View Full Details of The Manor House Barnard CastleMy aunt lived in Manor House for five years on the dementia unit. The lounge areas and corridors are beautifully decorated and there is a bar where visitors can take residents for coffee and cake or a drink. There are also lovely garden areas where residents can sit out. It is very clean and comfortable. Best of all are the staff who always have time, always have a smile for residents and visitors and never appear to be impatient. My aunt's physical health improved enormously when she moved in there. Sadly she recently passed away but was never alone in her final hours, people were there talking to her, playing music and letting her know that she was cared for.
My Mother has been cared for for nearly 8 years in Chester's Unit at Manor House I am a medical professional and visited for work and was immediately impressed by the warmth of welcome, the knowledge staff had of the resident and the exceptional care afforded I immediately enquired if there was a vacancy for my Mother and was delighted when she was offered a room Mum took a long time to accept her new home despite enjoying the good food and comfortable surroundings including the cafe for shared visits. One staff member and team showed exceptional patience in guiding her to settle The simply outstanding care given over the years by an exceptional team from the Leadership of one staff member to the administration staff cleaners and handyman was remarkable and gave the family great comfort Mum was safe ,content often happy despite her Dementia and enjoyed company and food until very shortly before her death in July She was nursed with the greatest respect and dignity and words cannot describe my thanks.
My sister moved into The Manor House 4 months ago and has settled very well. I live a distance away and so am unable to visit as often as I would wish, but this is compensated for by the fact that I can speak to the team leader and my sister at any time. The team leaders are also prompt at communicating with me if needed. I find all of the staff very welcoming when I visit and nothing is too much trouble. They are very caring and I feel confident that my sister is being well looked after and that she is safe and secure in their care.
Aunt has been living here for over 3 years and absolutely loves it. She is very happy here and the care she receives is excellent. My aunt's room is always clean and tidy and she enjoys the activities provided. She has gained weight due to the excellent choice of food. I have peace of mind knowing she is cared for so well.
I have been visiting my partner most days over the last three months. In all that time the staff have been brilliant. Courteous, caring and welcoming.
Our cousins were booked for respite care while one was going for an operation. The staff were very friendly and professional and were able to help with any request/concern made of them in a caring and diplomatic way. Unfortunately I'm not able to answer to the quality of the food or activities but our elderly cousins thought that Christmas Day was excellent.
My nana has been in the home for a few years now, she has dementia but this has been a lot more stable since moving here. She is always doing activities and has even been to Harrogate to another care home to do a Christmas cake competition. Her room is always clean and the staff are always very friendly. The food is lovely and so is the home. We can sleep well knowing she is safe, happy and looked after.
My mother has been in the Manor House for two years, she has made some good friends and she and I think all the staff are amazing always ready to help and support her when she needs them. They provide outstanding meals and if Mam doesn't want what's on the menu they will try to provide what she has requested. I couldn't fault anything. Thank you Manor House staff.
My father has been at The Manor House Barnard Castle since the spring of 2024, he has dementia. We looked at a number of homes in advance, The Manor was top of our list and has more than met expectations. Staff are friendly and welcoming and have taken account of a difficult wider family situation we are dealing with. They have been very flexible. Dad is well cared for, well fed and communication from the home is very good. He seems very settled now.
My father has resided at The Manor House Barnard Castle for 12 months now and I can only find positive words for the whole experience. The care has been outstanding and The Manor House is a home from home. Dad initially thought he was living in a 5* hotel and I have to say the accommodation and service is not far from this standard. From the moment you walk into the Manor, the greeting is always warm. The open sitting area is most comfortable and tea/coffee on-tap. Enter the wing to my fathers room and communal room, the accommodation, furniture and fittings are fantastic. On the odd occasion my father has been admitted to hospital, key staff members have kept me updated with regular calls and updates. Most impressed.
My mother is suffering from the early onset of Alzheimer's disease and required care whilst my wife and I went on holiday. She had been to The Manor previously and enjoyed her break, so we booked her in for a 2-week stay. The place is very clean, well organised and the staff are fantastic. The food is excellent. There are plenty of activities for residents to partake in, which Mum enjoyed. I would not hesitate to recommend the Manor for short or long-term care.
My auntie has been in The Manor House 2 years, is well cared for with everything she needs. The personal care she receives is absolutely amazing from the staff. The staff is always approachable to ask if anything is bothering you, the manager is absolutely amazing with residents, staff and family members. I find the care home definitely a 5-star.
I cannot thank the staff enough for the professionalism, support and care provided to my father in his last days. The situation was difficult owing to external factors but despite all that was happening at the time the staff remained resolute and acted solely in the best interest of my father. Their calmness and efficiency in managing the situation, not least going the extra mile to provide well-needed support to our family was truly appreciated. Thanks to their management and compassion my father received outstanding care ensuring his last few hours were calm and peaceful.
My father-in-law spent 3 weeks respite care at the home during August during which he received excellent care. Even though he had incurable bowel cancer, he actually put on weight as he was eating delicious meals, served by people who took the time to cater for his individual needs. He even made it down to the cafe area where one of his last photos shows him happy and enjoying a latte with friends. This is a photograph we will always treasure. After this period he spent time in hospital, but returned to the home for what transpired to be the last 24 hours of his life. We will always be comforted by the fact that he was, at last, in safe hands, being cared for by people who genuinely wanted the best for him. Each and every carer went way way 'above and beyond' and we were listened to and protected by people who we knew we could trust completely. Lovely people, I would highly recommend.
I was happy with the service we received at The Manor House, it was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone when stuck in the position my wife and I found ourselves.
My husband came to live in The Manor House on January 3rd 2024. From the moment we entered, I was impressed and reassured by the warm welcome we received. He has settled extremely well due mainly to the caring and patient staff and homely surroundings. When we had to attend the hospital for an operation they attended to all the arrangements and his follow-up needs. I cannot thank them enough.
I find the staff are great with my sister who has lived here for over a year now. They are knowledgeable in dementia and can anticipate her needs when required. Her room is beautiful and always very clean and tidy, my sister loves the food and she loves the social aspect of living here. There is always something for her to do. On the whole, my sister enjoys living here and has great relationships with the staff.
Mum has been in The Manor House Barnard Castle for ten months now. We are extremely happy with the care she is given. The staff are kind and considerate in their dealings with her. Whenever we visit, they are friendly and helpful and are happy to discuss any issues which may have arisen. They keep us up to date with her care and any treatments. The Manor House, itself, is a lovely environment, it is immaculately clean and well-kept. All of the staff, wherever they work, are kind and considerate with both Mum and her relatives and friends. Mum celebrated her 90th birthday recently and everyone went out of their way to make it a special day, with a special shout-out to the kitchen who put on a lovely spread for lunch, despite having other commitments that day. In summary, The Manor House is a lovely, well-kept environment but what makes it especially special is its staff.
My mum and dad were in The Manor House Barnard Castle for eighteen months, Mum on Chester dementia unit and Dad on Bowes. Mum adjusted well to Chester unit and was well loved, I had complete confidence in her care and all the staff were wonderful with her and they knew just what to do and say to put her at ease, I am very grateful for all the love and care she received. Dad really didn’t want to be in a home but recognised he needed the care they could give and I could not manage at home. It was a lovely room and the staff were very patient and kind, even making sure he had his glass of wine with his meal at lunchtime. From the time of having to leave them in the home, I had complete confidence they were both in very capable hands and well looked after, also I knew they would always let me know if they were not well or had a fall. The staff also arranged visits for Mum to see Dad as often as he wanted, visiting for us was good and always a cup of coffee provided. Thank you all.
The Manor House Barnard Castle understands my mother's physical and well-being needs and meets all of these expertly. The activities organised in The Manor House really suit my mother. They give her purpose, a sense of fulfilment and enjoyment. She has friends in The Manor House. She enjoys the luxury of space and environment that The Manor House offers.
