View Full Details of Preston HouseI am very happy for my father to be cared for at Preston House. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, they treat my dad with respect and dignity and meet all his needs. If there are any issues I am always informed by the manager or staff. My dad is settled and happy. Keep up the good work.
The staff are always approachable, friendly and helpful. I see that they are hardworking, show a caring and compassionate attitude for my mother. The staff deserve an increase in their salary for the endless help they give my mother and for the other residents and their families. When my mother was able, she always looked forward to our resident entertainer who comes on a regular basis. She liked to sing with the microphone. A very good experience of a care home which shows love for others.
My mother has been residing in Preston House for a year now. Her health, and mobility has improved so much during this time, and is flourishing due to the dedication and care she receives. My Father was diagnosed with end stage kidney disease, , and wanted to be with his wife in his final weeks. Preston made this happen. Again the dedication from the staff and Manager was second to none, and made his final weeks and days as comfortable as they could be. He was a complex man, with complex care needs, which the Care Home took in its stride. I cannot thank Preston House enough to allow them to be together til he passed. The Manager, and her team definitely care from the heart. My mum continues to have the best care, in my opinion, and I never feel worried about the care provided to her. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
My Mum was a resident at Preston House for 5 years before she passed earlier in 2025. I live 500 miles away and my brother is in Australia. The level of respect, care and love received by my Mum meant gave us confidence that she was very well looked after. The Manager is tireless in ensuring the best care for residents and her team are excellent. I felt so well supported, which was so important as I live so far away. I can't thank the team enough for everything they did for my Mum.
My husband moved in five weeks ago, he has settled in well. Massively improved in mobility and independence, eating well and appears to enjoy activities. Very happy so far. Staff are very friendly and helpful. If I had anything negative to comment on, from his point of view, he can't sit and watch out the window anymore unless he went to the ground floor. Windows in his room and lounge on 2nd floor they are too high to sit and watch out, he used to love sitting by the window watching the birds and squirrels at home.
Preston House is kept to the highest standard of cleanliness. The staff are very people-centred in dealing with residents and visitors. I take pleasure in knowing that the staff know at all times where my mother-in-law is, she is very mobile and likes to walk along the corridor to the communal area and her room. The activity coordinators give the resident all their individual need.
My brother has been a resident at Preston House for over 2 years. I live 500 miles away but never worry about him as I know he is well cared for and treated with dignity. The care he receives reflects his changing needs. I contact the home very regularly and feel very well supported myself.
Preston House is a truly superb care home. My mum had been a resident there for the past few years after coming from another care home which was terrible until she passed away at the start of April. She had a severe stroke in 2018 and was paralysed down one side so needed full time care of two people. Her room was lovely and clean and the manager well what can I say. She leads by example and is amazing at her job and all her staff were fantastic at looking after my mum. I can see why they get good reports from the care Commision as they go above and beyond. As my mum was entering her last few days the staff would sit with my mum as I couldn't be there all the time as my husband also has had a stroke so I am his carer at home. I felt really upset that I felt I couldn't be with my mum at the end but the staff made sure she was not in pain and kept her settled and I will be forever grateful for that. The manager again you and your staff are amazing !!!!
My mum has been in Preston House for almost four years, and she is receiving excellent care there. The staff are all extremely helpful and the positive attitude of every single person who works there makes for great cohesion. Every one of them contributed to making my mum's hundredth birthday unforgettable. A big thank you to the entertainment team. A big thank you to the chef. My mum often comments on the excellent meals, and her birthday cake was amazing. A big thank you to the gardener who has created such a beautiful environnent for the residents and their visitors to enjoy. Don't change a single thing. Just continue doing what you do so well.
Our Mum moved into Preston House in August 2021 when, thankfully, the covid restrictions were lifting. I found it very stressful but the staff, especially the manager, settled her in so well. She had a lovely sunny room looking on to the beautiful garden. Her room was always clean and tidy. Sadly she passed away last week but I want to thank every member of staff for the love and respect they gave her even when she was a challenge in the early days. She was quite a character. We will always be grateful that her last years were happy ones.
My mum came into Preston House 2 years in June and has inproved so much, she is happy, well, and very much cared for. All staff are so friendly and caring nothing is a problem to any of them, and the manager keeps everyone in line, she is strict but in a good way, if you have a problem or concern, she is on it straight away, (and that is the way it should be). Its been very hard for me to except mum being in a home, but it was the best thing for mum and thats what matter, so glad she is at Preston and I no she is happy and safe.
The staff and management are considerate and responsive to my relatives changing needs. Based on my relatives medical needs they provide expert care and nursing.
My wife has a good sized ensuite room with plenty space for visitors. The staff are welcoming and approachable and have a good understanding of my wifes needs. The level of care and support is good and there is a homely feel to the environment. There are trips out and celebrations days that are well-planned and good fun for everyone.
I always enjoy visiting my gran at the home. I often bring my dog and he is always made welcome but the residents and staff. My gran loves it here as she "gets her washing done and all her meals". There is always someone about if we have any questions or need some help.
I communicate well with the carers. They treat me with respect and talk to me, not down to me, that is good. They listen if you have any problems and try to help and sort them out.
My brother became a resident in Preston House in May 2024. The building and individual rooms are attractive, well-maintained and very clean. The grounds are beautiful and offer lovely outside seating areas. Staff are friendly and nothing seems too much bother for them. The nursing staff are knowledgeable and always discuss any changes to the care plan to ensure that relatives are kept well informed. I have seen a remarkable change in aspects of my brother's well-being due to the attention given to meet his specific needs. The manager maintains a very visible profile on the site. She is approachable and has good knowledge of the residents and their families. There is a wide range of activities available for residents. In conclusion, Preston House staff go the extra mile and give me confidence that my brother is being well looked after and his needs are being well met- A big thank you to all who contribute to his care.
I wrote a review for Preston House in April 2023 shortly after my husband moved in, saying how happy I was that I had chosen this Care Home and I feel exactly the same some 16 months later. The rooms and public areas are kept beautifully clean and tidy. There is also a really pretty garden area where residents and their friends and family can sit out. The food looked very tasty with a selection of dishes for each meal. There was also tea and coffee with biscuits and cakes served regularly. There are a number of activities planned for the residents - crafts, day trips and concerts. What makes this Home so special however is the manager and all the lovely staff who were so helpful, kind and patient and looked after my husband so well during his time in Preston House, especially so in his final days. Towards the end, someone would sit with him so he was never alone. That was very comforting for me and I can never thank them enough. I would certainly highly recommend Preston House.
When visiting my friend with his wife on a few occasions I always found him in excellent care. Very friendly and professional staff at the time of my friend's death. He was treated with great care and dignity also his wife was cared for at a very difficult time. I would recommend Preston House.
The staff need more training on how to handle a service user with complex needs. Simple measures like talking to them and not down to them. Listening and not talking over them. Not getting into their personal space. Too many agency staff who don't know the specific needs, e.g. my mum only had top teeth and no one knew this and gave her inedible food. The nurse in charge needs training in communicating with family to show empathy and not anger or arrogance. Kicking my mum out after 9 days shows they don't have the skills in this home to look after anyone. Since this have heard so many bad stories about this home.
The entrance to Preston House is excellent. Information board with notice of events sure to take place and updates on relevant issues etc. Locked inside door operated from reception and signing in on entry, makes for a good feeling of security. The pleasant fresh smell on entry and always a welcome greeting from staff. The home looks and feels warm, clean and friendly. Our relative's needs are well taken care of and for that, we are 100% thankful. The outside garden area is well laid out and cared for, good, secure and nice place to sit and enjoy good weather when visiting.
