My mum moved into Fairfield House in January 2025 as her dementia had got to severe for me to support her at home. I can't fault their support, kindness and care of my mother since she has been living there. All the carers are calm, patient and kind, they always have a smile and good sense of humour.
The home is very clean and bright, with a lovely well kept garden and spacious modern rooms. They have activities and days out supporting the many varied and different needs of the residents
Reply from Jane Ellis-Morgan, Manager at Fairfield House Residential Care Home

Your mum has become part of the Fairfield family and it is lovely to see her going round the home feeling so comfortable. Stopping at the office and being with the other residents. We pride ourselves on being a happy home, that residents and families always feel welcome and supported.

Devon Lodge is a lovely and very caring home. The staff are kind and helpful. There are activities most days and my mum can take part is she wants to. The home is currently being re-decorated which make a real difference to the look and feel of the home. The staff do their very best to make the home
feel like the residents home and take the time to ensure their happiness. The majority of staff have worked here for a few years and have formed bonds with the residents.

When I was looking for a home for my mother I had been recommended to Devon Lodge - the moment I rang I was warmed by the friendliness of the manager and when they came to see mum - that was my and mum's decision made - and from that moment we didn't look back - all the staff are WONDERFUL - caring,
loving, thoughtful and professional - we could not of wished any more for my mother - HOME FROM HOME in every way - 1st class. A happy 3 years was spent here.

Day time staff excellent. However, the night time staff are not very helpful or friendly. Especially when needed to get up during the night. Long response time after buzzing staff.
Food - puddings especially the puddings are repetitive.

The staff at Devon Lodge are so kind to my elderly brother and try to get him involved in all sorts of things that are going on even though he now finds it hard to join in due to his condition. He always looks clean and neat when I visit which is usually once a week and the staff are always very welcoming
to me. I know the food is very appetising as I have visited when it was lunchtime! All in all the whole atmosphere at the home is lovely. It's a proper home as far as I can see!!

Overall very satisfied but there is just one area that requires attention which has been raised and discussed. In the main, the staff are very good at keeping my mother safe and happy. The grounds are very well cared for. The increases in the fees is also always a concern.

I can fully relax knowing that Dad is being cared for 24/7 and is happy in his new environment. He likes to be in the public areas and garden during the day and interacts with far more people than he would living alone. The staff are very kind and inclusive. My Mum has been at Devon Lodge for five and a half years now and we have always had a good relationship with the management and staff. Whilst it is regrettable that Mum's overall state-of-play has deteriorated considerably in the last 18 months or so (not due to Devon Lodge I hasten to add), it is clear
that she remains well cared for, treated with dignity always, and a valued resident. I'm not really able to comment on things such as activities these days as this is now well outside of Mum's capabilities, being mainly bed-bound and almost uncommunicative, but I have seen at first hand the staff feeding her with great patience and compassion, and generally making sure that she is still included with things such as therapy animal visits.
Communication with Devon Lodge has always been good, and they are good at making visiting family feel welcomed and looked after too. I have never had any regrets about making the choice on Mum's behalf of Devon Lodge, and they have never let us down.
Reply from Stacey Pym, Registered Manager at Devon Lodge Residential Home

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We truly appreciate your kind words and support as a family member. I understand your view regarding the larger group activities that Mum previously participated in, but which she no longer feels able to join due to her changing circumstances. It's wonderful to hear that she continues to enjoy her one-on-one sessions, especially her pamper sessions and the animal visits. These experiences are important for her well-being. I will make sure to share your positive feedback with the team at Devon Lodge. Thank you once again for your support.

Since my step-mother moved into Fairfield House in December 2024 I have felt a huge sense of relief. I am confident she has excellent care for all her needs. She is in a beautiful place and has a bright airy room with a wonderful view and a spacious ensuite shower room. The food is amazing and helping
her regain some of the weight she lost during her prior hospitalisation. I cannot speak highly enough of the management. With a finger always on the pulse and a willingness to take on and deal with everything and anything thrown at them. Any matters arising are dealt with in a timely, robust but knowledgeable and intensely caring way. All the staff are also dedicated, warm and friendly and together they all run an efficient yet family-feel welcoming environment.
I am always kept informed about my step-mother's progress and needs and there is great partnership between us over her care and well-being. I am delighted we found Fairfield House.

So pleased how well my father-in-law has settled in at Devon Lodge after spending nearly 6 weeks in hospital. The staff have played a huge part in my father-in-law's recovery. When I visit, my father-in-law often comments how pleased he is with his new home. My wife and I attended the Christmas party
