My mother was a resident at Coppermill Care for the last 7 weeks of her life, upon discharge from hospital. I cannot recommend them enough to anyone who is considering Coppermill Care Home. The flexibility, care, kindness and dignity they showed my mother and us, her family, was amazing. The activities they arrange are fantastic; I never thought I would see mum knit again (she hadn't for years due to her dementia) but yet, upon learning mum used to love knitting, knitting needles and wool were brought in and mum automatically started knitting - it was incredible. The management team and staff genuinely care about all the residents and I could not have wished for anything more for mum.

My mother first came to Coppermill in January 2023. She has always been treated with respect and dignity. The staff here are beyond kind. Whenever I visited my mum she was always clean and tidy her room was immaculate and was well fed and cared for.
When my mum was on end of life pathway any questions I had were answered promptly and professionally. There was a dedicated activity team on hand to provide so many activities and quite frankly were amazing they soon discovered my mums love of flowers and flower arranging.
At the end of my mums life the staff went above and beyond and provided my mum with a dignified end. She had someone with her the whole time.

I cannot thank the staff at this home enough for making the last three years of my mums life what she deserved and would recommend this care home to absolutely anyone.

Wow.What a fantastic Care home.I have worked and visited many homes but this home is way above any I have seen.We decide to place my mother here with her dementia needs and the management and staff have been nothing short of outstanding. They turned what I thought would be a difficult time in to an amazing experience for both my mother and our family. She was welcomed with big arms as part of a big family. My Mother settled extremely quickly feeling very safe and cared for. It's has been life changing for her providing her with the right support and needs to assist with her dementia. All the staff and management are amazing and go above and beyond at all times and they have a fantastic entertainment team which really works on the needs of each individual. The food is excellent and I can relax knowing my mother is in safe and caring hands. It has made a huge difference to how my mum is now interacting more with the right care and support yet having still her own independence. Thankyou

Mum has resided at Coppermill for over a year now. I have nothing but praise for all the staff who are always so caring. Mum is treated with sensitivity and kindness. The activities are great fun, the activity co-ordinators certainly go the extra mile to keep all the residents entertained. Mum takes part in things she previously wouldn't have, and there is always something different going on whether it is arts and crafts, celebrating different cultures and important calendar dates, exercise, and mum's favourite - music and dance! It is lovely to see all the staff take part and be included in many of the activities. It really is one big family! I have attended residents' meetings and know that everyone's opinion counts. I attend quite frequently and am always warmly welcomed and enjoy taking part in activities with mum. I cannot thank the staff enough - management and care staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending Coppermill. Looking forward to the renovation completion!

When we realised that our mum needed to be in full time care, her only requirement was that she would like to be in the local area. She was discharged from hospital and there were no available rooms in Coppermill so she went to another home outside the village temporarily. This home was ok but we asked to be put on the waiting list at Coppermill as they were refurbishing. Less than 2 weeks later we were contacted to see if we would still like the room and we said of course. We moved her in around 10 days later and have never looked back.

The standard of care at Coppermill far exceeds our expectations. From the welcoming admin lady in the front office, the care leaders, the senior management through to the handyman, kitchen staff and of course the wonderful carers the service so far has been outstanding. The attention to detail is fantastic, nothing is too much trouble and the overall care is as good as any I have seen. (I have worked in many care homes so have seen different standards ).

My father has been at Coppermill for about a year and a half. I was worried about how he would be in a home initially, but it has on the whole been a very good experience for him.
The home is staffed by lovely people who genuinely care for the people they look after. They are always smiling and very welcoming and I cannot fault them or the home in any way.

My father is very happy there, always saying how nice the staff are and telling stories of the activities that he is encouraged to do with the staff and other people living there. Some of the things he does he would never have even tried and I've seen pictures of him that have been taken by staff of him enjoying himself. The home is currently undergoing a full renovation and the bedrooms are lovely with a homely feel to them. I can't say anything but good things about Coppermill and the staff there and a huge thank you to everyone there for looking after my father so well !

This is my 2nd review. I feel compelled to write again given the passing away of my mum recently at Coppermill Care and the fact that there is new ownership and management in place since 2021.

Recently, I have had unique access to the centre having stayed by my mother's side 24/7 for a short period of a desperate time. Throughout that time, I saw and heard nothing but a caring and attentive system in place, staffed by what can only be described as thoughtful, patient and loving people - this is not a job for the staff, it is a devotion to ensure that those afflicted with the terrible disease that is dementia are living their best possible life. Care was tuned to the individual in every case I saw. Over the last year, as mum's condition deteriorated, the staff were always ahead of putting in place the changes in care that mum needed, I was always kept informed. I have no hesitation in recommending Coppermill, if you make that choice, you will have made the very best decision for your loved one.

My dad arrived here early January and, firstly, the support and help I received from the manager and the staff on the days leading up to and on the day of his arrival was so fantastic and greatly appreciated.

Dad has settled brilliantly, the staff have kept me up to date by calling, I have visited and, to be honest, my dad looks amazing, well dressed, washed, hair cut etc. now. He has been so chatty on each visit and the staff have been so kind.

My mother has been a resident at Coppermill Care Centre for almost two years. Throughout that time, which has been very difficult because of the pandemic, she has had excellent care. The manager and staff have always been very pleasant and helpful to us, and the continuity in her care workers has allowed Mum to build some valuable trusting relationships. I have been able to visit Mum outside the lockdown periods using either the "pod" specially set up or more recently in her room while pre-testing and donning appropriate PPE.

Although I am writing about the month of December, my comments can be attributed to any month. My dear friend has had the best care imaginable and the staff are really dedicated to caring for the residents. My friend is near life’s end and I can’t speak highly enough of just how much care is being put into her comfort and wellbeing. I am being kept informed of what is happening and am comforted knowing they are doing all they can in a loving and kind way.

My aunt was placed into the care of Coppermill Care Centre in November 2019. Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions and the distance I live from the home I have been unable to visit her until now. However, during this period of time, I have been kept up to date with my aunt's condition/needs. The staff are always very helpful when I contact the home they are able to give me a clear update of her current situation. I have also enjoyed the opportunity of speaking to her via Skype.
Having just been able to visit my aunt after such a long time I was relieved to find her looking happy and well cared for - a great improvement from when she was first admitted.

The staff had gone to the trouble of providing her a cake to help celebrate her 96th birthday. They realise that she has always been a sociable person and efforts are made to ensure that she takes part in the activity sessions and she has also enjoyed a couple of external outings.

My father went into Coppermill in February 2019 after my mother who is 91 was finding it difficult to cope with his dementia. Since arriving in the home he has thrived and I believe the input of the staff has meant that he is very happy and contented, he is treated as an individual and allowed to decide how long he stays in bed and what he wears (this was monitored when he lived at home), this has all been good for him. He enjoys the food and there is a good choice. My mother then had a hospital stay which resulted in a catheter, she didn't want to deal with this at home so went into Coppermill initially for respite, the care she received was good and not having eaten proper solid food for years, the staff, with help from the doctor, changed this around which was lovely for her. Unfortunately, in September she had a stroke which has meant swallowing is difficult. The staff have been extremely accommodating helping her in every way they can. We are well informed about any medical incidents that occur for both my parents and the staff are always very welcoming and helpful when we visit. As we live 3 hours away it has been a blessing to know that both parents are so well looked after.

I am utterly delighted with the level of professional care my mother has received during her stay at Coppermill Care Centre. It has, without doubt, the most genuinely caring and warm group of staff I have ever met! Each one, without exception, has shown my mother such loving attention that is so touching to witness and as she assures me, is there at all times of day and night. Her safety and well being is paramount to me, of course, and to see how much the staff here care for her also gives me confidence and reassurance and a huge sense of relief, when we leave her, knowing she is in such safe and caring hands. Food, environment and facilities are all excellent too, but my mother's smile is the biggest tick they could ever have from me!

My mother has been a resident since August, a difficult decision to make as she has always lived independently but unfortunately, her dementia was worsening. I visited various other care homes, and I am familiar with many residential homes in the area through my business but I can honestly say the Coppermill is one of the nicest, if not the best care home I have ever visited. It is fresh and clean, and offers excellent food and a wide range of activities for the residents.

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff - they are, without exception, kind, caring, attentive and hard-working and treat the residents with love and affection as if they were their own relatives.
I am given a warm welcome whenever I visit and feel I need never worry about my mother's welfare as she is so well looked after, but if any medical issues arise, I am kept very well informed.

I am so grateful that my mother is a resident here and grateful to the staff for their first class care.

Solomon Vanderpuye
Solomon VanderpuyeJob Title:Registered Home Manager

I have worked within the health and care social industry for 22 years. It has been quite a journey and working through ranks consistently has been key to my professional development.

I become a carer in 2002, whilst also pursuing my career as a student. Through constant personal and professional development in a field that I am so passionate about, I was promoted to Team Leader, Group Care Leader, Assistant Manager and Deputy positions over the years.

For the last 2 decades, I have been working in residential care homes, offering mainstream care, for individual who live with dementia and learning difficulties.

I became a Registered Manager in February 2017 and managed a small size care home in Harrow, London. I then joined Coppermill Care, in Harefield, Uxbridge, in December 2022 as the Registered Home Manager. My philosophy in care is to work closely with individuals that use our services, as well as the stakeholders of the company, to ensure we are building a quality care system that provides the best care for our users.

Building staff confidence and the right team culture and attitude is key to ensuring we provide a safe and comfortable environment for our residents at Coppermill. This is why I work closely with all the staff and ensure we always maintain a positive culture with a "can do" attitude.

Residents views are heard and their empowerment is key to our service provision and ensuring that we are meeting their individual needs.

As a Registered Manager, my vision is to support staff development and collaborate with residents and health professionals, to maintain and support the residents’ wellbeing at Coppermill Care.

Raluca Adam
Raluca AdamJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2016

Having an earlier background in the police service, I started working in the healthcare field since 2016 and I'm proud to say Coppermill Care was my first Care Home.

It was always my aim to grow professionally at Coppermill Care and also develop my skills and deepen my knowledge in the health and social care environment.

Coppermill Care offered me the first opportunity to become Health Care Assistant and that was when my journey started. As my passion grew and I became more experienced, I had the opportunity to achieve an internal promotion to Senior Health Care Assistant. Later in my career I was promoted to Head of Care at Coppermill Care and then interim Deputy Manager in the absence of the Registered Manager. In 2023, I became the Deputy Manager of Coppermill Care. It has been such a great journey and I am so proud to be in this position, making a direct positive contribution, to the lives of our residents.

Professional development has always been my aim and I have always strived to achieve further academic knowledge in parallel to gaining hands on experience. This ambition has led me to pursuing my Health and Social level 5-6 (BA) degree and my future plan is to become a Mental Health Care Consultant and Specialist.

Finally, I am passionate about individuals’ wellbeing. I maintain professionalism and work equally with staff and other health care agencies to ensure that person centred care for all of our residents is achieved. My main belief is in fairness, openness and transparency in all aspects of care and this defines my integrity.

Gheorge Pap
Gheorge PapJob Title:Head of Care

I came to the UK 9 years ago hoping to provide my family a better life. Working in Coppermill Care gave me the opportunity to evolve and build my professional career and my self-confidence day by day. The process of becoming the best version of myself was not easy from the beginning, coming here from a different background with English as a second language, encountering challenges and new situations everyday, dealing with ideas and perceptions - all of these contributed to the person who I am today and I am so proud of everything I have established and the opportunity for growth whilst at Coppermill.

I started as a carer with no experience. Since then, I have studied and completed level 2, 3 and finally level 5 in Health and Social Care Management and today I am the Head of Care. We all work for the same purpose, to support and meet our residents needs, therefore helping people is at the core of our values.

I have been in hospitality for 9 years and have to say cooking has always been a source of comfort and joy for me. I find comfort in the kitchen and I love the process of transforming ingredients into something that is beautiful and delicious.

My experiences have allowed me to be able to focus on efficiency, cost savings, customer satisfaction, food safety and sanitation, problem solving, experienced kitchen equipment knowledge and most of all team work.

I chose to move to England because of the fantastic food standards and health and safety laws where I believe I will be able to excel in my career and specifically Coppermill Care where I know I will be supported in my journey.

My academic achievements include a Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) and this has resulted to increase my self-esteem and self-confidence as well as professional development.

When I started working at Coppermill I have always felt positive and happy and am excited to continue working hard to continuously increasing my knowledge.

Danielle
Danielle Job Title:Activities Coordinator
Accepting the job offer at Coppermill care and activities coordinator was
the best career decision I have made so far. I started this role in March

2024 and have not looked back since. I look forward to going to work every day.

I have 27 years of experience working with in the fitness industry, initially as a
fitness class instructor, writing the fitness class, and activity programmes, and
arranging community events. I later progressed to assessor and tutor within my
role which led to a promotion of “Area Group Lead” Where I oversaw and wrote

the activities and fitness class programmes for 7 leisure centres.

My specialism and my passion throughout my fitness career was always towards
older adult fitness and wellbeing. I taught older adult fitness classes, falls
prevention, and chair fitness classes at within centres and Libraries for the

London Borough of Hillingdon and Age UK.

In 2016 I made the decision to train to become a Carer, which turned out one of the best decisions I had made. Supporting people, enabling people to live their lives in their own homes, and seeing the difference I was making was very rewarding.

My 104-year-old grandfather had inspired me as he was still living independently in a sheltered accommodation facility and frequently told me all he wanted was his independence. Unfortunately, after frequent falls, and for his own safety my grandfather moved into residential care, which turned out to be not one of the best, visiting my grandfather opened my eyes to many things, and I decided I wanted to make a difference and work in this in this type of setting. The opportunity to work more closely with residents daily, and build relationships was becoming stronger.

When I saw a position at Coppermill Care Home advertised and I applied. As soon as I walked in, I knew I wanted to work here, it was totally different to where my grandfather had been - it was warm,

welcoming, and everyone engaging and they were happy! I remember thinking my grandfather would have been happy here.

I am a “people person” I care about people. My mission is to make each one of our residents smile each day and to help make our residents lives as happy and as fulfilled as possible through meaningful activities while respecting their dignity, independence, their choices, and opinions. My approach to designing activities for our residents is person centred and I consider the needs and goals, and individual likes and dislikes or each of our residents where possible. I believe in team work, collaboration, and community engagement I will continue to develop my own skills and leverage the experience of others within the Coppermill family and listen to our residents and

their families.
