Southborough Home in Chelmsford opened as a residential home registered for ten older residents.

The Home has been completely refurbished, with all rooms being en-suite, and has a spacious garden. It also benefits from being close to the town centre, with all of its excellent amenities, such as cinema, theatre, bowling, swimming, ice-rink, parks and shopping centres. All staff have been carefully selected and trained to a high standard to assist the residents to achieve their full potential.

It is their aim to help service users lead happy dignified lives, and to become and remain as self reliant and independent as possible.

Our relative has been very happy and stimulated on her recent respite stay. The staff are always professional, kind and considerate when caring for her. The manager is kind and very efficient and open/responsive to questions/requests. We could not have wanted a more safe, kind and caring environment
for our relative to live in. Thank you for all your support and care to our relative and enabling the family to have a relaxing respite, she is looking forward to future visits.

My stepmother is very happy at Southborough. She constantly tells people everyone is wonderful. The staff are lovely and welcoming when I visit. The home is spotlessly clean and never smells. I am always informed if my stepmother is feeling unwell and they contact her GP. There is a relaxed atmosphere.
Staff are always happy to accommodate any queries I have.

My initial impression was that it was a very friendly care home. The day rooms were cosy and comfortable, and the patient's rooms were clean and tidy. The staff were caring, attentive and always ready to assist with the needs of the patients. I would therefore have no hesitation in recommending this

I am completing this review as my dad would find difficulty in completing the form. I have found the staff are co-operative, helpful and responsive. There appears to be a good choice of meals, and medical issues are dealt with promptly. Staff appear to have a good awareness of the needs of the residents.
Dad does get muddled at times and needs encouragement to be involved in activities and conversations.

My mother has only recently taken up residence at Southborough following a recommendation. From the outset, the welcome was sincere, and the attitude towards Mum was overwhelmingly caring. Nothing was too much trouble. Videos and photos were sent, which assured us that Mum was happy and thriving. My
brother and I have noticed that Mum is relaxed and comfortable with her surroundings. I could not speak more highly of the owner and her team.

My mum has been un Southborough Care Home for nearly three years, and I can't praise enough. The care she gets is outstanding from the amazing management and staff to the lovely home-cooked meals. My mum has been so happy there and is looked after, and her needs met in every way. I would recommend this
care home to everyone; it is fantastic, so caring and friendly to clients and their family.

My mother has been a resident since 2010- my father joined her in April 2016. My mother has advanced Alzheimer's /dementia- she is in her own room, receives regular meals and the standards of care from staff is good. My father is full of praise for the home and frequently declares his satisfaction in
being a resident in recent weeks. I and my brothers are regular visitors and find the staff cheerful and welcoming. The rooms occupied by my parents are clean, bright and made personal to them. My only concern is that my mother is left for considerable periods of time alone without stimulation.

From my very first visit, I and any visitors that have subsequently been looking at the home have always been greeted and treated with friendly courtesy and offered refreshments. Family and friends have as I have all been surprised and pleased to see how quickly my husband has settled happily into the
home, with no problems having to return. He enjoys a walk and sitting in the garden there. He is kept clean and shaved with trimmed hair, very presentable and dressed in suitable clothes. He looks very well looked after and has unusually gained weight. The security is excellent, so very necessary. It is a great relief to see him so relaxed and comfortable for which I am very grateful.

My mother was admitted to Southborough following a series of falls, hospitalisation and was then unable to cope at home. Southborough have made her very welcome and she is happy there. The home is immaculately clean, food all home cooked with excellent choices at all meal times. Her room is lovely,
with en-suite. They even provided a special air mattress to make her more comfortable. Staff are so friendly, informative and caring - can't do enough to help.We are so pleased we decided to place her at Southborough.She is so well looked after and in safe capable hands. We would not hesitate to recommend this to future residents and their families.
