View Full Details of Hopton Cottage Care HomeMy parents were both in Hopton for over 3 years, Dad died May of last year and Mum passed away July this year(both aged 94). I cannot praise all the staff enough for the dedication they all show into making sure that their residents are treated with so much love and respect. My Mum had dementia and over the 3 years it became much more advanced but everybody at Hopton, whatever their role, always took the time to just sit, hold her hand and talk to her about her life and I felt that my Mum and Dad (and my husband and I)were part of a large loving family. The home is immaculate, the food exceptional and the entertainment team go above and beyond to organise outings, concerts, games nights, arts and crafts and lots of parties for various events to which families are all invited. The end of life care given was exceptional and my Mum and Dad were cherished and loved. All the staff at Hopton are angels and if you need a Care Home for your loved one, choose Hopton , they are the best.
We as a family cannot thank Hopton enough for the care our Mum received whilst a resident of this care home!, The care given was the best it could of ever been, she was safe content & very well cared for, the activity team always included her & gave her the best possible days filled with singing & laughter it was actually a joy to watch. So thank you :) the environment, the rooms, the cleanliness & staff was 100% Mum felt very safe & well cared for, In her final days she was treated with dignity which made us feel very warm inside. I too believe the staff should be applauded for there work. Thank you Thank You Thank you
we transferred Mum to Hopton cottage from a care home that had failed to meet any basic standards of care for Mum so family were anxious that this new provider would meet our expectations. from the first conversation with the manager right the way through the process of arranging assessment and admission the process and communication with mum and us as a family was superb. the attention to detail re getting to know who the person was that would be joining them and what our expectation was of mum moving over to them was as a clinician myself reassuring to see real person centred care being applied. I cannot fault the well thought out environment, attention to detail for each individual resident and the care and attention given to mum and her family throughout her time with them until her sad death. each and everyone one we encountered were superb and Mum loved being there. the care and respect for residents in their care is to be applauded, they are an exemplar of elderly care.
All staff were friendly and helpful. Standard of care was high and relevant to the person's needs.
Mum has been a resident for the past 9 years sadly passing away recently at the ripe old age of 99yrs. From the onset she settled in very quickly enjoying the freedom of her own room with all required amenities and a large patio area where she could tend her plants and relax on a bench. We spent many hours sitting out chatting about what activities she'd been up to and the enjoyable trips out Hopton provided including regular visits by dogs, ponies and children. She also loved dancing and socialising with members of staff. The care given by everyone is second to none, from management, carers, entertainment team, reception staff, laundry cleaners they all do a fantastic job and the food provided is excellent. Mum was treat with dignity and respect right to end of life and cannot thank the amazing staff enough. I have no hesitation in recommending this family run business to anyone having to make the awful decision to put a member of their family in a care home. Thank you Hopton.
Whilst my mother in law in was at the Hopton she was so happy and I am sure she felt safe and at home. Sadly has her dementia impacted on her independence the care and support she received was brilliant. Her personal care was of the highest order. Nothing was too much for the staff and management. Communication was very good especially when she was struggling with her health. We always felt like one of the family when we visited. The support we received when my mother in laws journey began was amazing. We never felt alone. Thank you
My mother had advanced dementia and was a resident in the Greenway area at Hopton for over 2 years. I lived in Bath and although Hopton was a long way to come and visit Mum, we did not once think to try and move her as the homes in our area were nowhere near as good! They promoted independence and stimulation which in turn leads to self respect and dignity for residents. There was no TV on blaring out in the lounge, but wonderful "old-time music" with stimulating games, arts and crafts were also done. As Mum's dementia advanced Hopton adapted her care to suit her needs. Mum was always beautifully dressed. Her skin and nails were always done and she enjoyed the trips to the in-house hairdresser. Mum was always cheerful and full of smiles. The wonderful caring staff were at the core of Hopton and the care was first class. Thank you Hopton for all your wonderful care, I just wish other homes had your wonderful and individual approach to looking after advanced Dementia.
I was so impressed with Hopton Cottage Care Home. All the staff, from carers, receptionists and cleaners were always very friendly and helpful when I would visit. I always got offered refreshments when I arrived. They looked after my mum very well and attended to her needs. I felt they had taken time to get to know her as a person and showed her warmth and compassion. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hopton to anyone looking for care for the elderly.
My mother chose Hopton after a recommendation - hands down it was the nicest care home that she viewed; friendly, clean, and overall good facilities being purpose-built. Mum went for a trial period and stayed. The Hopton team bent over backwards to make her welcome and accommodate any requests/ preferences wherever they could - from management to carers to support services. The carers were great, the food uncommonly good (and my mother was quite particular!), and the laundry excellent. Regular hairdresser/ beautician, chiropodist, physio services etc. were on hand, as well as a variety of activities and themed events. Not only did the care team look after Mum as her needs increased, but they made her family welcome at any time. She was only there 15 months before she died but she thought of Hopton as 'home'. The care and support the team gave Mum and her family in her final days could not be faulted. They were excellent. I would have no hesitation recommending Hopton - and do!
My aunt has been at Hopton Care Cottage for almost a year. First impressions were that it was a light, well-decorated and attractive place. It has not disappointed. The rooms are warm, cosy and cleaned regularly. The residents all have their own outside space plus lovely communal areas where they can sit and enjoy each other's company. It took my aunt a little time to settle after moving from her own home. It has been the best thing that she could have done. The care is fantastic. The carers are always considerate and helpful. I visit regularly with no restrictions. I am always offered a cup of tea and given an update on my aunt's progress. She enjoys regular meals, medication is given, regular showers and the laundry is excellent. She can have her hair done every week and the chiropodist visits regularly. I am very grateful for the care that my aunt receives and she appreciates the care that she gets.
Beautiful home, well kept to a high standard, the quality of food is amazing, great entertainment. A beautiful place to enjoy twilight years.. last but not least the staff who are warm and friendly and look after our loved ones as if they were their own. My mum loved every single person there.
My mum had planned to go into Hopton and the day before she became very poorly and was diagnosed end of life. Hopton had no hesitation in offering care for which we were extremely grateful because it enabled us to just concentrate on giving my love rather than worrying about careers. She died peacefully with all her family present. The care and compassion shown by staff in all the different occupations was superb. Of course, special mention must be made to the caring staff. Their desire to care and to respond to my mum's needs was outstanding. They were responsive at all times. Further to this, they looked after us too. The home had an excellent relationship with medical staff to provide medical care when needed. The physical environment at Hopton was of a high standard and the food was excellent. The senior staff have developed a care ethos which translates throughout. We had a number of medical visitors, many of which indicated how lucky my mum was to be here.
From assessment through to Mum's final days she was treated with kindness and compassion. Staff relationships with Mum were positive and caring. She really appreciated the warmth of the care workers and felt safe with them. Her care was person-centred and all staff knew her well. Mum was content during her time in the home and the support that she and all her family received in her final days was so comforting, and humbling to experience. An excellent care experience. A great team with a manager with the right values for older people and those living with dementia. The home was always clean and tidy and it was clear that all the team played their part in keeping it so. It has a homely and relaxed atmosphere. Laundry and personal items were always respected and cared for. The food was really good with plenty of choice and favourites served.
Where do I start? A wonderful, five-star care home designed by the family that own and run Hopton Cottage Care Home, incorporating ideas gained from years of working in the care sector. Each ground floor room has its own enclosed patio which proved so valuable during Covid. No sitting around the edges of the lounges like so many other care homes, instead the chairs are grouped in small clusters, much more friendly. Top-class food with the menus rotating on a four-week rota by excellent chefs. What gives Hopton its well-deserved stars are all the wonderful staff, whichever department they work in, who deliver such loving care. My mother loves them to bits. My mother chose to move in here seven years ago when her dementia had started to take a hold. She is almost 102 now, so they are obviously doing everything right. I can’t praise them enough and it is such a relief for me to know she is well looked after, especially as I don’t live on the doorstep.
Mum has been at Hopton since June 2019. She settled in very quickly, within a couple of weeks, and has been more content and happy here than she had been for many years previously. The staff are warm and friendly, appreciate her as an individual, and are very good at boosting her mood, as well as meeting her physical needs. Last July, the staff arranged evening boat trips for the residents on the canal. Mum's memory is not great, but she spoke about this trip for weeks afterwards, as a lovely time and a bit of an adventure! Thank you, Hopton!
My aunt has been a resident at Hopton for the past 5 years. During that time the staff have treated my aunt with dignity and compassion. They look after her well-being seeing to her every need and have a variety of activities for her. The food is excellent and the resident's families and friends are invited regularly to functions so that the residents feel it is their home.
We have been delighted with Dad's care at Hopton. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. He's been there since October 2022 as a permanent resident and he clearly enjoys being there. The friendly banter with many staff keeps him laughing and engaged. Thank you to everyone; we would recommend you to anyone and often do. You were also amazing during our mum's end-of-life care and made us feel loved and special. Bless you all.
I live some distance away from my aunt and it was very important to me to find a care home in her local area, that I trusted and was confident would provide her with the care and support she needed in her final years. I particularly appreciated that they focused on improving and maintaining her independence and promoting her mental and physical well-being. They kept her active and stimulated, played to her strengths and used common sense in making everyday decisions with her. She really thrived in her first year there. As my aunt's dementia progressed, the staff continued to be kind and to adapt their approach to meet her changing needs. When she became ill, and in her last weeks, they showed their sensitivity and experience in ensuring that she was comfortable and peaceful. Throughout her time at Hopton, the staff kept in touch with me regularly, so I felt very involved despite only being able to visit every couple of months. I highly recommend Hopton Cottage Care Home.
Mum lived at Hopton Cottages for almost three years and we are grateful for the care and kindness during her stay. Making the decision is extremely difficult and we looked at several other homes before choosing Hopton. From reading the website to meeting the owner and staff it was clear that they knew what prospective residents and relatives were going through. The visit, discussion at Mum’s home and transition were all handled well. The environment was homely and clean with staff who were very good at their job. We were well informed about activities going on at Hopton, choices at meal times and it was so nice to see pictures of Mum on the home website which added reassurance that she looked happy and part of the community. When finally the condition overcame her we were touched that the manager made time to join us at Mum’s funeral. So, a big thank you to all at Hopton Cottages for being both lovely and professional for the time Mum lived there. You do a hard job very well.
The professional care given by all at Hopton Cottage, to Mum, was delivered, with patience, kindness, respect and dignity at all times, her problems were dealt with sympathetically, never made to feel a burden. Fab Friday, entertainment with a glass of wine and nibbles is wonderful. Outings be it a coffee shop, a stroll or a trip on the canal boat were always enjoyed. Meals were nourishingly homemade, tailored to her tolerances and palette. Clothes were quickly returned, and Mum felt smart it was important to her. A salon on-site means regular visits, which she enjoyed. The cleaning and maintenance staff were always helpful, they found time to chat with Mum while keeping Hopton spotless. Increasing dementia meant challenges, but the staff were patient, reducing anxiety. In Mum's last days, we were there more often and observed staff, their manner was always kind, and reassuring, never rushing or disregarding resident's needs. The staff were approachable, and always aware of the needs of families, Happy Hopton is very appropriate.
