View Full Details of Barchester Marnel Lodge Care HomeAfter making the difficult decision for our brother in law to go into a care home following numerous hospital admissions and declining health , we couldn't have made a better choice than Marnel Lodge. The admission process was made very easy by all staff involved, and right from the start it was a warm and welcoming environment . The care given by everyone is excellent , and we were given regular updates on any health concerns, which were dealt with promptly and efficiently. The various activities , outings and entertainment provide a great social atmosphere , and stimulating environment , and you feel as though you are part of one large family.
We have been visiting a sick friend with Parkinson's for the last three years. He was unable to move but his brain was still brilliant. An added complication was his autism which made things doubly difficult for Marnel Lodge. He was not an easy patient! Throughout this time we have met with nothing but efficiency from the admin staff and a truly caring attitude from the nursing staff. We were especially touched when three members of staff travelled to the funeral. I simply cannot fault any aspect of the place and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marnel Lodge to anyone considering a Nursing Home for a loved one.
Dad has Dementia, Diabetes and mobility issues. After living with me for nearly a year we decided my home wasn't able to cope with his needs. We looked at several care homes, but when we saw the outside of Marnel Lodge with all its Union Jack bunting to celebrate VE Day, Dad was hooked. We were invited in for a coffee and some cake and a warm welcome. They answered our questions and offered to show us around. Dad was assessed by the manager and started a 2 week respite all within 5 days. Whilst we were both nervous about this change Dad decided to stay full time within his 1st week. They are keen too know Dad and me. There are a lot of activities due to an amazing activities team. The care staff are patient and supportive and go the extra mile to assist Dad. The nurses have managed to help with Dads diabetes and general wellbeing. It really is a home from home. The management team really do get involved with the residents and their families. Thank you so much
You know that feeling you have when you've found a place that you just know is the one ? Marnel Lodge is that place. Our Dad has been a resident here since March 25. The home doesn't just take on a person, they take the whole family on. The warm welcome we have received from everyone has been wonderful. They have put our minds at ease. We know that our Dad is being shown kindness, dignity, respect and support. The whole team show professionalism, care and commitment to all the residents. The leadership at Marnel Lodge is strong. You can sense that staff are supported and the morale is high. I love that you can get yourself a cup of tea, chat with staff and residents and feel like you're part of the Marnel family.
My Mum came to Marnel Lodge care home towards the end of 2024 with increasing frailty as a result of advanced Dementia. The home was recommended to me by a friend who's relative had spent many happy years there. The home itself is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated with lots of family-friendly spaces. I am always impressed by the hard work, dedication and kindness of the nurses, care staff and activities organisers and there is a full and varied schedule every week of events. It is never an easy decision to place a loved one into full-time care but I do think it gives peace of mind to the family and continuity of care to the resident. I feel Mum is in safe hands and all her needs (and more!) are being met.
Marnel is a home from home all staff go out of there way to be friendly and helpful in any way they can and they really care about the residents. It is always so nice and clean which is very important and there is always something going on for the residents so they are always engaged if they want to be but can find a nice quiet place if so wish to. You can feel totally at ease that your loved one will be cared for with kindness and respect when this difficult decision has to be made.
I needed assistance when I came out of hospital before I went home so booked time at Marnel Lodge. I didn't really know what to expect however I can't thank all the staff and management enough they were so friendly, caring, patient, understanding and made me feel very welcome. Thank you for helping me get on my road to recovery.
I decided to do Respite Care for myself after a hip replacement, looked on internet and found Marnel Lodge, which was close to my home. Went to have a look, as I really didn't know what to expect. The moment I walked, I was made to feel very welcome. Everything was explained to me , they showed me around. So on the 13/11/24 I arrived at 5:30pm from hip replacement op, staying for 2 weeks. What a 2 weeks it was, absolutely fantastic. I was at least 30 years younger than the other residents, but that wasn't a problem. Staff were so friendly, caring and always had time for you. I had a great time getting to know my elders and had a great fun, joining them in the different activities offered. I made some lovely new friends with staff and residents. It was just what I needed, rest, making rehab much quicker. I have been back to visit and again was welcomed with open arms by staff and new found friends . They have just finished having a refurb, which is beautiful. Highly recommend
I am a weekly visitor to Marnel Lodge as I have a friend who has been a resident for two years I would highly recommend this home to anyone it is a happy home where the staff go above and beyond to give the residence the best care my friend enjoys weekly trips out and has no end of activities as well as entertainers visiting regularly . It is a very Modern home kept spotless with a garden area where family are always invited to attend BBQs in the summer
Friendly staff, kind and chatty with residents and visitors. Home clean and comfortable. Very much like the coffee area, apart from acoustics makes hearing difficult, especially for anyone with hearing problems. Think the food is satisfactory but quality in some instances could be better, e.g. sausages, soup etc. could be a bit tastier, especially as regards value for money. Activities seem good, I know my mum-in-law enjoys them.
The care, compassion and love provided at Barchester Marnel Lodge Care Home for my father was truly fantastic. The staff are kind, considerate, attentive and my father enjoyed their company. The staff were always very welcoming of myself and other family visitors. The compassion, respectfulness and support provided at my father's passing was very touching and helpful. I could not recommend Marnel Lodge more highly.
Initially Dad came for respite care for two weeks at Barchester Marnel Lodge Care Home after coming out of hospital and returned home for independent living, until May 2023 when he became a full time resident at Marnel Lodge. From Dad's first day at Marnel Lodge until his last he has received excellent care, compassion and support from all the staff. I have been coming up to Marnel Lodge on regular visits to see Dad and regard the staff as my friends and extended family, so I'll miss visiting Marnel Lodge now. Dad's had a lot of fun and laughter during his stay at Marnel Lodge especially in his early times here, regularly winning the bingo, singing songs when the singer came in. Playing the piano himself in the lounge on occasions. Enjoying the camaraderie and friendship of the staff & fellow residents. I suppose what I'm simply trying to say is that this place became Dad's home and he felt very comfortable, content and happy here. So thank you to all the staff at Marnel Lodge for making that possible.
Mum moved to Marnel Lodge in December 2023 in a bit of a rush as she'd sadly suffered a stroke and lost her inability to live independently. We were devastated when the hospital wanted to discharge her so close to Christmas, it was such a stressful time for us all. Her placement at Marnel was only supposed to be temporary whilst we awaited a vacancy at her first choice of care home, but we've since made the decision for her to stay there permanently as the care she's received has been second to none. The staff are so friendly and keep you updated with every change or notification, we never have to worry about Mum's safety or happiness which is so comforting. The staff know Mum well which shows us they take the time to know her on a personal level, she loves the food, and the atmosphere is always positive and vibrant. Particular thanks to one member of staff in particular who answers all my random questions and always responds immediately, and another member of staff who calls me regularly with health and well-being updates. Would 100% recommend.
Our mother loved being at Marnel Lodge; she called it home. She became very attached to her carers and other staff all of whom are kind, considerate, supportive and happy to accommodate Mum's needs, nothing was too much trouble. Marnels excellent care starts with each individual carer, and their actions and sense of responsibility to the residents. The home is modern, and the decor is light and bright and of an excellent standard. There are lots of other activities which cater for all interests and abilities which provide interaction with other residents and friendships were formed. Outside is a lovely garden which she loved to sit in. My sister and I were happy that she was able to receive the best care and we would have no hesitation in recommending Marnel.
Mum has been made very welcome and comfortable and she is being looked after very well, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Her room is lovely, nice even temperature with a lovely view of the garden. All nursing and care staff are very approachable and are extremely hard-working.
I am a full-time carer for my husband at home and finding Marnel Lodge Care Home for respite care has been a saving grace for me this last year. He has been to Marnel Lodge four times this year. In October I needed respite care for my husband at short notice and I was able to get him there within a few days. The staff at all levels are friendly, helpful, professional and caring. He enjoys his food (which is excellent) and is very content with his accommodation. I know he is in safe hands and well looked after.
Mum is often unsettled and confused day to day but the staff are always happy to engage with her to ensure that she is happy and encourages her to join in with activities and other residents. She is happiest in the company of the staff and residents and enjoys listening to the music in the lounge.
When my brother-in-law was admitted, he was very poorly and confused. Since he has been with yourselves, he has recovered both mentally and physically, no doubt down to the staff and doctors in the home. He is enjoying his stay because, as he says, he feels safe and secure, on his own at home he felt very vulnerable and couldn't look after himself.
My nana lives at Marnel Lodge. She has complex needs but is treated with dignity and respect. She always looks good. She looks like my nana even though she is frail now. She looks happy, especially when I pop in to see her. I am made to feel welcome when I come to Marnel Lodge. Thank you to the hard-working team.
My mother enjoyed a new lease on life at Marnel Lodge Care Home, she connected meaningfully with staff and other residents and at the age of 84 found a new best friend. The care Mum received was beautiful, the attention to detail in the housekeeping was excellent and Mum enjoyed the activities put on each week. She particularly loved the musical concerts and walking around the beautiful garden. The staff also supported us as a family and even through the Covid pandemic, they did all they could to help us connect with Mum and keep everyone safe.
