View Full Details of Orchard ManorI would say this is an outstanding care home, the staff are lovely, patients are always occupied, whether it be lunch in the garden, visiting museums, garden centres, the beach, chocolate hour, aerobics, such a lovely environment to be in. Security is high, lots of staff around.
Before my mum was a resident at Orchard Manor, she was living at home on her own, the care she received at home was the bare minimum by adult social care, no stimulation she was lonely and depressed. We took the option for mum to become a full time resident at Orchard Manor after some much needed respite and cannot describe just how much her quality of life improved. She even embraced some of the activities, engaging with residents and visitors. The care, kindness and patience shown by the all the staff, from carers to all the other internal staff was second to none. It allowed us as a family to spend enjoyable time with mum and make some precious memories. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone, they truly are welcoming and attentive and we are forever grateful for the kindness showed to mum.
What a fantastic carehome. This is a very special place, Orchard Manor feels like a family. Mum is totally at home with all her friends and pets living together. She is always out on trips or doing activity's. This beautiful happy home has the most wonderful staff that make the residents their number one priority. Dementia is tough on the family, but I have found peace knowing my Mum is in safe hands, which has change my life and lifted all the weight from my shoulders. Forever grateful to the Orchard Manor magic. X
My mother-in-law has been a resident at Orchard Manor for over a year, after struggling to settle in two previous care homes in the local area. She settled very quickly and now enjoys many days out to garden centres, sightseeing and ten pin bowling to name but a few! The activities team and carers know all the residents really well and have built a really friendly team. Orchard Manor regularly put on both outdoor and indoor events, mainly based on foods from around the world, which both residents and family members can enjoy. We were worried when my mother-in-law first went to Orchard manor, as she had lost weight and would sometime turn away food, which has all changed over the past year. We are really pleased and I would highly recommend Orchard Manor.
My Mum moved into Orchard Manor after living at another home she was unhappy at. I can honestly say this home has changed her life. She is very happy there as the staff are caring, respect her and are pretty amazing. My Mum loves the food, the room and the staff. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for excellent care for their elderly loved ones. The residents go out on excellent day trips, have singers visiting and varied activities so there is something for everyone. Moving my elderly Mum was the best decision I have ever made, and to see my Mum so happy makes me so happy. Visiting her is lovely as she has things going on all the time, and has lots to talk about.
Mum has been living at Orchard Manor for 15 months, after it became unsafe to leave her in her own home. Mum is still active and able although often confused, the staff at Orchard Manor are patient, kind and tolerant of the challenges someone facing Dementia has to deal with. Having dealt with other homes for respite care with another parent, I also love that the staff have remained constant throughout her time at Orchard Manor, something that helps her feel settled and rooted. On a good 'mum' day she tells me she is very happy where she lives! Knowing that mum is safe, clean and fed is such a relief when we her family had reached the end of our ability to deal with her ourselves.
My Father has been a full time resident at Orchard Manor since February 2024, it didn't take him long to settle in and that was all to do with the wonderful staff, who are amazing, caring and absolutely treat all the residents with respect and wonderful care. His days are now filled with great activities, whether that is his daily exercises, trips out, visiting entertainers, enjoying the sunshine in the lovely outside spaces, and not to mention he has now got his appetite back and seems much more healthier after now enjoying 3 cooked meals a day. I have peace of mind that he is being well looked after, and is safe.
My mother reluctantly went into Orchard Manor for respite care however after the initial month our family decided that this was the best place for her as she was healthier happier and safer than she had been at home. This was in the most part due to the lovely caring staff not to mention the great facilities inside the home and lovely gardens outside. I know my Mum would have preferred to live her twilight years in her own home however as this proved to be impossible Orchard Manor is the next best thing.
My mother was in another care home prior to moving her to Orchard Manor. The difference in the two is night and day in terms of the surroundings, food, staff and most of all, the constant engagement and activities on offer to the residents. I cannot speak highly enough of Orchard Manor.
We have recently moved our mum here from a previous care home. The difference in Orchard Manor is, as they say, like night and day. Whilst mum's dementia is deteriorating, and I know she can be a little 'difficult, ' the staff are amazing and so caring. The home itself is very modern, bright and breezy, and her room is lovely, leading out onto a garden and patio area. It feels more like a hotel than a care home. What we like is that the residents are mixed and she is not restricted to a 'dementia' floor. The fees are very reasonable compared to where she was, and includes a weekly hairdressing appointment and any Chiropody she needs. Everyday they have a full programme of activities, and many weekly outings. My mum was hardly eating before, but as the food on offer is so good, she has found her appetite again. She especially likes the chocolate trolley, and the afternoon tea and cake! All in all we are very happy she is here and wish we had found Orchard Manor sooner.
Orchard Manor is I believe one of the best care homes I have visited . All the staff generally care about the residents staying there. Their commitment and dedication to making OM a 'home away from home ' is outstanding . Their daily activities keep the residents happy and occupied . Visits from outside providers/entertainers is clearly thought about and caters for everyone's taste. Residents are well looked after and there is a genuine happy atmosphere in the care home. Staff are led by an excellent Manager which makes for a very happy , professional team working there . You feel a general warmth and welcoming atmosphere arriving at OM, from the lady at reception through to the housekeeping team . Their daily activities staff are incredible , well done to you all. I could not wish for a better place for my father to be residing at. I am also always made to feel very welcome to have lunch with my father at any visit . A pleasure to visit when I can .
Orchard Manor made moving my lovely mother-in-law closer to us such a seamless process, they were all set and ready to attend to her needs and make her feel right at home. And that was the thing, it felt like a home from the moment we set foot inside, and we have seen a few. There is kindness and care to make every resident feel valued and cared for, unique and understood with swift action when needed. I have heard the manager say that the staff work in what is their home (the residents), and it feels like that, like one family, living in beautiful spacious surroundings in a quiet natural rural setting with trees and birds outside the window, as well as activities. As ever, it all comes down to individual staff members who really go the extra mile, whether that's care, getting the right bed set up, cleaning, laundry, meals, or going into the garden together. They take the time to get to know her and her sense of humour, and that means a lot. Thank you all.
Dad has been at Orchard Manor since the beginning of May 2025. Everyone who visits say it's like a 5 star hotel not just in the lovely surroundings but the level of care. So in dad's words when I asked if he was happy "they are fantastic here, they can't do enough for me" then I said how are you, his reply "I'm pretty great!" Dad has Alzheimer's and is happy, well cared for and feels safe. He joins in with the excellent timetable of events too. Would highly recommend!
Both my parents are at Orchard Manor and have been for nine months now. I've been very pleased with the care they both receive. They have different needs and are treated as individuals, but also as a a couple. They have rooms next to each other and generally have their meals together. The staff have gotten to know my parents individual ways and have always been friendly and supportive.
I chose to place my mother in Orchard Manor in April 2025 having visited several other care homes in my local area. After my first visit to the home I came away feeling that there was something different about the home. There is a genuine feeling of care, that it is the residents home and the staff fully respect this. This leads to a culture where the residents have a voice, and their voice is heard. There is a very strong sense of family, where everyone is equal and are all cared for equally. I too really like the fact that there is no 'dementia unit' or 'dementia floor' and that those with dementia are cared for 'alongside everybody else'. My experience of this is that there is no feeling of division or 'us and them' in the home. This has a very positive effect. I have never felt this is any other care home ~ and I have been to quite a few. There is a lot more I could say, but just to add, the staff are outstanding and to me, Orchard Manor is exceptional.
Mum went in for 2 weeks respite and thoroughly enjoyed her stay. She has severe mobility issues but apparently she gained confidence and was able to walk a few steps using the zimmer frame. She loved the entertainment and was looked after very well by the very caring team, she can't wait to go back for a second visit!
After an initial period of respite care last year, my Dad moved to Orchard Manor as a permanent resident earlier this year. It's a huge adjustment for everyone, but I am so pleased to have found Orchard Manor. The rooms are lovely, the communal areas are spacious and comfortable, there is a beautiful garden and an amazing range of activities laid on for the residents every day. I also like the fact that people with dementia are cared for alongside everybody else, and have the same access to the building and activities. But by far the most important thing is the carers and staff. The management team were so supportive and helpful during the transition out of hospital, they go to incredible efforts to put on the activities and wonderful special events (like performances, bake sales and themed BBQs), and the day-to-day level of care is wonderful. I have witnessed some beautiful examples of caring, that have been very touching - I feel very lucky and confident my Dad is in good hands.
My mum has advanced dementia and went into respite for the first time. My mum enjoyed it, she was well taken care of, the environment allowed her to wander safely and there was gardening and a lot of activities available. Staff were kind and helpful and her room was really clean and well designed.l was worried about her going into respite but it went well and we are really thankful to all the staff. I would definitely recommend this home.
Very good respite stay. Only complaint it was noisy at night, sounds of furniture being moved in floor above. Night carers talking loudly to each other and doors slamming.
In the four months that my mother has lived at Orchard Manor she has become far more sociable. Physically she has improved greatly with daily chair yoga and walking. There is plenty to keep her occupied. She engages well with staff and fellow residents. She enjoyed a lovely Christmas and has a new found confidence in many aspects.
