Park Mount Care Home

My mother moved to Park Mount in January 2025. At that stage her dementia had not progressed very far, and she was able to enjoy the wonderful activities and was mobile enough to enjoy the beautiful gardens. The staff and management were all wonderful at that time. My mother then declined after a couple
of hospital stays and her dementia also progressed, so it became apparent she needed further care than Park Mount could provide. Unfortunately this coincided with a change of manager, and things were not handled as well as they could have been. It was an extremely difficult time for me, having to find a new home at short notice, and I felt during that period that my mother was a problem or burden to Park Mount as a result of the manager's behaviour and the way they spoke to me. The staff below the manager remained wonderful and I have every praise for them. I felt that the manager could have quite easily behaved differently to make a very difficult situation easier, but failed to do so.
Reply from Maggie Bennison, Executive Assistant at Park Mount Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write your review, constructive criticism is always welcome. It is always distressing when resident's needs progress beyond the homes registration. Once a resident has been assessed as nursing the manager then has a duty of care. The change in management would not affect the decisions made and we would always give support to find a suitable alternative. None of our residents are ever a burden and we pride ourselves on "our home being their home"

Our mum was treated with respect, dignity and care at Park Mount Care Home. The staff were professional, friendly and caring. Mum enjoyed having banter with the staff and they were always helpful to us, the family. If we had any issues they were usually quickly resolved. Sue, the receptionist, is great
and would chase any issues up for us. After a bad experience with mum's care in hospital, we were glad that mum was back in PM where the staff really looked after her. Unfortunately, it has all been too much for mum, but right up to the very end the staff at PM were amazing to her and to us. They looked after us the family at a difficult time, keeping us fed and watered, until our mum eventually passed. Her carers seemed genuinely moved by her passing and our loss. Their presence at her funeral was deeply appreciated. Many thanks PM

As a family we are incredibly grateful for the care that my father received at Parkmount. This home is modern, welcoming and clinically run. It is however the quality of the individual's working within the home that create such a pleasant, caring environment.
Reply from Maggie Bennison, Executive Assistant at Park Mount Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to write such a fabulous review, although Dad was only with us a short time we strived to make him cared for and feel safe in his chosen home. I will pass your comments onto our staff team as affirmation of the good work they do everyday it is always nice to hear.

From the moment we saw the care home we knew this was the right place for Mum. The facilities are excellent and cleanliness is to a very high standard.
All the staff are friendly, welcoming, caring and professional. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
Mum enjoys the activities arranged for the
residents and is happy and well looked after. We never thought she would settle so quickly after living independently all her life.
The gardens are beautifully planned and maintained and a lovely place to take Mum who is a keen gardener.
As a family we are so grateful to the staff for making her feel at home.

I don't think anyone can completely understand how difficult it is to place a parent into respite care. The guilt is enormous but after ten months of trying our best with dad who was struggling following the death of our mum we could no longer cope. We reached out to the manager at Park Mount and she
stepped in to help us immediately.
We were so very anxious leaving him but the staff have taken excellent care of him. Things have not always been easy and my dad's behaviour was challenging at first but the care given has been amazing and we will be forever grateful.
We are still waiting for a diagnosis for dad which is difficult but we receive regular updates on his health and any changes which is very reassuring.
We are delighted with the care and support given to our dad and also the kindness shown to us. We could not have asked for him to be in a better place and know he is receiving the best possible care.
100% would recommend. Thank you to all the staff at Park Mount you are amazing!

Our mum is in respite care at Park Mount Care Home. It's been a big adjustment for mum and a huge change but the wonderful team at Park Mount have made her feel welcomed, cared for and safe. I honestly could not have wished for a nicer place for mum. Mum is settling down and joining in all the activities
which are fun and entertaining. The huge, well-kept gardens are wonderful to explore, we feel so fortunate to have this outside space. The food is excellent and there is an endless supply of drinks, I'd rather like to move in myself! This is a top team that run a very happy ship, hats off to you all, for all care, love and happy moments you aspire to give every day. We are truly grateful.

I am thrilled with how well my mum has adapted to moving into residential care. It was with a reluctant and heavy heart that she did so after 65 years in the same family home, but the staff at Park Mount Care Home have made her feel so welcome and treated her with respect, dignity and friendliness.
She is enjoying the company of other residents and has started to enjoy pastimes, in particular arts and crafts, that she had fallen out of love with in her later years. She is very much looking forward to being able to go out in the lovely gardens, check out what is growing in the veg patch, and meet the hens she can see from her window, when the better weather comes. I can't thank the Park Mount staff enough for helping my mum adjust to such a big change in her life

My parents were at Park Mount Care Home for respite care as my father had been in hospital and my mother required some much-needed recuperation and rest.
The staff at Park Mount Care Home from the first day were very caring, professional and gave both my parents and our family a great deal of comfort
and security in the knowledge that our parents were being looked after with empathy, all their daily needs were taken care of. Their room was very clean with a great view and plenty of space. The food was excellent and every request was accommodated with kindness and a can do, will do approach. The home is a happy, safe place with amazing staff.

Mum has been a resident of Park Mount for the past 6 months and has settled well and is very happy in her new home. She is so much more relaxed and contented and is clearly benefiting greatly from the good food, companionship, and excellent care provided. There is such a lovely atmosphere at Park Mount
and we have made good use of the large and well-kept grounds over the summer months. Mum very much appreciates the opportunity to attend Mass regularly and enjoys the diverse programme of activities provided. The boat trips on the canal have been a particular highlight for her! Huge thanks to all the wonderful staff for all you do.

I cannot recommend Park Mount Care Home highly enough. My Mum was sadly there for only a few weeks but the friendly, compassionate and hard-working staff could not have done more to make her feel welcome, valued and cared for. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed with Mum overnight for several days
which must have been disruptive for the staff but they were kindness personified and showed a sense of humour and a positive attitude despite being very busy. The accommodations, from newly decorated, spacious and clean rooms to the light and airy dining area and lounges are furnished beautifully. Meals are all freshly cooked, delicious and nutritious and the amazing chefs go out of their way to ensure residents have the food that they enjoy. The pretty, well-maintained gardens and the chapel provided spiritual support for Mum and all of the family did the prayers of the Pallottine Sisters who are so kind. Park Mount is a special place and we will always be grateful we found it.

Park Mount is quite simply outstanding. The professionalism, warmth and empathy displayed by all members of the Park Mount team clearly have a hugely positive impact on the residents and visitors alike. My dad was gently greeted with kindness and dignity which showed up in ways both big and small, from
the Sister calling to welcome him and offer a little blessing, the chef popping in to greet my dad by name and telling him about the menu for that evening, and the following day (as well as asking if he had any favourite dishes), the medication lady calling by to introduce herself and have a chat, high-tea arriving with a smile and the silver serving of sandwiches, along with homemade soup, just to name a few. Dad had the best night's sleep he'd had for a long while. Park Mount is welcoming and jolly with residents and staff regularly in conversation. I've heard and seen so much human kindness on each of my visits to see dad, making it a lovely experience.
