View Full Details of Townsend ManorTownsend Manor is a recently built care home with modern facilities and a range of activities designed to stimulate the residents. My mother is cared for on the upper floor along with residents of similar age and condition. She is happy with the meals and facilities and loves being able to furnish her room with her own things. Opportunities to exercise by walking, especially outdoors, are limited on account of the small garden. The building has no integrated AC, and rooms upstairs, especially on the sunny side of the building become unpleasantly hot on sunny days, requiring curtains to be closed. Attempts to mitigate this with fans were only partly successful. Professional staff are all very pleasant and seem highly competent. Carers are attentive enough during the day, but i.m.o. spend too much time on their phone and are insufficiently attentive to residents needs during the evening shifts when supervision is lacking, resulting in some safety issues and potential loss of dignity.
My father's wedding ring disappeared and no-one seemed to care. They made all the right noises at the time but I had to push continually for any information as to where they had looked and what they were doing. Now they have washed their hands of the whole thing. I am not confident that, if it is discovered, it will be returned. They said this is the first time it's ever happened but, I hear from another of the relatives that it isn't. Appalling!!
My father in law has settled in well and is enjoying himself taking part in the activities. The staff are great with him and are easy to talk to, they are all very friendly.
It is now 6 months on from When we made the difficult decision to entrust the care of our mum to all at Townsend Manor. We have seen Mum thrive in the environment, she has settled in and refers to Townsend as 'home' which is reassuring. She interacts with other residents and has enjoyed day trips out which seems to have boosted her general well being. All staff are friendly and caring, although at times they appear to be overworked and under pressure which is a shame as they do a wonderful job in difficult circumstances. Mum enjoys the food and we have seen her weight increase from when she first became a resident. The home is clean and tidy and well cared for. There will always be room for improvement and sometimes it's about thinking outside the box, but I guess that takes extra resource! Mum is happy and has a lovely rapport with the staff, which is reassuring and as a family we can sleep easy at night knowing she's well cared for 24/7
Overall very happy with my Mum's care. However, there are not enough staff at weekends. Often one person is trying to serve lunches along with dealing with any problems from bed bound residents. A care home as expensive as Townsend's should have enough staff to be able to take their time with residents. The tables in the dining area are not suitable for purpose. They are circular and the table legs are not sufficiently wide apart to allow a person in a wheelchair to sit properly at the table. Making sure the bed bound residents have their hands washed before meals and their teeth cleaned at least once a day would be helpful. I think this doesn't happen as there aren't enough staff to make sure this happens. On the positive side Townsend Manor is clean, smells fresh and is a very pleasant place to visit. Food is good, carers are kind and very hardworking. The manager is efficient, understanding and very kind.
Mainly good at location, management team are currently very hands on and supportive. HO very slow to respond if at all to any communication. Home has lovely family feel. Some areas need to be worked on. All care homes are expensive so questionable for value for money but safety, security and wellbeing of family members is the most important.
Mum is enjoying her time at Townsend manor. We do however constantly have to monitor her clothing & personal items. Many items of clothing have gone missing. All of her shoes have also gone & her mobility aid. We have raised these issues & still awaiting an outcome. When you call the home to speak to managers the messages dont always get through. Mums finances have still not been addressed after being there for nearly 1 year. The staff are lovely. Very friendly & mum loves them all. There is always something to do & mum enjoys the activities most of the time.
Going into the unknown and leaving my mum in someone else's care is extremely heartbreaking & difficult. The staff were great on mums first day and even put me at ease. 99% of staff are attentive and caring. I have been informed each time mum has not felt well, and have confidence in their care. Sadly the home is understaffed which puts pressure on all aspects of the care home. The cost of care is considerably high, the salaries for those who look after our loved ones is considerably low, this is one of the most demanding jobs to do, all credit to those who genuinely want to do this work.
I cannot fault the service we receive at Townsend Manor. The care given to my husband by the care team is always respectful, encouraging & kind. At difficult times, they work closely with the mental health crisis team to observe & respond to my husband's behaviour, always ensuring to keep me involved & informed. I believe my husband is as happy as he can be with his condition, due to the care & support he receives at Townsend Manor. They are also extremely supportive to me too. Thank you TM.
Can highly recommend Townsend Manor. All staff are very caring and not only support residents but their family too. I know my mum is safe, well and happy. She has made new friends and reconnected with old ones too.
My husband is a resident with you and being cared for by the nursing staff. I have found all staff to be very friendly and helpful. The home is always clean and bright. Reception is always helpful. The food that my husband receives Always looks appetising
My dad is very happy, he is very well looked after, he is always saying the staff are lovely and he enjoys the food as it is all cooked from scratch, he gets involved with the activities and likes playing bingo on a Friday morning. Management are very easy to approach if you do have any concerns, staff are very friendly.
Very happy with the care given to our dear dad. Staff very kind, helpful and caring to our dad as though he is their family member. We know dad doesn't like leaving his chair, but please could you try and get him a bit more mobile if that's at all possible, I know how he is sometimes and won't budge, bless him! Thank you again for giving the care he needs.
My father has been resident at Townsend Manor since shortly after it opened and in that time as his dementia with Lewey Bodies advances so had the care from all involved. The best thing I can say is that my dad is content in the home, And cares deeply about staff as they do for him. The increased needs have been dealt with through technology advancements, learnings and care, and I feel that Dad remains on the best place for him at this advancing stage of his life. Finally, I witnessed the care and emotion along with professional approaches of many staff at the time of a recent end of life for one of Dad's neighbours and friends. It was dealt with dignity, integrity, compassion and care. At that stage of this journey for my father I know he will be loved and cared for, as will immediate family and friends. Please strive to do better as you always should but thank you for what you do, the empathy shared and the over riding compassion at abounds at Townsend Manor Care Home.
My father has been a resident since may 2023 We have found the home short staffed on a lot of a occasions especially Sundays The home has been through a lot of staff sometimes you feel they are only there for the money some of them not because they want to help with their heart My father has been in 3 homes now and they are pretty much the same Morar has fantastic facilities and was lovely and new when dad moved in We are finding now that dad is more bed bound with his condition which is where he needs most care that this is not happening it seems too much of a chore for the staff to help him some of the time He is not capable of reaching to get a drink or food off the table nearby so he starves and don't drink much sometimes as the staff don't have time to sit with him on occasions My family could complain a lot just lately but we don't as we don't want dad kicked out Dad has a sore on his bum which don't heel after months just got worse to grade 3 grade 2 is bad lays in wet pad
My husband has only been in the home since January 2025, but has been treated really well by everyone there. He seems to be very happy, which makes me feel happy too. The food is also very good. I can't fault the care home in any way.
My husband came home in a happy mood, other cares homes he came home with his head down and sad, overall one hundred percent happy. Has asked if he can come back, to me that says it all.
I have found Townsend Manor Care Home a very nice place indeed. The staff are kindly - friendly and caring- nothing being too much trouble. Their patience is remarkable. It is a modern building with lots of facilities- more than i expected. Sometimes when they are busy their are delays responding to the call button- but when the emergency button is used they are there straight away. i think it would given that nowhere is PERFECT Townsend Manor comes pretty close. The food at Townsend Manor is very good and i would compare it to restaurant quality.
I was never sure how my mum would adapt to living within a care home environment after living in a house that was isolated , but with us having the ability and support from the home management we personalised her room with pictures and some furniture from home and we created her a tub garden outside her door . Mum now has a real connection with the staff who look after her and her sense of humour can be quite infectious , she now very much feels at home at Townsend and has become very settled , she can never speak highly enough of the staff and the care and consideration they show to her , my sister and feel if we have an issue with anything we can talk to someone to resolve it
My Mother has lived in Townsend Manor since May 2024. She was admitted after several weeks in hospital after an infection and following falls. She had a few previous admissions to hospital and it became clear that, aged 99, she needed 24-hour care. She received a very warm welcome from all the staff - had a lovely ensuite bedroom with a door to the garden. Her care has been excellent, the activities provided have generally improved her quality of life and she and I know she is in the best possible place.
