My wife was admitted after suffering a stroke which resulted in her being paralysed to her left arm and leg. She is not incontinent but cannot use toilet facilities which requires staff to carry out those duties. Here, much to her initial regret, duties are always completely carried out by male staff. They have proved extremely popular with her since she's been here. Food she considers adequate but not attractive. She has a very limited diet, which is the main problem. Accommodation is adequate but it's beset by being contaminated by cats. I think she will have regrets in leaving when she is moved to her permanent home.
Since my wife came to stay I have been very impressed with the whole set up. From the kind friendly staff to the clean rooms. She seems very well cared for here.
Staff are welcoming and show concern for both residents and relatives. The room is very clean. Efforts have been made to ensure the resident is comfortable. Any concerns are addressed promptly. All residents are included in outdoor entertainment, which takes effort and organisation.
When I 1st came to visit my sister I couldn't believe it, the room was so spacious and so clean. The en-suite is excellent with many safety features. The staff are very friendly and so helpful. You hear so many stories and I was very concerned that she would be left to either vegetate and or not be looked after, but now I am confident that when my visit is over she is in the best hands possible. She has had her hair cut, her nails cut & painted on her hands & her nails on her feet at last look so much better. Thank you for your care & concern. Her medical needs have been well looked after & she is so much calmer & happier.
All the staff were lovely and professional, everywhere was clean and tidy. Mom had been prepared and in her special chair for the family to celebrate her birthday. We were delighted that Mum would get a birthday cake for her and all the residents later that day.
I knew from the moment we arrived at Sandown park that this was the right place for mum. Serene, calm & friendly. Attentive staff that listen and care, all led from the top. Lovely, light and bright dining areas with good food, comfortable lounges, activities and access to tended gardens. Sandown park wasn't a placement out of choice. but it was the right one.
Staff prepared Mum in her special wheelchair at our advanced request. She was clean and appropriately dressed. We took her into the garden area where there was some gentle karaoke going on. There were quite a few residents enjoying themselves and the staff were doing a great job of keeping everyone entertained, but not overheated in the sunshine. We had a lovely time in the garden with Mum and celebrated her 89th birthday. Staff were happy to help out with requests for glasses, cutlery, and napkins. A number of staff stopped for a chat with Mum and ourselves. When we took Mum back to her room a staff member asked if it was OK to go ahead with Mum's dinner and we left them to it. We are delighted with the care and atmosphere at Sandown Park!
The staff take excellent care of my mother-in-law. Really caring. On her birthday this month sung happy birthday and provided a cake. Everyone in the home is welcoming and polite.
The stay at Sandown are fantastic and go out of their way to look after mum and also help myself and family when visiting. The team are well organised and friendly and the facilities are spotless.
Mum has excellent care and she is very settled and comfortable. She loves the staff and they love her! The staff always have time to say hello and to give me a full update.
A pleasant experience showing us very clearly that my sister is being well looked after in very suitable surroundings. There appears to be a mix up where head office has received money for toiletries etc. and has not told the care staff that payment has been made.
My husband seems settled and cared for. The staff know him and his needs. The home is warm and everyone is friendly and know me too.
Find some staff to be rude often arguing with family members, refusing to let resident use the toilet when asked "No it's dinner time", in front of family! Lack of personal care with regards to injuries/rashes being cared for/hearing aids having batteries etc. Residents are left in chairs most of the day with little interaction/ stimulation - tele very quiet or on mute.
Mum moved to Sandown Park in August. She has taken time to settle in, but is very well looked after. All staff are friendly and are always very welcoming which Mum loves. The home is managed very well and we know Mum is safe.
The resident is so well cared for. He says he is very happy and in good health despite his condition and being bedridden. He and room are clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The staff at Sandown Park are very professional and caring. They are always attentive to all of my Father's care needs. There is a good selection of activities taking place each day. The staff all work very hard and are very friendly and there is a nice family feel to the home. The manager and all staff are very approachable and always address straight away any concerns that we may have.
For my wife with late-stage Alzheimer's, it is essential that she is kept clean, warm, and well-fed. The staff are totally reliable and caring and I have total confidence in them.
Very friendly and welcoming reception. The main corridor is a bit bland. The gardens are beautiful.
Our Mum always showed respect and treated with dignity. The staff were all courteous and supportive of Mum and to visiting relatives. The facilities were always found to be clean, tidy, and welcoming. Mum did not participate in activities, however, the newsletter regularly received by post always showed a full and entertaining programme.
My mother moved to Sandown Park in September, reluctantly transferred from another home due to increased needs and challenging behaviour. She is well cared for, and supported, and I am greatly reassured that any medical needs are attended to quickly. Management is excellent, staff polite and respectful to residents and visitors, and it is also clear that the activities team are enthusiastic and creative in keeping residents stimulated. I know my mother is in good hands.
