View Full Details of The Forge Care CentreThe Forge has been excellent. When my Dad was taken into the centre, I was very worried as he has young-onset dementia. I live 5 hours away, so I am not able to be with him as much as I would like. The centre is homely, comfortable and ensures that his needs are met day and night. The staff are caring, compassionate, and follow his care plan and allow him to make choices. The centre is open 24 hours, so I can contact them at any time. The staff and manager are always available to talk about my Dad's care and any changes that may be needed to support him. The food is great and offers a lot of choice. They have daily activities set throughout the day to keep his mind active, and they have a beautiful garden where he can relax. They also have a specialist on-site mental health nurse who understands his care needs and is always available to chat; I don't ever feel a burden calling to ask for information. I would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who looks after my Dad and gives him
I am so happy with the placement here at the forge. The wait for a place that would accept someone with very challenging communication difficulties and behaviours which would stop some services offering care. At the forge people are seen as human beings and the compassion and care shown by the dedicated team is evident by how well my loved one has settled and thrived in only a few weeks. He is eating better. Sleeping better. Although non verbal he is smiling now. There is a real dementia understanding here. The management are so caring and so professional. They will not let you leave with a concern or worry. They listen and understand what it must be like allowing someone to go into care. We are so lucky we have found somewhere where the residents are at the heart of everything. The nurse team are so invested in wellbeing. Even the ancillary support team behind the care and treatment are very special people. You will not find a more knowledgeable caring or professional home
I am really sad because my dad passed away on Friday, and my mother passed away a little while ago. But I must give a shoutout to the whole team at The Forge Care Home. They have been amazing from day one. The care and respect they showed to my parents was second to none, not just to them but to our whole family. I got really friendly with many of the care staff and reception staff. They treat all the residents like family, and it is clear that it is not just a job to them. The care in meeting my parents' needs was second to none, and it takes special caring people to do what they do. To them, it is a vocation, not a job. Big thanks to every member of The Forge Care Home for making my parents feel at home. They should all be proud and please keep up the excellent work you do, including supporting families.
Very person-centred. Very flexible. Extremely caring. Accommodating activity team. Food, meals excellent. End of live care outstanding. I was able to sleep by Dad's side and stay with him 24/7. Even a camp bed was provided for me. Chefs made meals for me. Every member of the team from manager, chefs, cleaners, carers, nurses, and activity team are a credit to the care home industry. Please be proud. Team always put residents first. The Forge really is a big family. We feel blessed that Dad called it home.
I can only repeat what my sister has said, The Forge Care Home has been exceptional all the time from the day my mum went into The Forge the care and respect shown to my mother were exceptional, not just to our beautiful mum but to our family. I personally became very friendly with many of the care staff and reception staff. They treat all the residents as family. Thank you to each and every member of The Forge Care Home. We as a family will continue to support The Forge Care Home.
From the moment Mum arrived the kindness and care provided was exceptional. All staff are compassionate and caring, Mum wasn't just a resident she was part of the Forge family. Staff had a lot of patience and time, not only with our mum, who at times could be very difficult, but also to Mum's family. We are a large family and visited daily and every time we were welcomed (day/night), updated on Mum's day etc. and they talked to us, clearly explaining everything so we could understand. Before we chose The Forge, we visited a different care home and we knew The Forge was the best place for Mum! This gave us a lot of comfort from day one!
My mother in her last month of life, the staff in the care home were very caring, loving and respectful to my mother and family near the end. Nearly two years my mother was in The Forge Care Home in Cardiff and I cannot praise them all enough. They are a credit to the profession. The care and dedication to my mum will never be forgotten.
Due to my living location most of my communication with the home was through telephone conversations which, on a few occasions, what I was told was different when my family visited. When I was able to visit the care home in person, I could see the care my mother was receiving was of a very high standard. It was lovely to see how the staff took time out to say goodbye to my mother prior to her passing. When my mother was at End of Life the staff went out of their way to comfort and care for the family who were there at that time, whilst at the same time caring for my mother.
The care that my dad has from the Forge team is 5 star. To be able to know that he receives the best care is such a relief to my family. From playing games, to playing tennis and organising special meals ie Valentine's Day for him and my mum is just so special. We as a family recommend The Forge Care Home 100 % and are so happy with the care and love Dad receives from everyone.
After visiting many Care Homes in Cardiff during 2012, I chose The Forge for my dad due to his Alzheimer's. He was only here 6 months but he was well looked after and happy. He even put on weight! Then 5 years ago my Mum also developed a similar condition. Again I visited a number of homes around Cardiff but The Forge impressed me the most and together we decided this was the best for her. My Mum had difficulty settling in at first but nothing was too much trouble for the management and carers helping my Mum to settle. The Nurses even allowed her to 'help' giving my mum a sense of purpose. She particularly likes the food, saying it is like the real 'home cooking' she used to make. A number of times she has commented just how clean and tidy it is without that smell associated with similar institutions. When she was fitter she enjoyed joining in the fun and games provided by the entertainment staff. And thanks to the reception staff; nothing is ever too much trouble!
We chose the Forge, of the five care homes we visited, because we felt it had heart. We were introduced to residents as well as shown the facilities which gave me a sense that staff have meaningful relationships with everyone. I was a bit concerned about the size of the dad's living room but found that he moves around the whole building, depending on the many activities they do. He is also making the most of the garden. I've been kept up to date on GP visits and medical plans. All the staff I've met have been brilliant. Dad finds it hard to express himself but staff have taken time to get to know him and understand what makes him happy and, crucially, how to reassure him when he's uncomfortable e.g. during personal care. He is also eating properly for the first time in years. It's been a stressful few years and I can't thank the Forge enough now I know that dad is safe and content and my mum can start to build a life again.
My mother has been at The Forge Care Centre for nearly a year now. I have to say that all the staff there give the best care that they can provide and they really do care about my mother. It's also very much person-centred care. The staff keep me informed of anything I need to know or activities that's going on, day trips etc and if I would like to attend. My mother has Dementia and things were getting too much for her at home, she was eating/drinking very little and sleeping a lot and just generally going down hill. Since she's been at The Forge Care Centre she has a great appetite, awake for longer periods of time and smiling, laughing and chatting. I feel my mother is very happy there and this makes me also very happy and comforted that she is well cared for.
For the first time in many years, my husband is happy. This is because the staff have all worked to make him feel safe and content. I can only speak very highly of all aspects of his care. He had been refusing to eat for some time but he's been enjoying his meals since being at The Forge. Thank you to the manager and her team!
The staff gave excellent care to my bother, they were like his second family. It takes a certain type of person to be able to care for someone the way they cared for my brother, no task was too difficult and they always gave 100%.
In all honesty, when my dad needed to go from a care home to a nursing home, we didn't have much choice due to vacancies, and moving from a quiet area to a busy main road I did have my doubts, but after 3 months of him being in The Forge, I'm glad he is where is. The staff seem lovely and caring and the activities they get the service users involved are fantastic. I'm happy where he is.
Our mum has been a resident here since September 2019. Can't express enough how much care, love and devotion has been given to our beautiful mum. All the care staff are wonderful and so patient with her. The activities are excellent and varied, the activities staff are excellent at their job entertaining the residents. Management and nursing staff are very efficient and helpful to us if we need answers to ease our minds and are wonderful to Mum. I have recommended this home already to numerous people and will carry on doing so in the future. Thank you so much for looking after our special mum so wonderfully. Many thanks.
The whole team are incredible. The care is person-centred and based on what has been learnt about the residents. The staff know who likes what; they understand individual triggers and are always calm and patient in sometimes difficult situations. We are blessed to have found this place to love and care for our dad and would be devastated if he ever had to leave.
Mum has been getting the best care with the lovely staff and surroundings. Top-class care home. Staff are doing a great job. There are lots of activities, it’s nice and lively the residents on Mum's floor all look well cared for and happy. Staff are flexible and we are always made very welcome.
Our grandma has been a resident for coming up to 8 years now and she is so well looked after. We are unfortunately not in the area to be able to visit as much as we’d like but it’s a great comfort knowing she’s in such good hands and cared for so well. The social media page is a great tool, meaning we can see up-to-date photos and things Grandma may have been up to, or just recently her birthday pictures. The times I’ve spoken to staff on the phone they’ve been extremely helpful and discussed Grandma with such kindness. We are very grateful for the staff who care for Grandma and everyone at The Forge Care Centre.
I would not hesitate in recommending Forge Care Home, they have been my mum's family throughout Covid when we could not go. They treat her with love and care and I feel fortunate to have such a good care facility that is truly a 'home' and I thank all of their staff for everything they do.
