View Full Details of Belong AthertonMy mum came to Belong in July 2024. It was a very challenging time for all and Tyldesley Household made the transition seamlessly. Over the 11 months that mum was there, the care, love and support shown to her, and us as a family, was unconditional. At the time of her passing they went above and beyond for both her and us It is a truly remarkable place and there are no words to cover how grateful we are.
My mum came to Belong from another care home in April 2025. From the moment she arrived, she was made to feel welcome, as were her family. The staff are all fantastic and there are too many to mention here. Nothing is too much trouble for Mum and she is treated with care, dignity and respect. Her frequent visitors are also made very welcome. They encourage her to interact with social activities in the home. The recent D-Day celebrations were absolutely brilliant, although my mum found the transition from living independently to going into a home a challenge. She now feels completely at home in Belong. Thank you.
Sadly Mum had been in 4 previous nursing homes when we finally managed to secure a place for her at Belong Atherton. She only spent 6 weeks there until she sadly passed away but the care and compassion given to her in those weeks from all the staff but especially those on Chanters was amazing. Belong Atherton really do care about their residents and their families. Thank you to everyone who looked after Mum, I really cannot thank you enough.
My wife has only been in Belong 12 weeks, but the love, dignity and respect she has been shown has been nothing short of fabulous. This time is difficult for our family. But the Belong team have made a difficult time easier.
My husband died recently after spending twenty two months as a resident. Until three months before his death, he took part in the many social activities offered including going on trips. His end of life care was excellent. There was always someone to sit with him and reassure him when he became anxious as more and more time was spent in bed. The nursing care was excellent and towards the end, they were able to manage pain and agitation so that he was comfortable. All the staff also looked after my family and me finding time to listen and keep us in the picture. My husband was always treated with dignity and respect throughout his stay.
When I and my relatives visited our resident, we were greeted with a pleasant welcome and whatever time, day or night we arrived. We consider his care to be exemplary. As well as his physical needs, his spiritual needs were attended to, resulting in him receiving the last sacrament from our priest and thereby, assuring us of his place in heaven.
The atmosphere at Belong Atherton was welcoming and everywhere was clean. There was a distinct lack of uniforms, which made the home seem more like a real home and less like an institution. We particularly liked the fact that we could have a meal with our friend in the bistro and that she had a card to pay for food, which again mirrored how she would pay in a cafe. Her room had a balcony and the bed was a good size. So often in care homes, the beds are single size, which, when one has been in a situation of having a partner, and a double or larger bed, is difficult to adjust to. Our friend had been helped with her walking and was using a frame. Our dog was also welcomed and this was important to our friend. All together an uplifting experience.
My Father has been a resident of Chanters House at Belong Atherton for 3 years now and I can honestly say that in all that time I have never experienced anything but fantastic care and compassion from all the staff. The Lead Support Manager has always been exceptionally kind. In the early days, still during Covid restrictions, she listened and provided gentle reassurance. Her dedication to looking after the whole family, not just their resident, has ensured the whole team is a credit to her and themselves. All the staff show tender encouragement, and gentle care and ensure dignity to all residents all the time. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and it is as though they are caring for one of their relatives. I have nothing but praise for all the staff who look after Dad. They know his likes and dislikes and act accordingly with kindness and understanding. The whole atmosphere of Chanters is warm and friendly. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
I have been visiting my sister regularly once a fortnight for over five years. I am simply amazed at the facilities available, the optional programme of events, the open-to-the-public bistro, the family group structure (she is in Astley) ... but above all with the friendliness of the staff. I feel welcomed on every visit, with cheery waves and greetings. And staff routinely greet my sister by name as they are passing. They are as courteous and friendly when I phone as well. Staff also communicate swiftly and effectively if there are any issues that need a wider family involvement. In short I feel we, and my sister, are extraordinarily fortunate to have found this placement for her.
This is the only place we would have wanted our relative to be placed. The staff go above and beyond to make her feel comfortable and more importantly happy. Could not be more trusting of the staff.
Excellent in every respect, regarding Pretoria and Bistro staff. Also utmost cleanliness by dedicated staff. Really pleased that my wife is so well looked after.
Belong Atherton is always a pleasant experience. The Bistro downstairs is an excellent asset and my mother enjoys a trip there for coffee and cake or lunch when we visit. The staff are all very kind, caring and welcoming. My wife and I are very happy with the care my mother gets, the staff understand her and know her likes and dislikes. They always ring if there is an issue and get the doctor if required. She is happy and settled.
My husband has been a resident in Chanters Household since 2nd February 2021. During this time I and my family have nothing but praise for the staff of the household they are efficient and caring both for the resident and the extended family, we have never had any cause to complain during the 3 years. The support staff including management, clerical staff, receptionists and kitchen staff are very friendly and efficient. My husband is very happy and content here, I wouldn't want him anywhere else.
I cannot thank the team in Belong Atherton enough. They are professional, friendly, attentive and kind. They not only make my uncle comfortable but they also ensure that his wife - my aunty - is always kept informed and is welcome every time she visits. I am very pleased that they are both being treated with great respect by the team at Belong. The team's constant kindness makes a potentially stressful situation a lot less stressful. The team also clearly takes pride in the cleanliness of the entire residence - it is a lovely place in which my uncle is looked after. Thank you very much indeed.
Ashley Unit staff are so amazing. Each one of them go above and beyond. They are all caring and compassionate and treat everyone with dignity and respect. I know, asa daughter, how hard it is when your loved one is in care but Ashley staff give the reassurance that your loved one is cared for, their needs are met and that if there are any concerns you will be contacted immediately so that you can relax knowing your loved one is sage and card for.
It is a pleasure to see Mum being very well cared for and supported. Staff provide individualised support, prioritising Mum's dignity and well-being and encouraging her to maximise her mobility. I have peace of mind that she is in the best place possible.
I think the staff need a medal putting up with my mother-in-law. The treatments and food are brilliant.
I find the staff are all very smiley and friendly, especially the experience day team. Every time I spend my days here, I always leave with a smile on my face. The girls go above and beyond for me, and I can't thank them enough.
My sister-in-law suffers from multiple sclerosis which has become gradually worse after seizures have caused brain damage. Since being transferred to Belong Atherton, her care has been the peace of mind my wife much needed after losing both parents within three years of each other. The carers treat my sister-in-law in a dignified and respectful way. They have even bought some special cushions or gadgets for her while out in their personal shopping. The team of staff are supportive, friendly and proud of their profession at Belong Atherton.
Mum lived in the independent living side of Belong Atherton for seven years. She was very happy in her apartment and all the services and activities which were offered there. In 2022, Mum required additional help so we engaged Belong at Home who came in twice a day. They helped Mum with her medication, her breakfast and evening meal each day. We found this service to be excellent. In 2023, after a short stay in hospital, Mum became terminally ill and went into Chanters Household which is part of the residential side of Belong Atherton. The care which Mum received in the Chanters Household was excellent, she could not have received any better care. All the staff in the household were caring and loving to my mum, it was like having a second family. They helped Mum with all aspects of everyday living with kindness and respect. I have found that everyone who works for Belong Atherton is caring, respectful and helpful to the residents and families.
