View Full Details of Brampton Lodge Care CentreMy wife was admitted to Brampton Lodge in January of this year following a period in hospital. This was intended as respite. However, because of being unable to walk, having dementia and being diabetic, it was decided the best course of action was for her to stay. Also, because of these health issues, she required continuous nursing care. At times she can become anxious and agitated, but the staff handle these occasions in a caring and compassionate way. Regarding the activities at the home, my wife encouraged to take part. As a nice touch on my daily visits, I am able to have my lunch served alongside my wife at the same time as the other residents. So although it is not easy to leave my wife after my visits, I can do so in the knowledge that the care and attention shown to her by the staff will be excellent.
My Mum has been attending Brampton Day centre for over a year now and she loves it there. The staff in the day centre always go above and beyond to support her and to help my Dad and me. Mum is really happy there. We've had lots of up's and downs with Mum's condition and throughout all of that the staff have always been there for us no matter what and helped where they can both emotionally and practically. The activities and days out that Mum has been on are really good as well the staff make a real effort to make it fun for the people who attend. Mum's had two birthday's there now and they've really made a fuss of her. Brampton Day Centre staff mean the world to us, thank you for all you do it's really appreciated.
My wife has been here two weeks. My initial impression has been a good one with only a few minor issues. We will see over a longer period of time how things proceed.
Our mum has been at Brampton for up to 12 months. Our overall experience of the home has been a good one. It can be difficult to gain access when visiting after the office staff have left. Mum is generally kept clean, but we feel standards have slipped of late particularly with the bedding being not changed regularly. The staff who see Mum really now know her little traits and accommodate accordingly to Mum's mood. We find the staff helpful when asked to help, if we require any information on medications or food, they are great in letting us know. One member of staff was amazing downstairs but has now gone upstairs. Another member of staff is Mum's favourite.
Brampton Lodge is in need of much improvement and is certainly not the care home that it was a few years ago. They have had 3 different managers over the last year or so since the home came under new ownership/management. I have raised many a complaint with management and had promises of improvement but none have materialised. I have complained to Social Services and CQC. Staff turnover is very high and lots of the great staff have left. There are a few wonderful, caring staff who remain but these are few and far between. Lots of agency staff being used who don't get a proper handover and therefore are not aware of the residents needs as detailed in their care plans. Basic care needs such as regular personal care and hydration are not met. Communication between management, nursing staff and carers is very poor. I would not recommend this care home to anyone!
Mum was admitted to Brampton from hospital after a heart attack. Everybody was so kind and considerate, and the physiotherapy team were on hand to set me mum up and about and were fantastic. The care we received for Mum was very good, and the staff were always at hand if Mum needed anything.
Brampton Lodge Care Centre has been amazing. All staff are friendly and take great care. My mother is very happy when she attends. If I did not have Brampton, I simply would not be able to manage with her needs, I have cared for her and her dementia has progressed massively. Brampton gives me the ability to work knowing my mum's safe.
Staff very friendly and always there to help and advise me. I go 4 times a week to visit and, apart from things going missing, I am very satisfied with his care.
My wife has been a resident at Brampton Lodge Dementia Unit for almost four years. In that time, I have always had the utmost admiration for the care and dedication of all the staff. Day and night, nothing is too much trouble, even though the extra problems caused by the Covid lockdown. At times, my wife sleeps very irregularly hours, but whenever she is awake, there is always someone to help her and prepare food etc. I know that would not happen in some care homes. Brilliant staff. Brilliant care home.
Our Mum went into Brampton Lodge during 2021 and 2022. It was on occasion, a difficult time with the Covid situation and communication between care homes and families is so important. However, we found Brampton Lodge to be first-class in this area. Our phone calls were always answered, our emails were always responded to and nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel like family and with the open-door policy that is in place, it was comforting to know everything was transparent for you to see. The care my mum received was lovely, everyone made a big fuss of her and made her feel part of a bigger family that exists there. Her room was bright and airy and always clean, as were the communal areas. Even though trips and days out were affected by the Covid situation, there were always monthly planned events when allowed and activities for Mum to join in with. We found Brampton Lodge to be a little 'Jewel in the crown', where care homes are concerned!
My mother was in Brampton Lodge for six weeks in March/April 2021 and the care she received was absolutely superb, the room was very nice and clean, my mum said the food was very nice, the staff were kind and caring with my mum and the physio that she received was of a high standard and got her back on her feet. I would highly recommend Brampton Lodge as a care home.
My husband came to Brampton Lodge a week ago from the hospital. Very sadly he passed on having spent less than a week here. The end of his life came much sooner than expected. The care he received was just wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. The compassion showed to him and I was tremendous. I can’t thank everyone involved enough.
Care is good but often a lot of temporary bank staff on duty weekend/holiday times. Significant turnover of staff - some very good. Carers lost to better-paid career jobs.
Excellent. Always friendly and welcoming. Help my husband with his care and follow his care plan to the letter. Always some activity taking place and always asked to join in. Lots of fun going on most days, opportunities for trips out. Really an excellent place.
Just returned from a visit to the UK, I live in the USA. The care I saw given to my mum is beyond expectations. Staff care and take an interest in their residents. Encouragement to keep independence if possible, not just sit and do nothing. Activities arranged - day trips- garden fetes. All the staff I saw were pleasant to all residents. This is not an easy job at times but they did it with a smile and thankfully, a sense of humour. Team workers make sure residents' needs are being met, putting plans in place for future situations. I visited at different times so saw many situations and staff - always made to feel welcomed. I know my mum is safe here and that is such a comfort to me being so far away.
All of the staff seem to interact nicely with the residents. The only issue we have had to date is that we asked the kitchen in the resident's lounge if they could give us some ice for a drink we had brought in for our sister and they said they don't have ice!
My mum came to Brampton Lodge’s nursing unit at the end of May 2019. We had reached the stage where Mum could not be cared for safely at home, but we were very nervous about finding the right home. Brampton Lodge may not indulge in the glossy brochures and candelabras offered by other homes, but Mum liked it from her first visit. It has a calm, welcoming and well-organised feel. And that early impression has never changed. The staff are warm, friendly and professional, always. I am also impressed that the owners are frequently on site and are easily accessible if there were to be issues. Most importantly Mum settled in amazingly well and after six weeks was regarding Brampton Lodge as her home. She says she feels safer here than she did at home and is clearly happy and well cared for. Such an important decision but, thankfully, choosing Brampton Lodge was the right choice.
Brampton is transparent, whenever you walk in you are always welcome. There is a programme of continuous improvement of an excellent facility. The staff are caring and there is always a warm welcome, they know the residents well and engage with conversation and many activities.
Mum has been here since February and as a family, we were so worried about having to move her to another home and for everyone to get to know her and us. I didn't need to worry- the staff are wonderful. So caring and understanding how we feel as a family and how to look after mum. She is so settled and seems really happy. The activities are great - I think she has been out more than me! So if you need to move a loved one anywhere and you can get in here do it - it is a lovely home with caring, friendly staff. Thanks for all you do for Mum and us.
Excellent intermediate care wing. Mum had been through some awful illnesses this year. The staff at Brampton gave her so much support and encouragement. She’s back home thanks to their kindness and compassion. Wonderful people. Thank you so much.
