We are a small happy local care home in Hornchurch. We are Family providers of care locally since 2001. We provide specialised residential dementia care for respite or permanent stay. Single en-suite bedroom available. Home from Home atmosphere. Our long serving experienced staff really do care.
‘My journey in care started at the age of 16. I realised it was the career path I wanted to take from an early age, after spending some of my childhood visiting a family member in a care home. Aside from seeing my family member, I enjoyed interacting with the other residents and hearing their life stories. Providing personalised care that meets the individual’s needs, promoting independence, and enabling residents to live fulfilling lives with purpose and joy is very important to me. It gives me great satisfaction seeing the emotional and support needs of residents being met. I was promoted to Manager 7 years ago, and I love this position because it gives me the opportunity to foster an environment where residents feel respected, valued, and truly at home, making the experience a positive one for them and their loved ones. I am grateful to have such a caring, experienced team around me who share the same vision and values as I do. Despite its challenges, I find working in care very rewarding. I believe having a good sense of humour, a caring nature, and a willing attitude is key.’
‘I started working at Emerson Court in 2003 as a Carer, and shortly after, I was asked to become a member of management. Before this, I worked as a Night Care Assistant for two other homes. What I most love about working at Emerson Court is making the people I care for smile and laugh. It is hard work but very rewarding. It brings me happiness knowing I have made a difference to someone else’s day. Being a manager allows me to ensure the people who reside at Emerson Court receive the best care possible.
I started working in care later in my life and have been doing so for 11 years now. I realised I would make a great carer after looking after family members over the years, including my poorly father, nan, and grandad. I felt comfort knowing I made their last memories happy ones, and therefore I decided to begin my journey as a care assistant. I love learning about the people I help care for and seeing them smile. I have worked for two other care companies before Emerson Court; however, this one feels more like a home.
I have been working in care of some sort for 21 years, and joined Emerson Court in 2019 as a carer and tea cook. In 2022, I was promoted to a Senior Carer. The thing I love most about my job is caring for residents as I would for my family. Seeing the residents happy and making them comfortable is my priority. I love interacting with the family and friends of our residents and hearing all about our residents’ life experiences. I don’t feel like I am going to work when coming to Emerson Court, as it feels like I am coming home to spend time with family.
‘I have been working at Emerson Court as an Activities Co-ordinator since 2017 and have recently been promoted to Activities Lead. The best thing I love about my job is that it doesn’t really feel that I am working when interacting with the residents because I am doing all the things I love, such as cooking, arts and crafts, gardening, bingo, chair yoga, Singing and dancing and much more. It is a very rewarding role, and seeing residents happy after participating in an activity makes really makes me happy. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for activities, I’m always happy to try new things.’
