View Full Details of Parklands Care HomeThe charge nurse and social worker were pleasant. They had taken the time to discuss Mum and if she was settling into Parklands. We discussed her safety, falls, medication, mood, sleep, personal hygiene and nutrition. This was a positive meeting. I feel listened to and they signposted what to do if I had questions in future. Their manner and support to me was kind and compassionate.
My mother has been in Parklands for 4 months now and has settled in very well thanks to the kindness of the staff. I visit her at least once a week, often on different days and at different times, so I meet various carers and nurses, all of whom are friendly and caring. Whilst Mum doesn't like to leave her room, we did recently enjoy listening to a wonderful choir which Mum thoroughly enjoyed. Mum moved from England and both Diane and Edna made the process easy for me and Mum. At a particularly stressful time, they were kind and helpful and I will always be so grateful for that.
My aunt became a resident at Parklands Care Home, Alloa, at the start of 2025. From our first enquiry with Diane and Edna, the experience was seamless. They listened to our concerns and wishes for our aunt. Our aunt struggled with sleeping in a single bed, this led to a disturbed night's sleep, this started to impact on her quality of life. The staff tried everything, changed beds, took the wooden sides off, but still no sleep. Diane took the situation to her MDT and discussed a bariatric bed, after a risk assessment it was all go. Bed arrived, maintenance spend the day building the new bed. It looks amazing, but most of all our aunt now has a comfortable night's sleep. Quality of life improved so much.
My sister was a resident in Parklands for 16 months before she passed away. During this time, my sister was treated with respect and dignity. Staff made every effort to ensure her needs were met. Nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were of a high standard, excellent meals and cleanliness kept to a high standard. If any issue arose, it was rectified immediately. I have peace of mind that my sister's last remaining months were a happy time for her.
Sadly my mother passed away in Parklands this month and the care given to her and my family at the end was overwhelming. We were called in the early hours of the morning to attend as soon as possible, and unfortunately we arrived minutes after mum passing. The nurse in attendance was so warm, welcoming and understanding at such a difficult time. While myself and my wife were in shock she spoke to my mother with such care and dignity, wishing her peace going forward. She truly melted our hearts and spoke to us with such compassion and professionalism we were truly thankful that she was with mum at the end. To have a nurse with such high qualities, being warm-hearted, tender and affectionate at such an emotional time, we were truly blessed.
The moment we walked into the care home everything was perfect. It is run to a very high standard, exceptionally clean. Staff all very courteous and helpful. They all know my dad and always call him by his first name. I am very happy with Parklands the management and staff always take time to speak to us and nothing is ever a problem. Five stars!
After visiting several care homes in the Alloa's Hillfoots area we decided on Parklands . It appeared more up to date decor and furnishing wise. On visiting we were greeted with a warm welcome friendly smile given a guided tour of the home and the different areas where the residents can relax and enjoy many activities that are organised within the home. As this was for an older sister who was no longer able to look after herself at home anymore we wanted to have it as homely as possible.Nothing was a problem the questions we asked were answered with no hesitation. Just the fact that she is having 3 /4 meals a day is a relief. Also she has assistance to shower and get dressed in the mornings. .In Parklands we don't have that worry she is always very well presented.I can't thank the staff enough for the care and attention they give her just at Christmas time she was really poorly breathing wasn't easy but they kept us uptodate with every visit from the doctor when needed .
My Aunt stayed at Parklands Care Home over 6 months and was looked after and cared for very well. The staff and especially the nurses were attentive to all her needs. Her room and sleeping area were kept immaculately clean and the care home was well-presented and didn't smell like you expect in a typical care home.
My Mum is a resident at Parklands Care Home and has a lovely room with an ensuite. The staff are very attentive and caring, you can tell they build a bond with the residents which is lovely to see. The new manager is fantastic and always has time for a chat. I was really nervous about placing Mum in care but I feel better knowing she is in Parklands and is well looked after.
Parklands is a well-designed, pleasing place to visit. I find the staff attentive and caring. The management are welcoming and easy to approach. Communications are good and issues are followed up as required. My gran is always well-dressed and generally enjoys being there.
Our gran has been a resident in Parklands for over a year now and we couldn't be happier or more satisfied with the care she receives. It was an overwhelming process when we were selecting a care home for her but from the hospital visit from the manager through to the welcome she received it instantly put our minds at rest. During the reviews I always had faith in the information I was given as it was specific to Gran's interests and character, I genuinely believe they have taken the time to get to know her and encourage her hobbies and need for a blether. I find it encouraging that the manager remembered our names after only meeting with him once, and another particular staff member is so helpful and another has such kindness for the residents, our gran loves her! The nursing team are fantastic, they remain on top of Gran's medical conditions and act promptly when needed - all with a smile! Thank you to Parklands for helping us make sure Gran has the quality of life she deserves, we would be lost without you!
A safe and comfortable environment. Staff very attentive and caring to my mother who has been resident since mid-March 2024. This is my first experience of having a relative in care, so I have nothing to compare it against, however I am very happy with the attitude and care shown by Management and Staff, not only to my mother but also myself, my brother and sons when we visit.
I’m sorry to report this but my mother's room was absolutely stinking of urine again this was the worst it has ever been I’m glad I took in air freshener as I literally couldn't breathe it was that bad. Her leg looks as though it was badly swollen again. The manager is very good at his job trying to mingle with the residents I do hope he is staying. The only other thing is I don’t know who my mum's care worker is they keep changing but I never get told who she has.
I had to find a care home for an elderly friend requiring full nursing care, and I'm so glad I picked Parklands. My 91-year-old friend was very frail and stayed in the home for two months until he died. He received wonderful care during that time, and I cannot compliment the staff enough for looking after him in the last days of his life.
Lovely, happy home where all my aunt's needs are addressed. Staff so obliging and approachable. Good food and recreation all relevant. Christmas events are very appropriate and uplifting for residents. A lot of thought put into entertaining and looking after the safety and care of residents.
My father-in-law has resided here since mid-July 2023. From the 1st point of contact with the manager to the domestic assistants who ensure his clothes are laundered. I cannot fault the commitment towards ensuring he has the best quality of life. The communication between us and all staff is open and constant. They work closely with the whole team around him to ensure his well-being in all aspects of his life. He’s struggled to engage and they are resilient in their attempts to support his transition to group living. We have regular communication and the extensive activity planner is second to none. If we have any queries or worries the open door policy of the manager and staff team is available at any time. As someone who works in the care sector, I have to say this is a cut about the norm.
I visited my mother-in-law who told me how lonely and bored she feels. Although she suffers from dementia the quality of her life would be much improved by exercise and mental stimulation. She needs to be persuaded to eat with others and to join in all the available activities. The hem on her trousers was ripped- this was a lady who was always smart and immaculately dressed with beautifully manicured nails. They are now often long and dirty. She deserves better.
During my uncle's stay, we found the Care Home to be amazing in more ways than one. Right from the moment he was taken there till the day he passed away on 3rd July 2023. All staff and nurses were approachable and attentive in all aspects of care and nursing needed. He was well looked after and nothing was a problem. Clean spotless and comfortable surroundings made it a pleasure for us to leave him in their care. Thank you to everyone involved for his care.
After viewing numerous care homes we decided Parklands Care Home in Alloa was the one for our brother. During his stay, he was well cared for and enjoyed the friendly banter with the staff. The home is well designed allowing residents to move around the corridors with ease. The staff encourage the residents to participate in the activities available each day. The sunflower lounge/cafe is a lovely peaceful room where residents can take their visitors and enjoy tea, coffee and delicious home baking. Every member of staff went above and beyond to make sure his needs were met to the highest standard as they were to his family on their daily visits. We would have no hesitation recommending Parklands to anyone looking for a lovely home for their loved ones.
We chose Parklands Care Home after viewing a number of homes and the warm feeling from when we visited from the staff was very positive. The care home is modern with good facilities. Each bedroom is spacious and fitted out with nice furniture with plenty of storage and a private en-suite with a shower. The home is spotless and is run like a 5* hotel and my elderly uncle couldn't have asked for more. There was regular entertainment and a monthly activity planner in place with staff genuinely getting involved in fun days. My uncle enjoyed all the meals with the menu changing daily and various choices available and no excuse needed to eat cake daily, even for breakfast if he chose to! The staff are absolutely brilliant, and very evident that they loved their job. My uncle was safe and very well cared for with dignity and genuine warmth and kindness. In addition, the support they showed our family was just amazing. Highly recommend and will miss my wee visits to Parklands.
