My dad came to the Abbey house care home in March 2025. He was stressed and confused as he'd lost his wife and suffered from vascular dementia. Just in a few short weeks there has been an amazing change. He's in a routine. He's eating, washing and interacting with other clientele at the home. He's under
good management and his temper is controlled. We are as a family, so relieved to have him there and he's in the best of care 10/10

I find the staff very caring. They seek to meet the needs of their clients respectfully. I feel welcomed when I arrive. If I have any concerns about my friend, I feel confident in approaching the staff in the knowledge that her needs will be ministered to. This is a good home trying to meet the challenging
needs they experience on a day-to-day basis.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
The home is well-managed, and the manager is very kind and friendly. Some of the carers speak very little English which can sometimes be a problem. The home is a bit old and can be a bit updated. The food is always a critical issue. Fresh cooked food is always preferable, so having a cook may be a good
idea though the taste in food varies a lot. Some are fussy and will eat only very good food, others don’t mind.
I liked the dining room but not the sitting room with the TV which is small and annoying. Would be good to think of some activities that residents can do together - like exercises, playing games together like chess, cards, backgammon, etc. More activities that engage the residents' brains and encourage communication with each other will be recommendable, not just sitting in front of the TV like zombies. But in general, the home is trying to provide good care and comfort. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Abbey House. Your feedback is important to us, as is the care and well-being of all of our residents. Despite your friend being here for a short span of time, she was a great character and a very friendly person. It was a sad and painful moment for all of us when she departed. We feel fortunate to have cared for her.
Following this, we have made changes within our care home and increased the types of activities we provide our residents. We appreciate your mention of freshly cooked meals and it's a shame it has not been recognised. We strive to accommodate the diverse preferences and dietary needs of our residents. We take great pride in ensuring we deliver high-quality, person-centred care and facilities to make a difference in our residents and their families lives. Thank you again for your feedback.

Overall, Abbey House - Morden is a very well-run care home. My friend has been living at Abbey House for about three years and has settled in well. The staff at Abbey House are very kind and caring. The residents are able to go out very often and access the community. The home arranges activities very
often which the residents enjoy.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.365)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.365) out of 10 for Abbey House - Morden is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.765 for Abbey House - Morden is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 68 Ratings = 4.765
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey House - Morden is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 12 registered maximum number of service users is 2.4, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hi, I'm Lijo. I started my career in a high-dependency nursing home, where I learned how to manage complex care needs and adapt quickly under pressure. While I’m grateful for those experiences, moving to Abbey House’s residential setting has allowed me to focus more on the emotional and social aspects of care.

I’ve found that working closely with families brings a richer understanding of our residents’ life stories — which helps me provide not just care, but connection. I take pride in making every resident feel secure, respected, and valued, and I believe that good care is built on strong teamwork and genuine relationships.

Hello everyone, I am Mistu.

I began my career in a nursing home setting, where I gained valuable experience supporting people with complex care needs and medical routines. While that role taught me the importance of structure and clinical care, I found my true passion when I moved into residential care at Abbey House. Here, I’m able to spend more quality time with each resident — learning who they are as individuals, not just who they are on paper.

I’m very much a people person. I love interacting with residents, hearing their life stories, and sharing moments of joy throughout the day. I treat every person I care for as though they were my own relative — with kindness, patience, and respect. For me, care is about relationships as much as responsibilities.

At Abbey House, I’ve found a team that shares the same values. We support each other, involve families closely, and work hard to make residents feel at home. Being part of someone’s daily life is a privilege — and I show up every day with a smile and the goal of making someone feel seen, valued, and loved.

Hi, I'm Arul.

My journey into care began when I supported a neighbour through a difficult time — it opened my eyes to how powerful compassionate care can be. That experience inspired me to pursue this work professionally.

One of the most important things to me is making sure that every resident I support feels safe — physically, emotionally, and mentally. Whether it’s helping with personal care or simply offering a calm and reassuring presence, I enjoy creating an environment where people feel secure and looked after. I take pride in being someone residents can depend on, especially during moments of uncertainty or change.

I also believe that trust is built through consistency and kindness. I speak with families to understand what makes their loved one feel most comfortable, and I always take the time to listen. It’s the little things — remembering a routine, offering a favourite snack, or being there with a steady hand — that can make a big difference. I enjoy knowing that I’m contributing to someone’s peace of mind every day.
