Scholars Mews is an exemplary care home. The staff are amazing- care focused but ensuring residents enjoy a stimulating range of activities geared to ability. My mother has been so happy there and adores the carers. She elected to move into care and has never regret her choice of Scholars Mews.
Overall the standard of care at Scholars Mews is excellent. The carers show genuine care, respect and affection for the residents which is very reassuring and heartwarming. The entertainment and activities schedule is very impressive and my mother in law is always engaged in something which interests her. She is particularly fond of music and there is always someone there to entertain her. I am happy that she is being looked after so well.
As a family we can not fault the care which Mum receives from the staff at Scholars Mews. If you are looking for a care home for your loved one this is the one to choose. It can be very stressful to hand over care of your loved one to a some one else. All the staff make you feel very welcome and you can visit whenever you want to. The staff are very caring to Mum and all of us, her family. They have time to talk to you if you have any concerns. Every aspect of care is dealt with in a very caring manner. The rooms are very home-from-home. Nothing is too much trouble. There are plenty of activities to take part in, if able. The meals a lovely and varied. Complimentary coffee & cake available for visitors are a lovely gesture which makes it feel like home. I would recommend Scholars Mews to anyone.
I'm very pleased with the management, staff and facilities. I appreciate the efforts that go into arranging activities for the residents. I always feel welcome when visiting the home and it's great to be able to help myself to a drink.
This care home would be difficult to better. The staff are so welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. My mum is very happy with the care she receives and praises the staff and loves the food. I never announce my visits, I just pop in when I can, and I'm always made welcome, in fact I feel more like one of a big happy family. I would recommend Scholars Mews to anyone and would be glad to move in myself.
Before I asked Avery to care for my father I surveyed and assessed many other facilities., before making a final decision. I have a very high regard for this facility where my Father is being cared for. The staff are all amazing in every way expected. The atmosphere is both friendly and efficient on all matters . I can compliment the care home enough or the sraff whiuch is acredit to the the Management approach for five star treatment. Kind regards
The Client Relations Manager has been very supportive of the process from initial contact to dealing with queries as we have gone on this journey. It is confusing who does what in the home and linking with Adult Social Care has and is challenging. The food is adequate and comparable to say school dinners and I guess the fees are paying for care not food. Good range of activities Dad needs encouragement to join in I think he gets it. Time is at a premium but talking to him is important I come to home late in afternoon and often find him alone in his room. I have to score down on value for money due to the high cost of residential care, whilst I understand context in which it is delivered. Final comment the staff are professional caring and open and willing to talk, alternative and I feel Dad is safe.
My dad feels like he has gone home. I've not seen him this happy for over a decade. The staff smile and engage with all of the residents. When I leave, I'm no longer worried about him or anxious as I know he's in good hands and I know he's enjoying himself. Everyone seems to care for each other and it's a delight to go and visit him as everyone makes me feel so welcome and I go into his room and he is smiling And the cakes are amazing!!! Thank you
I'm so pleased that we moved mum to Scholars Mews, the teams care has been exemplary and I have had the eight of the world lifted from my shoulders. The activity team is wonderful; shes been involved in activities ranging from meeting cute puppies to church visits and a visit from the Easter bunny. A recent visit to hospital was handled seamlessly and I have no worries that her various medical needs are monitored and adjusted appropriately.
We viewed two other homes in the area and this was by far our favourite. It has the feeling of a small boutique hotel but above all the staff are so welcoming, caring and friendly. The residents are encouraged to treat the home as their home and what I love is that you can pop in at any time. My mum is there having some respite care after a couple of falls, she won't be able to live independently at home so we are looking at making the transition from temp to perm as what we have experienced so far is brilliant. I love how civilised it is, the wine with the meals makes me want to join in.
When we came to see Dad we are always greeted so warmly - and impressed by the professionalism of the team at Scholars. Dad enjoys the wide range of activities and recently has appreciated being offered a haggis on Burns Night in recognition of his Scottish heritage and the regular visits from the local school pupils.
We have been impressed by Scholars Mews. My mum-in-law has been treated with respect and dignity. In fact, when we have visited, we have witnessed the staff interaction with other service users. Dignity is always maintained too. Staff are so patient. They deserve medals. Everyone is treated with dignity. Dealing with dementia patients is incredibly difficult and we really appreciate all the help and support they give. Honestly, it may be early days in her journey, but we have absolutely no complaints. Also, Scholars Mews is modern but homely and really clean. I'd like to think that if I need such a facility, this would be it. Thank you for all you do.
My mum moved here in November 2024. She settled overnight as the staff made an amazing effort to get to know here and our family. Everyone is so kind and caring, very professional but also lots of fun. Mum is now interacting with activities, joins other residents for lunch (food is amazing). The staff always have time to chat to my mum and our family. Their care is exceptional and my mum is thriving and very happy.

I believe my husband is very well looked after and all of the staff are extremely kind and caring. I call in to see him most days and he generally appears to be contented, happy and feeling positive. The house is always welcoming and friends are always happy to visit him with any dogs that they may have. I have a dog and everyone loves to see him, residents and staff.
