My experience of Southborough Care Home has been exceptional. My relative was in poor health and low mood when she arrived, due to inappropriate care at the previous facility. Since taking up residence at Southborough, her condition has improved beyond what I thought was possible. She genuinely seems to be content and happy, which is something I haven't seen for as long as I can recall. Southborough has a welcoming atmosphere and staff know all of the residents well. It appears to be very well run and residents have ready access to snacks and drinks, which adds to the homely ambience. Residents are treated as individuals and changes are made as the need arises. There are no unpleasant smells in the building and my relative is always in a clean and presentable state. Communications are prompt and appropriate and funds that I deposit are used to purchase any items or services required. My relative is offered frequent and regular access to the community through tailored outings.
Due to the loss of our mother, we needed to find a suitable accomodation for my brother who has cerebral palsy as she was his sole carer. Southborough care home was our first visit and we did not need to look any more. My brother instantly felt comfortable with the care staff and his room, we felt totally confident that my brother's complex needs would be met after talking to the head carer. When we first met Nicola (care home manager) she instantly had a care plan in her head for my brother, which also made us sure that this was the best place for my brother's needs. 3 months in and we are so glad we had the opportunity to place my brother in Southborough care home. He is loving the other service users, staff and the activities. He is thriving and finally has his smile back, for that I will always be very grateful to Nicola and her fabulous staff.
Our relative has received excellent care. When admitted she was in poor health despite our efforts to keep her in her own home, she was not eating properly and loosing weight. She has since being admitted to Southborough put on weight and appears to be content. This includes the care and stimulation she receives. Nicola keeps us fully informed of her progress. We are deeply satisfied with that care.
Since arriving I feel that I have been healed and rehabilitated. There is still more room for improvemen. During the last twelve years circumstances beyond my control led me to a dire situation which caused position in Southborough. Some aspects of my life cause me to derail and forget how I used to live. Although I could manage to live my life perfectly well I was restricted in certain methods of how I conducted my life. Southborough have reminded me of what I was missing. I have learned how to socialise more and the activities are helping me to enhance my education. My vegan food has put my health and fitness back on track. The staff always help me when they are free. My bedroom and en-suite ensure my privacy and dignity and everywhere is clean and tidy. I feel I am kept safe and secure from the outside world and more than value for money.
My aunt had dementia, and her care and treatment she received was exceptional. She had complex needs, but everything was taken care of with dignity, compassion and care. Any queries were dealt with promptly, and any issues with her health that arose I was informed straight away. She was always clean, well-fed, and well cared for. When she passed, the staff were extremely respectful. I still visit the home with my dog to see the other residents. Highly recommend.
Our relative has been very happy and stimulated on her recent respite stay. The staff are always professional, kind and considerate when caring for her. The manager is kind and very efficient and open/responsive to questions/requests. We could not have wanted a more safe, kind and caring environment for our relative to live in. Thank you for all your support and care to our relative and enabling the family to have a relaxing respite, she is looking forward to future visits.
My stepmother is very happy at Southborough. She constantly tells people everyone is wonderful. The staff are lovely and welcoming when I visit. The home is spotlessly clean and never smells. I am always informed if my stepmother is feeling unwell and they contact her GP. There is a relaxed atmosphere. Staff are always happy to accommodate any queries I have.
Southborough Care Home I have found to be excellent in all areas, the care and attention they have shown to my aunt has been faultless and I would recommend the home to all. The staff are very professional and caring.
A safe environment for my sister. Looked after at home feeling. Great communication. Informed of any issues. My sister is happy and content here.
My initial impression was that it was a very friendly care home. The day rooms were cosy and comfortable, and the patient's rooms were clean and tidy. The staff were caring, attentive and always ready to assist with the needs of the patients. I would therefore have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
From day one of our Grandmother going into Southborough Care Home, we have found the staff to be friendly, helpful and professional. Our relation continues to be cared for to a very high standard. I would recommend the care home to anyone.
I am completing this review as my dad would find difficulty in completing the form. I have found the staff are co-operative, helpful and responsive. There appears to be a good choice of meals, and medical issues are dealt with promptly. Staff appear to have a good awareness of the needs of the residents. Dad does get muddled at times and needs encouragement to be involved in activities and conversations.
The manager of Southborough Care Home is very aware of her responsibilities. She takes care to understand the residents need and are helpful to relatives. Staff are polite and understanding.
My mother has only recently taken up residence at Southborough following a recommendation. From the outset, the welcome was sincere, and the attitude towards Mum was overwhelmingly caring. Nothing was too much trouble. Videos and photos were sent, which assured us that Mum was happy and thriving. My brother and I have noticed that Mum is relaxed and comfortable with her surroundings. I could not speak more highly of the owner and her team.
Mum has lived at Southborough Care Home for three years. During this time, the staff have shown her care, dignity and respect. They practise a holistic approach to care; giving and take time to really get to know their residents. They know the values that are important to our family and help Mum achieve them. We are so grateful to every member of staff for keeping Mum safe this year.
I wish to say how very blessed I feel to be in this excellent care home. To feel really cared for and never feeling lonely. I do try to be helpful whenever I can - I am truly grateful.
My mum has been un Southborough Care Home for nearly three years, and I can't praise enough. The care she gets is outstanding from the amazing management and staff to the lovely home-cooked meals. My mum has been so happy there and is looked after, and her needs met in every way. I would recommend this care home to everyone; it is fantastic, so caring and friendly to clients and their family.
My mother has been a resident since 2010- my father joined her in April 2016. My mother has advanced Alzheimer's /dementia- she is in her own room, receives regular meals and the standards of care from staff is good. My father is full of praise for the home and frequently declares his satisfaction in being a resident in recent weeks. I and my brothers are regular visitors and find the staff cheerful and welcoming. The rooms occupied by my parents are clean, bright and made personal to them. My only concern is that my mother is left for considerable periods of time alone without stimulation.
From my very first visit, I and any visitors that have subsequently been looking at the home have always been greeted and treated with friendly courtesy and offered refreshments. Family and friends have as I have all been surprised and pleased to see how quickly my husband has settled happily into the home, with no problems having to return. He enjoys a walk and sitting in the garden there. He is kept clean and shaved with trimmed hair, very presentable and dressed in suitable clothes. He looks very well looked after and has unusually gained weight. The security is excellent, so very necessary. It is a great relief to see him so relaxed and comfortable for which I am very grateful.
