We moved my mum to Brampton Lodge Care Home after being very unhappy with her previous care home, and the difference has been incredible. Mum has advanced dementia, so strong leadership was crucial. Although she's only been here six weeks, I already have complete trust and faith in the manager. In my
experience, the quality of a home depends on the manager - and he is brilliant. He has been accommodating, proactive and ensured Mum's care is truly tailored to her needs.

The staff treat her with dignity, patience and kindness, and communication is excellent. The food is very good and they've been fantastic at accommodating her dietary needs. The activities team also deserve recognition for creating meaningful, inclusive moments for residents.

We finally have real peace of mind. Thank you to the whole team.

My mum attends the day care centre four times a week. She loves going. I can't thank Kirsty and her team for the caring, friendly and professional way they are with my mum. It's given mum a new lease of life. Mum loves the company and it's given me the peace of mind that's she's in good hands. They
pick her up and bring her home. It's a lovely place and I would recommend it to anyone, as I have done several times.

Everyone is so welcoming to my mum. She looks more like her usual self after a few weeks of being at Brampton Lodge Monday to Wednesday. She looks forward to going and she remembers being there. Mum also likes being on the minibus.
Also, really good staff communication when issues have arisen over a
jealous 90+ male friend who would rather she sit at home bored and lonely than she go out and enjoy herself.

Brampton Lodge is filled with care, they deliver a wonderful service and are very compassionate. You sense the feeling of together the minute you walk in to the main residential area.
The residents all appear to be very happy and content in their own ways, they are clean and the environment is perfectly
safe for all.
The staff whom we have dealt with over the last few months, have been very knowledgeable, honest, cheerful and demonstrate a fondness for all of the residents.
Everyone is very personable and they want to help, no matter how big or small of a problem.
Our resident, is very settled, comfortable and excellently well looked after. They know all about her, wonderful communicators with her and for someone who was very anti care home, she know calls this home, on every level.
From the management down, this is a care home that is really trying to make a difference and are always trying to improve the care they offer. The resident is firmly at the heart of everything they do.

I have been taking mum to Brampton Lodge Day Centre for the past 4 months and the experience has been fantastic from day 1. Mum is generally reserved in new environments, but was made to feel so welcome that she settled in almost immediately. The day centre gives her valuable social interaction and
stimulation in an inclusive environment and gives mum structure to her day and something to talk about in the evenings. The team have always been cognisant of her changing needs and have always worked to meet them. She has been on several outings where the staff have gone above and beyond to ensure the participants had a thoroughly enjoyable time. She is always greeted and farewelled by name and with hugs and cuddles. I can't thank the team enough for their care and enthusiasm - they are an amazing bunch. A special thank you to Kirsty, the day centre manager, who has been unfailingly helpful.

My Mother attends the daycentre, we were really struggling at home and were feeling lost, we came to look around where we met Kirsty and her team, she offered so much help and advice, we were offered a trial day, where my mother was dropped off by myself and I was able to complete some chores around
her house and do some shopping and time for myself. My mother had a great time and couldnt stop smiling about the dancing and knitting (which she has not been able to do for years) You truly are a life saver! I now have some time to myself, as well as my mother being well looked after and in a safe and happy environment, Thank you Brampton Lodge Daycentre

My wife has been here for 3.5 months. I spend up to 6 hours per day every day with her and have now had time to experience the good and not so good aspects of the home.
It would appear that for some members of staff its all to much trouble to respond to a request for help, while others are only to
willing to assist. The cleanliness & food at Brampton are excellent a quicker response to the alarm bell would also help

My wife was admitted to Brampton Lodge in January of this year following a period in hospital. This was intended as respite. However, because of being unable to walk, having dementia and being diabetic, it was decided the best course of action was for her to stay. Also, because of these health issues,
she required continuous nursing care.
At times she can become anxious and agitated, but the staff handle these occasions in a caring and compassionate way.
Regarding the activities at the home, my wife encouraged to take part.
As a nice touch on my daily visits, I am able to have my lunch served alongside my wife at the same time as the other residents.
So although it is not easy to leave my wife after my visits, I can do so in the knowledge that the care and attention shown to her by the staff will be excellent.
Reply from Bev, Regional Manager at Brampton Lodge Care CentreThank you so much for taking the time to share your kind words about Brampton Lodge. We truly appreciate your trust in us, and we are grateful to be able to support your wife following her hospital stay.
We understand how important it is for families to feel confident in the care their loved ones receive, especially when complex health needs are involved. Our team is dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centred care, and it is heartening to hear that their approach has brought comfort during moments of anxiety or agitation.
We are also very pleased that you have found the activities and shared mealtimes meaningful. Being able to have lunch together is something we are glad to offer, as maintaining those moments of connection can make such a difference.
Thank you again for your thoughtful review. It means a great deal to our team. Please never hesitate to speak with us if there is anything more we can do to support you or your wife.

My Mum has been attending Brampton Day centre for over a year now and she loves it there. The staff in the day centre always go above and beyond to support her and to help my Dad and me. Mum is really happy there. We've had lots of up's and downs with Mum's condition and throughout all of that the
staff have always been there for us no matter what and helped where they can both emotionally and practically.
The activities and days out that Mum has been on are really good as well the staff make a real effort to make it fun for the people who attend.
Mum's had two birthday's there now and they've really made a fuss of her. Brampton Day Centre staff mean the world to us, thank you for all you do it's really appreciated.

Our mum has been at Brampton for up to 12 months. Our overall experience of the home has been a good one. It can be difficult to gain access when visiting after the office staff have left. Mum is generally kept clean, but we feel standards have slipped of late particularly with the bedding being not
changed regularly. The staff who see Mum really now know her little traits and accommodate accordingly to Mum's mood. We find the staff helpful when asked to help, if we require any information on medications or food, they are great in letting us know. One member of staff was amazing downstairs but has now gone upstairs. Another member of staff is Mum's favourite.

Brampton Lodge is in need of much improvement and is certainly not the care home that it was a few years ago. They have had 3 different managers over the last year or so since the home came under new ownership/management. I have raised many a complaint with management and had promises of improvement
but none have materialised. I have complained to Social Services and CQC. Staff turnover is very high and lots of the great staff have left. There are a few wonderful, caring staff who remain but these are few and far between. Lots of agency staff being used who don't get a proper handover and therefore are not aware of the residents needs as detailed in their care plans. Basic care needs such as regular personal care and hydration are not met. Communication between management, nursing staff and carers is very poor. I would not recommend this care home to anyone!

We are extremely sorry to hear about the concerns you have raised. We recognise that consistency and communication are vital in providing the high standard of care that our residents deserve, and we apologise that your expectations were not met in this regard. Brampton Lodge Care Centre has been amazing. All staff are friendly and take great care. My mother is very happy when she attends. If I did not have Brampton, I simply would not be able to manage with her needs, I have cared for her and her dementia has progressed massively. Brampton gives me the ability
to work knowing my mum's safe.

My wife has been a resident at Brampton Lodge Dementia Unit for almost four years. In that time, I have always had the utmost admiration for the care and dedication of all the staff. Day and night, nothing is too much trouble, even though the extra problems caused by the Covid lockdown. At times, my
wife sleeps very irregularly hours, but whenever she is awake, there is always someone to help her and prepare food etc. I know that would not happen in some care homes. Brilliant staff. Brilliant care home.

Our Mum went into Brampton Lodge during 2021 and 2022. It was on occasion, a difficult time with the Covid situation and communication between care homes and families is so important. However, we found Brampton Lodge to be first-class in this area. Our phone calls were always answered, our emails were
always responded to and nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel like family and with the open-door policy that is in place, it was comforting to know everything was transparent for you to see. The care my mum received was lovely, everyone made a big fuss of her and made her feel part of a bigger family that exists there. Her room was bright and airy and always clean, as were the communal areas. Even though trips and days out were affected by the Covid situation, there were always monthly planned events when allowed and activities for Mum to join in with. We found Brampton Lodge to be a little 'Jewel in the crown', where care homes are concerned!

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.382)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.382) out of 10 for Brampton Lodge Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.507 for Brampton Lodge Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (139 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 203 Ratings = 4.507
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brampton Lodge Care Centre is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
