My 86 year old mother has end stage Parkinson's, is very thin and frail, and needs help with almost everything she does. The staff at Anning House have taken great care to get to know my mother, what she does and doesn't like, how she responds best and they have treated her gently and with the
utmost respect since she arrived with them 6 weeks ago.
She is happy in her surroundings, the home is elegant and comfortable, she has a large room which is always immaculate thanks to the friendly cleaner, George. The staff are very attentive, checking in on her, and, if she feels up to it, they take her to the lounge, where she can socialise, or enjoy the entertainment that is laid on every afternoon.
I am so relieved that Anning House has turned out to be even better than I had hoped, their medical care is first rate and my mother settled in well.

From the initial care needs assessment provided, which was very comprehensive and thoughtful, there has never been any hesitation to supply us with additional information or offer any support when needed.
Sadly my father has now passed away but there is comfort in the knowledge that his last few
months were spent in comfort, with his wife and excellent nursing care delivered with compassion and dignity.
My mothers care remains exceptional and over a difficult few months they have thoughtfully helped her to adjust not only to moving into her new home but also losing her husband. They have brought a little sunshine into her life through smiles, company and various regular activities provided on a daily basis. The staff are always positive, polite, professional and above all caring and considerate. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they always offer a warm welcome.
I would highly recommend Anning House without hesitation. It has a homely atmosphere with an amazing care family.

A kind caring and well run home that were brilliant in my dad's final days. They were extremely helpful with visiting hours and the like meaning we were all present when he passed peacefully. They continue to provide excellent care for my mum

While mum was slightly unsettled at the prospect of moving into Anning House for respite the staff have gone over and above to make her feel welcome, even noticing an upcoming birthday an making suggestions to family of how they could host a party or afternoon tea and ideas of decorating. I have
been kept up to date with regular phone calls and opinions sought on both care plan but general wellbeing and likes / dislikes etc. The result of the care and attention from staff is mum has now settled, regularly taking part in the broad and varied daily activity schedules planned meticulously by the activity coordinators. Mum has even had some pampering with her hair and nails done. All the staff from the reception, to the nursing team are amazing, professional, knowledgeable and welcoming and I could not wish for anything more, the combined care really gives me peace of mind and mum is thriving with the personal care and attention she receives. My thanks to everyone at Anning House

Every aspect of Mum's care at Anning House was first class. When she was able to join in with superbly run activities run by an enthusiastic team. Mum's actual care was given always in a gentle and dignified way with a caring, empathetic team - I would not hesitate to recommend. She could not have
been in a better place. All appreciation and thanks go to a wonderful team.

My um passed away in Anning House after living there (with dementia) for 3 1/2 years. The care team always cared with dignity, respect, love and humour.
They respected my privacy in the final days/hours and shared our sorrow. I will always appreciate the care given.

My Dad spent the last 3 months of his days in Anning House. At the time of entering, he had been adamant that he never wanted to be admitted to a Care Home, but his failing health meant that we as a family had no real alternative. However, the care, attention and devotion shown by all the nurses,
carers, and staff gave him a wonderful final part of his life. On behalf of the family I cannot give enough praise for all connected.
The minute we walked through the door, we all felt the warmth and comfort, and we had no doubts that Dad would be happy there. We were without question proved right.

House they really do care.

I never thought I would write a review like this, and it has taken me a few months to find the words.
Anning House cared for my Dad, and it will always hold a very special place in my heart. My Dad loved the gardens, which brought him so much joy. The care and attention the gardener gives to both
the garden and the residents was truly special. He always took time to explain the flowers and plants, and this meant so much to my Dad and to us as a family.
No care home is perfect, and no one wants to move a loved one into care. Could I find small things that could be improved? Yes. But could I ask for a more caring and compassionate team? Absolutely not. The staff were amazing.
My Dad celebrated his 83rd birthday at Anning House, and the team supported us to plan a brilliant celebration. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our Dad. Anning House will always hold a special place in my heart.

my mothers dementia and general health became more demanding and my husband was terminally ill. I couldn't manage it all so my sister and I made the decision for our mother to have respite care at Anning house Weymouth.
Luckily there was a free room. It was an easy process to organize the stay and
Sarah, one of the managers supported us through this change.
Anning house is a lovely purpose built building for elderly care, welcoming, full of natural light and big window views. The staff are knowledgeable and confident in their care of residents and I was impressed that when my mothers complicated medicine regime was reviewed by staff they immediately contacted the GP for support and review of her care plan. We felt that she was in good care.
Her ensuite room was comfortable, warm and inviting.
she feels cared for, safe and has company and activities there .
All of the family like to visit and take her for coffee in the cafeteria.
She is now a permanent resident.

I have found the home welcoming and professional providing information needed and responses to questions in a timely way.
It would be useful to know more about what activities are offered/engaged with - perhaps through an app.

This means I feel confident in leaving him in their care so I can take a well-needed rest.
He's always happy to go there for his little holiday as well.

Having been obliged to leave Anning House after over 4 years, because my capital was depleted, I can now appreciate better the care I received there. The contrast with my current setting is marked. However, so many improvements could have been made, with very little expenditure or effort. Despite
continual requests, the food lacked a variety of green vegetables frequently cold and not well presented. With a few exceptions, carers were caring, competent and conversational! Communication with managers was very sparing, however, my main cause for dissatisfaction was the lack of a written, up-to-date, comprehensible service/care plan that would have provided me and my family with the assurance that we were getting what we were paying for and that my needs were understood by all those involved. Staff turnover meant having to frequently verbalise what I required.
Do not be seduced by the provision of "Other Health Services" - just a list of what is available to all members of the NHS, not "in-house".

Four weeks of respite care has led to the resident making a decision not to return home. This was down to the consistent care as well as lots of regular visits by close family members and friends.
Issues that had to be addressed, arose from two live-in carers being excellent in terms of care and
support, but due to the property not providing an easy exit for a wheelchair, they could not expand the horizon beyond downstairs of the house.
Gradually the more social environment began to outweigh the two-to-one care at home.
Hoping this will continue. 4 stars due to one-morning poor experience with agency staff, not a normal occurrence.

I can only speak very highly of both the experience of my father who resides at Anning House and that of a relative who is regularly visiting. From our first initial visit to the present day, all members of staff have been welcoming, professional and very friendly. I would fully recommend visiting
Anning House and experiencing this warm environment for yourself.

I made enquiries to Anning House in September 2024 with regard to moving my mother from another care home in Weymouth to Anning House to become a resident going forward once she had served her notice period at her present address. My enquiry was dealt with in an extremely professional manner, all my
questions were answered fully and it was very clear to me that moving my mother to Anning House was a positive move for her. The staff I met were polite, professional, informative and obviously willing to accommodate my mother to the best of their ability. I was very impressed with the general presentation of the establishment when my mother, my wife and I were given a guided tour by one of the team and can honestly say I saw nothing that I didn't like, everything served to reinforce the decision already made to move my mother in. I was given access to her allocated room immediately and was able to smooth the transition for my mother before she ultimately moved in two weeks later.

An outstanding standard of care - my mum did improve healthwise, made friends and settled in very well. The staff and carers seemed very professional and were friendly. I think the standard was excellent, including the food and activities on offer. My mum had a short stay and she enjoyed it and we
felt happy that she was well cared for.
