The entertainers both did a medley of songs to suit all ages and where thoroughly enjoyed by all, even the children had great fun with the bouncy castle and games. The food and drink laid on by the management and served by the hard working staff was wonderful, all under a beautiful warm Sunday afternoon. Thank you.
Very good food was very good and room was very nice.
A weeks respite care, lovely apartment, everyone helpful and friendly and helpful. Activities and entertainment very good. Overall a wonderful week.
Mum feels happy and secure at South Lodge. She enjoys planting and gardening and the staff make sure she is well looked after. Customer Service and Management within South Lodge is fantastic and I would definitely recommend it to others.
Mum has been a resident at South Lodge since January 2023. The care she recieves is excellant and staff are wonderful with her. South Lodge is beautifully decorated and maintained to a high standard. It has been wonderful to get mum out into the lovely gardens, particularly during the recent hot weather.Lots of seating areas, ideal for a coffee and the crossword. Activities are many and varied. I have every confidence that mum is receiving the best care possible and is very much treated as an individual. It is a joy to visit her, the staff are all so friendly and extremely helpful.
The care and staff members at South Lodge are all wonderful. They all show genuine compassion, respect for the residents and are always professional staff are attentive and pro active, nothing changes in health, mood and responding quickly. Meals are nutrutious, tasty and tailored to the residents dietary needs. Cleanliness is maintained to a high standard and there is always a full activities calendar!
Overall more than happy with the care home.
My mum has been in South Lodge 18 mths now. She has dementia which has got progressively worse. The staff have been very caring and have strived to make my mums stay at South Lodge as pleasant as possible. The facilities & activities are very good & the staff do encourag residents to join in and management are very approachable.
My mum has had two respite stays in this care home after her home flooded twice in 12 months. Both occasions greeted with care and compassion, more so on the second visit which was more devastating for my mum. Management and carers alike were lovely. The home is clean, welcoming, friendly and meals are lovely, well presented and requests all catered for. Carers were kind, response times to buzzers vary dependant upon busy times. But as far as my mum was concerned care was just as Mum wished for. My only criticism was that water drainage in her en-suite after showering flooded and hopefully sorted for the next resident. Some amazing activities for the residents and afternoon singers. Lovely gardens and nice sunny areas to sit in. Relatives always made welcome and a fully stocked tea bar provides drinks and snacks for residents and relatives. The price reflects the high standards, however it was only marginally more expensive than a grotty place Mum was unfortunate to stay in prior.
Both our parents spent the end of their lives at South Lodge, at slightly different times and for different reasons. Our Mum moved there once my Dad could not longer care for her. Although she wasn't able to join in any of the life/activities or communicate by this point, she was calm, smiley and obviously comfortable. My Dad visited regularly and the staff were always so lovely and welcoming and would pop in for a chat, which really helped his spirits during a time of grieving once he could no longer care for her himself. Latterly, only 8 months after Mum's passing, we took Dad there when he was nearing end of life with cancer and far from it being upsetting, he loved the attention and kindness of all the staff who knew him from being such a regular visitor. He was looked after with such dignity and kindness and we couldn't have wished for a better end in the last few months of illness. If we ever had any concerns, we were heard and the team reacted and we are so very grateful to the
Our friend was well cared for by caring staff Her room facilities were excellent and she received the required medical support at a difficult time Great efforts were made to meet her specialist dietary requirements
Thank you to the staff at South Lodge for looking after my mother during the last 26 months of her life. After losing my father and a hospital stay following pneumonia and a hip fracture she did not want to return home. At SL although anxious at first she felt safe comfortable and well looked after and ultimately chose to stay. Continuity of care is important and when staff turnover is low the care on each floor works very well and family members are assured that the staff know their relative and that messages are relayed within the team. The rooms - mini apartments - are excellent well equipped and furnished and can be made to feel very homely. My mum always loved her room! The staff are kind and caring and the meals good with a choice of dining options. There is a welcoming atmosphere created by staff (including non-carers) investing in residents' wellbeing. There is a very good attempt to offer diverse activities that will appeal. I recommend SL to anyone looking for a care solution.
We visited South Lodge for the first time and were naturally anxious about what this would be like. The Client Liaison Manager spent a considerable amount of time with us showing us around and making us feel very comfortable. He was very kind and considerate and he is clearly in the right job as he really cares about what he does. The home is lovely and it really has a home feeling, with beautiful surroundings inside and out. The staff were all very attentive to residents and it felt like a really nice place to be. Thanks again to the staff, your kindness and professionalism make you an ambassador for South Lodge.
My 90-year-old mum was a resident at South Lodge for 6.5 weeks as she was too poorly to go home after discharge from hospital after a fall. All the staff from our first enquiry down to the day-to-day carers were so kind and lovely not just to Mum but also to me and my family and Mum's friends who visited. Mum just needed some respite care but we would thoroughly recommend South Lodge. They were flexible about this as we weren't sure just what we needed when Mum first arrived. Thank you to everyone who made Mum's enforced stay such a positive and happy one. The food was excellent and Mum had a wide variety of tasty food as a vegetarian. The laundry system was amazing. Mum didn't want to engage with the social aspects but there were always lots of residents seated in the reception bistro-style area who seemed very happy. For anyone looking for respite care, I would thoroughly recommend SL. It is clearly a home that has the residents at the heart of its care. Thank you to one and all.
The entire team at South Lodge are exceptional. They went out of their way to ensure my 91-year-old dad settled in well. The home is really beautiful and the activities are amazing. Thank you to the whole team.
My mum and sister are both residents at South Lodge, and the standard of care they have received has been exemplary. Everything from the facilities provided, the standard of the accommodation and the catering is to a very high standard; not to mention the carers and staff who go above and beyond to cater for their every need in terms of daily care. The programme of entertainment and activities is fantastic, and as a family, we feel that our loved ones are safe and happy in such wonderful surroundings. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking to find residential care for loved ones!
South Lodge demonstrates admirably the 'care' in 'care home'. The staff show compassion and understanding, endless patience which enables my relatives to have some period of relaxation knowing that my relative is safe, secure and being looked after as if I was doing it myself.
Due to lack of attention and poor communication skills my loved one was allowed to walk out and wander the streets until he fell, sustained a head injury and was in hospital for a week. Staff didn’t even notice he was missing, very poor standards of care and then not willing to take responsibility for the incident, care was fragmented and the resident lost weight whilst under their care.
The staff at South Lodge have been great at caring for my mother and helping her to settle in as a resident. Mum feels 'at home' with her own furniture and pictures. She's joining in with activities and enjoying a healthy diet. Everyone has been very supportive of the family, responding to queries and adjusting Mum's care to suit her needs.
My mother has moved to South Lodge from another care home. As a result, she is much less anxious and considerably happier, which is down to the excellent care provided by staff here. Despite being in the more advanced stage of dementia, she has been included in activities and enjoys being taken to church. In addition, her speech and mobility have improved and she is very fond of the carers.
