My mother was in Brampton Lodge for six weeks in March/April 2021 and the care she received was absolutely superb, the room was very nice and clean, my mum said the food was very nice, the staff were kind and caring with my mum and the physio that she received was of a high standard and got her back
on her feet.

I would highly recommend Brampton Lodge as a care home.

My husband came to Brampton Lodge a week ago from the hospital. Very sadly he passed on having spent less than a week here. The end of his life came much sooner than expected. The care he received was just wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. The compassion showed to him and I was tremendous. I
can’t thank everyone involved enough.
Reply from Paula Clark, Business Development at Brampton Lodge Care CentreFirstly, may we pass on our sincerest condolences for your loss. Secondly thank you so much for your kind words, we will pass them on to all the staff. Kindest regards Brampton Lodge

Care is good but often a lot of temporary bank staff on duty weekend/holiday times. Significant turnover of staff - some very good. Carers lost to better-paid career jobs.
Reply from Paula Clark, Business Development at Brampton Lodge Care CentreThank you for your comments. During holiday periods we do see an increase in agency staff at weekends but try to have consistency of those that come. We provide considerable training for staff which does lead to staff looking for promoted posts which is usually in the NHS who offer conditions of service we cannot match. We welcome new enthusiastic and motivated staff to our team.

Always some activity taking place and always asked to join in.

Just returned from a visit to the UK, I live in the USA. The care I saw given to my mum is beyond expectations. Staff care and take an interest in their residents. Encouragement to keep independence if possible, not just sit and do nothing. Activities arranged - day trips- garden fetes.
All the staff
I saw were pleasant to all residents. This is not an easy job at times but they did it with a smile and thankfully, a sense of humour.
Team workers make sure residents' needs are being met, putting plans in place for future situations. I visited at different times so saw many situations and staff - always made to feel welcomed.
I know my mum is safe here and that is such a comfort to me being so far away.

All of the staff seem to interact nicely with the residents. The only issue we have had to date is that we asked the kitchen in the resident's lounge if they could give us some ice for a drink we had brought in for our sister and they said they don't have ice!
Reply from Paula Clark, Business Development at Brampton Lodge Care CentreThank you so much for your review, we really appreciate the feedback and I will mention to the kitchen about the ice.

My mum came to Brampton Lodge’s nursing unit at the end of May 2019. We had reached the stage where Mum could not be cared for safely at home, but we were very nervous about finding the right home. Brampton Lodge may not indulge in the glossy brochures and candelabras offered by other homes, but Mum
liked it from her first visit. It has a calm, welcoming and well-organised feel. And that early impression has never changed. The staff are warm, friendly and professional, always. I am also impressed that the owners are frequently on site and are easily accessible if there were to be issues. Most importantly Mum settled in amazingly well and after six weeks was regarding Brampton Lodge as her home. She says she feels safer here than she did at home and is clearly happy and well cared for. Such an important decision but, thankfully, choosing Brampton Lodge was the right choice.

Brampton is transparent, whenever you walk in you are always welcome. There is a programme of continuous improvement of an excellent facility.

The staff are caring and there is always a warm welcome, they know the residents well and engage with conversation and many activities.

Mum has been here since February and as a family, we were so worried about having to move her to another home and for everyone to get to know her and us. I didn't need to worry- the staff are wonderful. So caring and understanding how we feel as a family and how to look after mum.
She is so settled
and seems really happy.
The activities are great - I think she has been out more than me!
So if you need to move a loved one anywhere and you can get in here do it - it is a lovely home with caring, friendly staff.
Thanks for all you do for Mum and us.

Excellent intermediate care wing. Mum had been through some awful illnesses this year. The staff at Brampton gave her so much support and encouragement. She’s back home thanks to their kindness and compassion. Wonderful people. Thank you so much.

OK rooms and good food offering, unfortunately overall, we are very unhappy with the care received, complaints have been raised and another will be submitted through the formal channels I cannot go into detail here - safe to say I would never recommend this care home, please take a look round at alternative
homes.
Reply from Paula Clark, Business Development at Brampton Lodge Care CentreWe have received no complaint formal or informal from the author of this review. However, we have responded to all informal and formal complaints received in line with our complaints procedure. We do not recognise this level of unhappiness with the service from any complaints received. In May 2018 the home had an unannounced Infection Control Inspection where we scored 99%. Therefore we believe that this evidences that cleanliness could not be poor.
We cannot comment directly on value for money, we offer Intermediate Care through the NHS and Council which is free at the point of delivery. Our self-funding rates are in line or lower than other homes in our area. The people who are funded by the Council are charged a client contribution after a council financial assessment, but with a top up that is again in line or lower than other areas within our vicinity.
In the past 8 years, no part of the service has ever been rated poor or very poor.
We do, however, recognise that as a learning organisation that we need to take on board constructive feedback and would invite this person to contact the General Manager directly to discuss further these issues.

Brampton Lodge Care Centre, in my opinion, is 80% perfect and I have only minor issues that eventually iron out. The staff are caring and pleasant under a stressful job looking after patients of varying levels. Warm, pleasant atmosphere. Great place overall.

My mum received wonderful care, time, attention, love and respect. Staff brought out the best in her. We got our mum back, humour, wit, teasing, constant smiles. She had a wonderful 5 months, did things she'd not done for years. Amazing.
We had peace of mind, we created new memories and shared old
memories.
Thank you all.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.382)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.382) out of 10 for Brampton Lodge Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.507 for Brampton Lodge Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (139 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 203 Ratings = 4.507
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brampton Lodge Care Centre is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
