View Full Details of The Fleet Care HomeMy mum who had advanced dementia and cancer spent her last few months of life at the Fleet on Macbride floor, and died a few days ago while receiving exceptional nursing care. I have been blown away by the extraordinary care she has experienced over her 4 months there. The staff are so lovely and have created such a great family atmosphere. Each day is packed with joyful moments, activities and fun. My favourite anecdote is when mum and another resident got up at 2am and were definitely ready to start the day rather than go back to bed: the carer made them a midnight feast in the lounge area (to keep the noise away from the other residents) and got out the karaoke machine for them to enjoy, and that they did! What a great example of mum getting to live life and have fun on her terms. My only regret is not making the decision to move her to the fleet earlier. It really is such an extraordinary care home and I am so impressed and so grateful for mum's wonderful care right until the end.
Fleet Nursing home has been a shelter in the storm following my wifes brain injury. Both the the management team and staff have been very approachable and have done the utmost to provide a secure settled environment for my wife. Thank you
The Fleet is the furthest away from a care home that you could ever imagine. From the minute my mum walked into the Fleet, she was met by lovely receptionists, shown around and then taken up to see her room, where she was blown away by the new furniture, carpet and the view! She settled right away and was very happy there. My mum had advanced dementia and a terminal illness, but the care and support she received from the MacBride unit was exceptional. Nothing was ever too much trouble and the kindness from the the nurses and HCA's, not only towards mum, but to myself and my dad was incredible. The entire team are truly inspiring and exceptional people, including the chef who made mum her favourite birthday cake, which was brought into her room along with a traditional tea pot and cups and saucers for us to celebrate her last birthday. i will be forever grateful to everyone there for everything they did for my mum and how they treated her with absolute dignity right until the end.
Thank you so much for the wonderful care given to Dad during his stay with you all. We could not have asked for a better place to care for him from his first to his last days here.
Excellent all round care on the residential Drake ground floor. The management process for admission was made very easy with careful thought and consideration. Can't praise all the staff highly enough. So very grateful. Huge thank you from all our family.
The Fleet is an exceptional care home. My husband was there for 4 weeks recovering from a stroke. Everyone looked after him and we have no complaints, during the 4 weeks he rehabilitated well and it couldn't have been a nicer environment. All the staff are lovely and very attentive. The home is beautiful, modern, exceptionally clean and well operated. The garden is well cared for and is really nice to sit and relax there. We would highly recommend The Fleet, it was the best place for my husband, for his needs. Everyone working at The Fleet should be proud of themselves.
I recently spent 4 weeks at The Fleet Care Home recovering from a broken ankle. The warm welcoming atmosphere, my comfortable stylish room and the friendliness , care and encouragement from all the staff were much appreciated. I enjoyed the meals which were varied and plentiful. The Cove on the ground floor, with access to the lovely garden, was a favourite place to relax and enjoy a coffee and delicious slice of cake. It was also the venue for the wide range of entertainment and activities organised by their talented and creative team of staff and volunteers. I will certainly remember my time there with gratitude and affection.
What a joy to visit a care home and feel uplifted, rather than depressed! My sister had fractured her ankle and desperately needed somewhere for respite care whilst I was out of the country. After a fruitless search for anywhere with availability near her Plymouth home, our spirits lifted when we spotted The Fleet's website. First impressions are so important, and from the moment we stepped inside the 'hotel like' lobby, we both knew that this was somewhere special. The overall vibe was one of positivity, from the bright, airy interior to the lovely, hard working, caring staff and beautifully tended garden. Not a whiff of over cooked cabbage or disinfectant in this establishment, but instead, vases of beautiful, fresh flowers and the aroma of fresh coffee wafting from the delightful Cove, where we met up on my return. Now safely back in her own home, she cannot speak highly enough of the care she received, so a HUGE thank you to everyone at Fleet for their kindness.
My husband was in The Fleet for six weeks for respite care, he was very happy there. I visited him on most days and was always welcomed by reception and by staff on his floor. He was encouraged to partake in activities some of which I went with him. It was very nice to Have The Cove to spend time with him and friends who came to visit instead of having to stay in his room. We have been back to visit and join in with the choir and again the staff were so welcoming.
We loved the refreshing vibes when we first visited Fleet last year and now that we are relatives of a resident we know we were not wrong about our first impressions as the actuality exceeds anything and everything we hoped for in the best Care home we found. The Manager is caring and empathetic and this spreads to his amazing Team who are also individually lovely and full of life even though they must get weary, it doesn't show. We feel we have joined an extended family. The activities are wonderful too and whilst our relative didn't choose to be at Fleet, getting involved in these activities has opened up his previous small World and it's lovely to see photos of him joining in. To have such a beautiful garden too for him to sit out in having not been able to access his own previously is just wonderful. We cannot thank the Manager and his Team enough for welcoming us into the Fleet 'family' and so my recommendation is 10/10 and maximum stars.
My father is at The Fleet and has received wonderful care and an array of activities that I am sure has prolonged his life and memory in comparison to being alone in his flat. There always seems to be some activity or entertainment for the residents and they genuinely seem to be having fun. There could not be a better place for him under this circumstances.
A very happy place to be. The staff are amazing they encourage the residents to partake in all the various activities. There is so much to do, the activity staff and volunteers help everyone celebrate every day.
My mother came to the Fleet in summer 2024 . She had previously in sheltered accommodation but she has dementia and was no longer able/safe to care for herself. The Fleet is bright, clean and modern. The facilities are very good : communal areas on each floor; a cafe/general area for the regular events; a well stocked and neat courtyard garden. Above all the staff are without exception cheerful and genuinely caring and well qualified. I drop in at irregular times in the week and have never found anything to give me cause for concern. If anyone wants to know more I am happy to share my experiences directly.
My father came into the Fleet in December as he could no longer care for himself. Since then the care has been excellent, friendly staff, and nothing too much trouble. They have allowed him to make his room is own. The activities and entertainment are numerous and varied. The food is good. It's not cheap but no care home is! Highly recommend.
Whenever I have visited fleet you are always warmly welcomed and the staff are always so engaging with all of the their residents. The activities that the residents participate in are fantastic and everyone looks so happy to be taking part. The coffee mornings that the home put on to raise money for charities are always well organised and it's just a lovely place to visit.
The atmosphere is welcoming and more like a hotel than a care home. Rooms facilities first class. The staff are very efficient and supportive of family and the care my husband received was a great comfort to us. The medical support from the doctor ensured his last days were peaceful.
My wife had been in the home for nearly 2 years until she died in December. The whole of staff have always been very friendly and caring.
Care home staff were excellent, the Fleet is a clean well run home with caring, empathetic staff. They looked after my mother with dignity and respect. The 'on site' manager and admin staff were also very good. However, having paid with my money (not my mother's) for a month in advance by bank transfer on admittance day, and later being due a refund of over £4500 the financial team demanded a raft of, in my opinion, unnecessary paperwork and the details of a solicitor to sanction a refund. They said it would take 60 days and up to 6 months to approve. In 2024 I find this scandalous, it left me with a bad taste.
I have visited Gran here a few times now. I'd love to visit more often but live a distance away. Every time we've visited we've received a warm welcome. The staff are so friendly and Gran loves every one of them. She always gives them a kiss and hand hold. There are plenty of activities and the home is bright and airy.
A very welcoming care home. The staff are friendly and spend a lot of time with the residents and making them feel at home. I have never seen Gran so happy!
