View Full Details of Colliers CroftConsidering this care home charges £4,600 a month the cleanliness and condition of my Fathers room and bed sheets were a disgrace. No bin in the room, fridge never turned on...ever... his clothes went missing, often I found him in other people's clothes and underwear and I have lost count the amount of times he had no socks on! We were told by the Manager that if his dementia got worse he would always have a home there and they would never move him, absolute lies. Our Father fell in their care, thus having to have a partial hip replacement and ended up in Hospital. We were then informed by email by the manager to collect his things and find him another home as they don't have the facilities to look after him since his fall. As a family we have been let down by Colliers Croft, not by the staff but by the management system. Our Father isn't aware he will be moving to a new home, we are praying that this will not be too upsetting for him.
On entering the premises we were greeted by a warm and friendly lady. We came to visit my auntie with my terminally ill mother. She went above and beyond to help me and my sister navigate, my now wheelchair bound mother. She directed us to my auntie with compassion and empathy This may be the last time that the sisters will be together. At the end of the visit, this lovely lady appeared again chatting to my auntie and mother like she knew them. Can't thank her enough for this heart warming visit. Shes a credit to you. Many thanks
Colliers Croft at Haydock is a fantastic care home for many, many reasons. All of the staff must be praised: the carers; the managers; the cleaners and laundry staff; the reception; the kitchen staff; and maintenance man. All of the carers are very friendly and are there for my dad in so many ways. They have gone out of their way to settle him in and understand his needs. His meals are specially prepared for his swallowing needs and the food looks delicious. Colliers is always clean, and being kept clean constantly I might add. There are many activities for the residents. The recent gala day was a great success for residents and their families thanks to the hard work of the staff. There is a lovely family feel at Colliers, so that from the minute you enter, to leaving, you feel very welcome - like it's your own home. My dad is very happy there as he knows he has 24 care and support. Colliers Croft gives high quality care to its residents in luxury surroundings. Thank you all so much!!
A Heartbreaking Experience at Colliers Croft Care Home Making the decision to place our dad in a care home was incredibly difficult, but we were reassured by the manager and staff that it would be the right choice for his dignity and well-being. Unfortunately, the last six months of his care at Colliers Croft turned into a nightmare for both him and our family due to severe neglect. He lost over 2 stone in weight due to being confined to bed for a six weeks period due to the unavailability of lifting aids. This lack of equipment delayed necessary movement and care when this should have been provided in a timely manner. As a result, we had no choice but to transfer him to a nursing home because of his rapid deterioration. We have since submitted formal complaints to the CQC St Helens, safeguarding authorities, and quality regulators regarding the unacceptable conditions and mismanagement we witnessed. Given our experience, we cannot recommend this care home to anyone's loved ones.
This care home has a special work team, over the three years my father has been here, there has been staff changes, I feel they now have it right, the event team are brilliant and encourage my dad to participate in games quizzes etc. The care staff are friendly and very caring and go above and beyond to ensure that the residents are looked after. My dad always says to me 'it's lovely here, they look after me', that says it all for me and my family, it was a hard decision to put Dad into care but so right for my dad, he has thrived with the company and care.
Mum has been a resident here for 16 months. Her room is warm, clean, comfortable and safe. The home itself is bright and airy with pleasant dining and lounge facilities as well as quiet rooms. The staff are responsive to all her needs and assist with all aspects of daily living. I have found all staff members to be friendly, responsive and supportive - which gives me great comfort. There is easy and open communication with everyone from the manager to reception. The senior carers provide regular updates and will rapidly respond to any concerns or care needs. Weekly ward rounds are provided by the local GP practice which offers a high standard of medical care, fully supported and implemented by the care home staff. Weekly hairdressing and monthly podiatry are also available. Although Mum doesn't choose to join in with activities, there are several options available. Mum's only complaint is the quality of food; this has been addressed by direct communication with the kitchen staff.
Happy with care and support mum is having. On more lucid moments and today mum has said she likes it here. Dad always comments about how nice the staff are. For me, staff always nice and helpful and always answer any queries and happy to help.
The care home itself was clean, bright, and airy, it was the personal hygiene that did it for me. When we went to look around we were told they had the odd days out and activities, but I saw none of this. My husband was looking very neglected and smelly. I was told he would not go in the shower, I personally showered him myself on 2 occasions. One of the staff told me my husband packed his suitcase after the evening meal every night and walked around with it. I immediately brought it home with me one evening he was sitting in the corridor with his meal in front of him. He had been sitting there for an hour. I received a phone call at 7 AM to inform me there had been an incident at 1:30 that morning, but he was fine, the nurses had been out and dressed his wound, and he had cut his arm. She described in detail how it happened and I would like to know how she knew this as my husband was in his bedroom and she was down the corridor in her office. They put my husband on their doctor's list, I only found out after about 2 weeks as I rang our doctor to book for a blood test for him as he has had cancer and is still being monitored but was unable to do this as he had been removed from our doctor's list. I contacted the cancer team and they sorted it for him and told your people they had no right to do this. I informed his social worker who in turn informed the council who will be looking into my complaint. The care home knew I was very upset and angry the way my husband was looked after. It goes without saying I would never recommend Colliers Croft.
Having made the difficult decision for my Dad to go into a care home, I knew entering the home and meeting the manager that I knew I couldn't have chosen a better home. My Dad has settled in quickly and feels safe. Management and staff are wonderful and go the extra mile for their residents. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is delicious and varied. The home is modern, bright, and very welcoming. He loves to help in the gardens and takes pride in his home. The owners and staff have made it into an outstanding home. One of a kind which is hard to find.
Our Grandad was cared for at Collier's for almost 12 months until he passed away in May at the age of 92. Colliers was always our first choice after looking at many homes in the area. He went on the waiting list and when we got the call for a space being available we jumped at the chance. He had never settled elsewhere but did immediately so here. It was home! When Grandad was moving in, we were told they weren't just there to care for him, but for us as a family. This is so true. All the staff on Floor 1 supported us just as much as Grandad. Kept us informed along the way and hugged us when things got tough. The team and residents are like a family and this shows in the level of care they provide. Not just the carers, but this extends to the entertainment team, the cleaners, cooks, maintenance - everyone. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this last year the best it could be for Grandad.
A huge thank you to all staff involved in Mum’s care. They really do go above and beyond. Mum regards Colliers Croft as her home and is obviously comfortable, happy and very well cared for. As a family, we are kept fully up to date and always feel included in all aspects of Mum’s care and well-being. Yesterday the home arranged a valentines soirée for residents and their friends/families. The home was beautifully decorated and residents had been fully involved in Valentine’s Day-related activities prior to the event. A singer/ukelele player provided the entertainment and was very well received with everyone singing, clapping and thoroughly enjoying themselves. It was a joy to see and was wonderful to have the opportunity to share precious moments like these with Mum. Thank you, Colliers Croft, for all you do; it is very much appreciated.
I would like to take the opportunity to express my admiration for the staff at Colliers Croft. Especially, at this point in time, for the staff on Maple Floor who face very difficult and unpredictable situations every day. I visit at different times/days and have been amazed at the patience, love, and respect shown to the residents who present the most difficulties of this terrible disease dementia. My thanks to all staff at Colliers in whatever role you are employed.
My mum has been a resident at Colliers Croft Care Home for a year due to needing residential dementia care. We have been very happy and satisfied with the care she receives and the dignified manner in which she is treated. There's always lots of laughter when we visit, Mum appears genuinely happy, well-dressed and cared for. They are quick to respond to any medical needs and keep on top of any issues. The food is varied and delicious. So pleased and relieved we chose Colliers Croft for Mum's care.
The care my mother has received has been excellent. All the staff, from the manager, deputies, seniors, carers, cleaners and catering staff, are so caring and understanding of my mother's needs. She is treated with dignity and respect at all times. I would definitely recommend Colliers Croft Care Home to other members of the public who are looking for a home for their loved ones. A big thank you to all the wonderful staff.
As a daughter, I made one of the hardest decisions of my life to let Mum go into respite care. From our initial assessment, I felt assured that everything was going to be ok. Staff took a genuine interest in my mum, her life before old age gave her limitations and her current interests. She absolutely loved Colliers Croft Care Home and made friends with both staff and residents. So much so that she didn't want to come home and is looking forward to her next stay. I think that speaks volumes in itself. Her room was lovely. Everywhere was clean and tidy and so welcoming. I can't praise Colliers Croft highly enough. Thank you all for your wonderful care and compassion. Not just for Mum but to me too.
My dad has been in this care home for nearly 12 months, after being admitted originally as respite and then made a permanent resident. In this time he has shown some very challenging behaviour which has been difficult to deal with as his daughter. The staff have been amazing with him, they have adapted to him and know how to deal with him. The deputy managers are always on hand to speak to and have been very reassuring. My dad is food obsessed and the home have happily organised that he has his favourite meal every day! Thank you so much for the care you give him, and us as a family!
Mum has been living at Colliers Croft Care Home for just over twelve months now after moving there during Covid for respite. Mum has settled so well, she will now be there as her permanent home. Mum loves the food and all the staff and thoroughly enjoys the entertainment and bingo etc. The hairdresser does their hair once a week and she really enjoys the pampering. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff and they all treat Mum with utmost care and respect.
My Mum spent the last 2 years of her life at Colliers Croft, having stayed there a short time for respite on a previous occasion. I can only say that the care given to my Mum, from moving in until the day she passed away, was exceptional. She initially enjoyed taking part in the activities and socialising at meal times but sadly such is the nature of frailty and dementia her needs and the things she enjoyed changed over time. The staff always ensured that the care provided reflected this fact. Continual assessment of care needs means that any developing issues are quickly remedied. The management team are always on hand to listen and support, and any concerns are immediately addressed. They also work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team to provide seamless and effective care. The senior care team and all the care staff are angels in my opinion and came to be regarded almost as family. In addition I cannot praise highly enough the end of life care provided to my Mum. Outstanding!
Exceptional care home on every level. Staff are really friendly and approachable whilst being extremely professional. Spotless clean home. Residents have various activities on offer to them throughout the week. The staff takes care of my Mother in Law brilliantly and they allow us to enjoy ourselves as well, for which we are very grateful. Whilst it is not the cheapest of homes it is certainly one of the best.
Mum has been a resident since June 1919. The first eight weeks were very difficult getting Mum to settle in her new environment. The staff were amazing and very patient and caring with Mum when she was quite agitated and aggressive. Staff worked closely with myself and other family members to encourage Mum to settle, which thankfully paid off as Mum is very happy and content now which is such a relief to us. I cannot speak highly enough about the care home and the staff and would not hesitate to recommend to others.
