An excellent care home! They truly care for their residents. The staff are engaged and find time to focus on the residents and support the families . Mum had dementia and Parkinson's so she needed a lot of support.

My wife of 60 years joined Alexandra Grange in August , with Vascular Dementia having been living at home with it for three and a half years. I chose this home after a careful review of a number of homes in the area. I am very pleased I did. Alexandra Grange, is a well managed home, with a care staff
that are really responsive to the needs of the residents and show real empathy when interacting with both them and their families. The home is always warm, kept in super clean condition, and the food menu ( which is sent to families weekly) is varied and healthy. There is daily activity arranged for the residents, again well planned and executed,.My wife has needed medical attention a number of times this has always been actioned promptly, with a call out Doctor if needed, and I have been kept up todate
It's a big decision to move a loved one into care , but I will always remember my wife saying ,unprompted one day "I like it here".that made me feel so pleased with that decision.

My husband joined Alexandra Grange in October 2025 as a permanent resident. Having experienced another home for respite care I have been impressed with how attentive the staff are, how clean the home is and the quality and choice of the food. Everyone is welcoming and helpful. My husband has
settled in very well. We both feel that we couldn't have found any where that would better Alexandra Grange.

I visited the care home to see whether it would be a place my mother would like for her final dementia journey.
What I saw and heard was way beyond my expectations. Firstly the building itself was spotlessly clean and welcoming. The decor was calming, bright and homely. The receptionist was
friendly and helpful. I was introduced to Lorraine and offered a drink. She was very interested in Mum's family history, likes, dislikes , health and current needs. I was given an extensive tour and introduced to several members of staff and patients. I was allowed the time and respect to observe, ask questions throughout. To be honest I could not fault anything. What a wonderful care home that truly puts everything into making the residence stay dignified, enjoyable, entertaining, engaging and interesting. I would have no hesitation in passing Mum into their gentle care.

Friendly easy to visit when convenient and a pleasant environment. It's a happy place and not sterile like some others homes locally. Rooms are light bright and spacious. Service users are encouraged to eat with others rather than in there room and there's a good cross section of activities

It's Alexandra Grange staff from every department work jointly to ensure the needs and well-being of residents are met in a friendly and supportive way. Regular management meetings held for both residents and relatives encourage feedback and inclusion. The well-being of relatives is of equal
importance, and an active support group for relatives of residents with dementia has proved invaluable. The aim is to make both residents, relatives and staff feel part of the wider Alexandra Grange family, adding to AG being a warm, caring and professionally run home.

The staff are friendly and approachable.
Feedback is encouraged on all aspects of the care provided
- both one-to-one and also in regular relatives meetings.

I was extremly happy with the care given to my sister during her 20-month stay.
16 September 2024
My mother had an extended stay (over a year) in Alexandra Grange. She received exemplary care which was challenging given her advanced Semantic Dementia, a horrible progressive disease where the brain slowly loses function.
The staff were very professional and kept my mother clean and well fed,
despite her loss of function and appetite. For an extended period, she was immobile and relied on being placed in a wheelchair to join other residents in the communal areas.

Mum was a resident at Alexandra Grange for the last, quite difficult months of her life. From the very beginning, I felt fully supported by the staff who made this difficult journey so much more bearable. Communication was excellent, care was delivered with the utmost kindness and sensitivity and
myself and other members of the family were always made to feel most welcome and never a nuisance. The home was always spotless, tidy and well-presented and there were always plentiful supplies of coffee, tea and cake in the cafe. Mum loved having her hair and nails done every week and this really cheered her up, as did the weekly visit from babies and toddlers. She received excellent medical attention throughout, with weekly opportunities to see a doctor. Alexandra Grange was Mum's choice of home, and I feel that it was a wise and sensible one.

Mum (who recently passed away) lived at Alexandra Grange for over a year. The staff at the home are a great team who strive to give residents the best possible life. There is a weekly set of activities ranging from art, flower arranging, board games and baking. Days themed around different countries
happen monthly. Most weeks there is a mums and babies session that residents look forward to. Trips out for residents though are rather few and far between. Something that could most definitely be improved. The food is excellent and family members and friends can have meals with residents- at a cost. Residents are encouraged to bring items from home to personalise their rooms. This is a care home, not a nursing home which means that complex care needs can't always be met as a resident ages further. The home is reasonably well led and a GP visits weekly. The home offers hairdressing, nail care and podiatry included in the fees. There is also dental care available with a visiting hygienist (extra cost).

Having had a month of respite back in August, it was a clear favourite of my mum's when returning for a full-time care position. Nice welcome and the staff were pleased to see Mum. This helps enormously with the transition from home. All staff seem caring, and easy to deal with and Mum seems as
settled as I could hope for. Thanks.

My experience of Alexandra Grange goes back to my husband's stay and, sadly death, several years ago and also my own stay from time to time when I decided to retire from a busy world and live my retirement here for the rest of my days. I am happy here and love it still.
Thank you all.

Sorry to change my lifestyle, but could not have made a better choice with my new life, which I am happy and content. The home has been my extended family.

My 90+-year-old cousin moved into care at Alexandra Grange nine months ago. The home impressed her, me and other relatives when we viewed it. The admission process was smooth and handled with sensitivity and warmth. The care since then has matched those high standards, with my cousin being treated
as an individual, respected and valued. The staff are excellent and provide excellent care. The food, facilities and activities are all good.
My cousin's health has improved since she moved into Alexandra Grange, and there is excellent support from the doctors and other staff from the Health Centre.
As well as my relative's care, family and friends feel welcome when visiting. As my cousin's next of kin and Attorney, my questions or concerns are always listened to and given a positive, helpful and timely response.
I'd be happy to be in Alexandra Grange myself if I needed care though hopefully not for a few years yet.

Pleased with the arrangement generally which was for respite care. Generally, it is very good on all counts but meals could be served on time and would like less minced food and less overcooked. The staff were friendly and helpful and excellent.
