowly taking place and I believe that Canning Court is a comfortable and often comforting place to live.

My first positive dealings with Canning Court were when my family had to choose a home for my mother to go in to. At two homes we were told to make appointments but at Canning Court we were told to just turn up, which we felt was a very good sign and that they were not going to put on a show for us. We are also able to go and visit anytime day or night which gives us confidence with her care.
The staff are also very helpful but we do have our favourites, the ones where I have turned up unexpectedly and have been outside her room and I can hear them singing to her while she is being fed or changed and it is very reassuring to know that she is in such caring hands.
I'm not saying we haven't had the odd problem but whenever we do, once it is reported it is dealt with.

My husband has been a resident in Canning Court for 16 months. We liked the home because of the amount of space; my husband paces a lot and there is plenty of space for him to walk freely. There are also several lounges. so plenty of places to sit comfortably when family and friends visit and residents have plenty of choices of where to sit and relax. My husband has a poor appetite and the staff do all they can to encourage him to eat, he has often needed help eating and there has always been a member of staff to sit with him for as long as it has taken to feed him. They also ensure he drinks plenty through the day as he would forget if not prompted.
We are always kept informed of any worries the staff have about his health and well-being and are always informed of any concerns they have, and are then involved in discussions about what can be done to improve things for him. On occasions when he has not been well, we have quickly been informed. The local GP regularly visits and comes promptly when some one is ill. The staff are always willing to listen to any concerns, and are also ready with a shoulder to lean on and a cup of tea when needed.
It is a very difficult time for anyone having to put a loved one in a home. The staff at Canning Court helped us through the difficult first few weeks and have continued to be there to support the whole family and make my husband's life as good as it can be.

Went in to visit a very good friend with a family member, who like me, thought the actual place is lovely, but where were the carers ? 3 were in one ladies room, just stood talking, one of them was just sat watching TV with the resident all the time we were visiting .... we had to ask someone to change our friends incontinent pad as it was seeping through his trousers.. my question is HOW LONG WOULD HE HAVE BEEN SAT IN THAT STATE , had we not gone to visit. The person I went with cried because this is the first time she has been to visit him... not a good impression..
