View Full Details of West Hill Care HomeMy father suffered from Alzheimer's Dementia and, to put it mildy, wasn't the easiest of patients to care for. There had been numerous disturbing incidents at other care facilities prior to his arrival at West Hill, but it was quickly apparent that the level of care offered by West Hill was superior. Modern, bright & clean, with nice-sized, well appointed rooms, and staff who are well trained to deal with the specific conditions and challenges posed by my Dad, ensuring he was given the care, comfort and dignity that was so important to him, and us as a family, during his final days. On behalf of my Dad's family, our deepest respect & appreciation to all the staff at West Hill for the care they gave my Dad, and the professionalism & expertise with which they undertook it.
As someone who lives out of town and cannot visit in person as often as I would like, finding a care home where my mum not only receives excellent support but feels genuinely cared for has been a blessing. From the moment my mum settled into West Hill Care Home, we were immediately struck by the modern, bright, and meticulously maintained facilities that feel just like home but thoughtfully designed for safety and comfort . However what truly stands out is the staff. Every staff member, from the reception and nursing teams, to housekeeping and management has treated my mum with unmatched warmth, kindness, and respect. I very much appreciate each and every one of them. Thank you West Hill team members!
Mum has only been at the care home for a short while but is settling in already, the staff are lovely and the activity schedule is full and varied. We feel so content that mum is being well looked after and would recommend the home to anyone.
My father has been treated respectfully during his time at the care home in spite of his continued aggression towards the staff. They have always been pleasant and easy to talk to, answering any questions we ask. We feel the staff have shown kindness and patience when dealing with my father, an extremely difficult person. Their work is exemplary!
My Brother was a resident at West hill care home for around 2 years, until his passing in April 2025. I made many regular visits to the home during that time. I always found the staff to be very caring to the residents, friendly and helpful. I also noted that there was always some kind of activity going on at some point in the home, and the activity staff worked very hard at trying to engage the residents. The home was always very clean and the food always seemed good too. Because of my Brothers dementia it was always going to be distressing to visit him, but the home always done as much as they could to make my Brothers final years as good as they could be. Many thanks to everyone at West hill for that.
I cannot speak highly enough of the care my mum receives at Westhill Care Home. From the moment she moved in, the staff have shown her genuine kindness, patience, and respect. It is clear that every member of the team is dedicated not just to meeting the residents' needs, but to making them feel valued and at home. The staff go above and beyond, always taking the time to get to know my mum as an individual. They communicate openly with our family, keeping us updated and always making us feel welcome whenever we visit. Their warmth and professionalism have given us great peace of mind, knowing she is in such capable and caring hands. The facilities themselves are modern, bright, and well-maintained, creating a comfortable and uplifting environment for everyone. Our family am truly grateful for the outstanding care and support mum receives. I would, and do, recommend without hesitation.
We are so grateful to the team at West Hill Care for the care, compassion, and dignity they showed my father over the past three years. From the very beginning, the staff treated him not just as a resident, but as a valued individual with warmth, patience, and respect. The team consistently went above and beyond ensuring his needs were met, keeping the family informed, and always creating a sense of comfort and reassurance during what could have been a difficult time. During his final days, their care and support were exceptional, both for him and for us as a family. It gave us peace knowing he was in such kind and capable hands. Thank you for all that you did to make his time there peaceful, safe, and filled with dignity. You helped us through a very emotional journey, and we will always be grateful. Thank you
My 83 year old mother in law was recently transferred from hospital to the Care Home for palliative care. Upon arrival to the Care Home she was greeted by the staff and management team with a big smile and warm welcome. They helped her to settled her into a nice routine so she felt comfortable in fact nothing was too much ! The Care Home is new, has excellent facilities for its residents including a lovely outdoor garden, the fantastic entertainment team have daily activities such as sing alongs, chair fitness, art and crafts that everyone can enjoy. The staff are very kind, thoughtful and treat mum with utmost dignity and respect, family/friends who have visited her say how lovely the Care Home is and nice to see mum in her own private room. I would highly recommend West Hill Care Home for anyone considering putting their loved ones into a residential home.
It was tough to know that my Grandad would have to go into a care home. However, the level of care provided at West Hill Care Home really put my mind at ease. The staff are brilliant and provided great support for my Grandad. There are also many fun, easy activities for him to take part in if he wishes.
My wife's grandma has settled in really well because of the caring members of staff who are always willing to go the extra mile. Very good security throughout the building too which is reassuring. Thank you
My grandfather's health had been declining over the past few years, which was emotionally difficult to witness and physically demanding, as he required round-the-clock care. West Hill Care Home provided him with consistent, attentive support - always monitoring his health and anticipating his needs. The staff were incredibly kind and compassionate, treating my grandfather with dignity and respect, especially during his most vulnerable moments. Every time we ended a visit, we left with peace of mind, knowing he was in safe hands. We are deeply grateful to everyone at West Hill for making him feel comfortable and cared for, and for creating an environment that truly felt like a home away from home. THANK YOU!
My grandma is a new resident and the staff have been wonderful at helping her settle in. They're always smiling and willing to go the extra mile and have even made bespoke food to cater to her dietary preferences.
In my grandad's final days, the team at West Hill Care Home provided care that was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment he arrived, the staff demonstrated unwavering compassion, professionalism, and attentiveness. They took the time to understand his needs, ensuring he was comfortable and treated with the utmost dignity. The environment at West Hill is warm and welcoming, with modern facilities that made his stay pleasant. The communal areas, including the dining rooms and activity lounges, offered a sense of community and engagement, which he appreciated. The meals were nutritious and tailored to his preferences, and the staff always encouraged him to participate in activities, fostering a sense of normalcy and joy. What stood out most was the genuine kindness of the caregivers. They not only attended to his physical needs but also provided emotional support to our family during a challenging time. Their dedication and empathy made a significant difference
A professionally run Care Home which has the necessary equipment and qualified staff who are always smiling and happy to provide as much assistance as possible. West Hill Care home is purpose built (no adaptations) providing excellent care facilities e.g. rooms equipped with pressure beds, 24 hr alarm, en-suite built with elderly in mind, large TV etc. The on-boarding of residents with adaptable care plans is carefully vetted and managed, The care home manager visited my Mum on her first day to provide a personal welcome and assurance which was followed by more of the same from the rest of the team across all disciplines. There is a weekly GP face to face meeting and prescriptions are delivered promptly. This is a clean and happy environment where the staff do their best to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you
Sadly, my father was unable to return home after a long spell in hospital. West Hill Care Home has proved to be a home away from home for him. All of the team from reception staff, care staff, nursing staff, housekeeping staff and managment have shown themselves to be warm, welcoming and respectful towards my father and all his family. The facilities at West Hill Care Home are clean modern yet give a homely touch. There are always organised activities going on which my father can enjoy. We as a family have nothing but praise for everyone.
West Hill is a wonderful place. The staff are always friendly, caring and helpful. The staff are also informative. West Hill is clean and tidy and very well run and organised. The menu is varied and healthy. The staff are also good at communicating any issues and they are always dealt with efficiently and effectively.
From the initial home assessment and transition everything has been made as stress free and caring for Mum's comfort. Her room is large, light, clean and homely. The communal rooms are welcoming and comfortable. All the staff are focused on providing an excellent level of care. Mum enjoys her meals and the entertainment staff keep residents happy and as busy as they wish. The staff manage all Mum's medications and the GP visits inhouse which is a huge relief and help. As a family we couldn't be happier with West Hill Care Home and it gives us the peace of mind much needed for Mums wellbeing.
West Hill Care Home is clean, well-managed and able to talk sensibly about the care they can provide. The rooms do not feel cramped and there are many communal areas, all well-kept and appointed. This is the best in my five care home experience.
Mum was at West Hill for just over 3 months (July - October 2024). It was intended as a permanent move, but there were a number of things that happened with her care whereby we felt that she had to move as we were spending as much time with the home managers as we were with Mum. There was not much interaction with care staff generally, but there were a handful of excellent and friendly staff (I gather we cannot name them - which is a shame). Staffing was sometimes an issue and training needs identified. On the positive side, Mum did love the entertainment, and the events team were really good. NB If at any time you are awarded Funded Nursing Care, this does not get deducted from the quoted fees. This was not made clear to us when we signed the contract. This essentially meant that the home received an additional £235 pw for the same level of care. We felt that this should have been explained to us up front so that we understood the true fees.
West Hill has exceeded our expectations. Mum is happy and comfortable, in a safe caring environment. All the staff are extremely professional and go the extra mile. The building and rooms are modern, spacious and exceptionally clean. The management team have been extremely helpful and supportive to the needs of our mum and her family. A special mention to the activities team, they are just great.
