Deer Lodge is a homely, warm and friendly residential and dementia care home set in a lovely area of Teddington opposite to Bushy Park.

Deer Lodge supports 14 residents and provides them with a high standard of care. All staff are well trained, carefully vetted and recruited for skills in caring. Deer Lodge does not use agency staff. Being a smaller care home enables us to provide care that fits the needs of each individual resident.

The home has a warm and happy atmosphere and feels like a 'home from home'. With a delightful garden, the philosophy is to give residents the best possible quality of life while promoting their independence, privacy and dignity.

At Deer Lodge, the smaller number of residents cared for allows staff to understand the changing care needs of each resident on a day-to-day basis. The residents also get to know each staff member well, which builds familiarity and trust. Most of the staff have been with Deer Lodge for more than 5 years, which helps residents feel secure. Deer Lodge believes that keeping the employees happy will have a very positive effect on the residents.

Great emphasis is placed on creating a pleasant, homely atmosphere for residents. Special attention is given to the happiness and individual requirements of all residents. The management is directly involved in the resident’s lives supporting them and supervising that the care is provided at the highest standard.

Deer Lodge has a visiting hairdresser, optician, dentist, chiropodist, GP's, district nurses and other health professionals.

The home was awarded a rating of 'good' in all areas by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in their last routine inspection (November 2019).

Deer lodge is registered with London Borough of Richmond and is highly regarded by both the local community and the medical professionals.

Deer Lodge has been absolutely wonderful for my mother-in-law. From the very first day, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and genuinely like a home rather than an institution. The staff are simply outstanding -caring, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile, not just for residents but
for families too.
The place itself is beautifully kept, bright, and full of life. There's a real sense of community, with thoughtful activities, good food, and little touches that make every day special. Most importantly, my mother-in-law is happy, comfortable, and safe, and that peace of mind for us as a family is priceless.
I couldn't recommend Deer Lodge more highly - it's a place where residents are treated with dignity, kindness, and love

My father has been lucky enough to in the care of the wonderful Deer Lodge team for 2 years now.. His medical condition has deteriorated, and the staff have been amazing at looking after him as his needs change. The staff are kind, gentle and genuinely caring. Communication between myself and carers
over medical issues has been very reliable and efficient and I am always made aware of any changes in Dad's condition. The food is superb, and there are plenty of varied activities on offer for those who can enjoy them. I can visit my father at any time, and am completely confident in the care he receives. If you're looking for a small, personal home where the staff are consistent (low turnover of staff, we got to know them all very quickly) and really know the residents well, then look no further! I really can't thank the staff enough!

I choose Deer Lodge some five year ago after researching local care homes. Wanting to keep in close proximity, and searching for a small setting with a homely feel and smaller number of residents with a more personal feel.
Working in care settings myself for many years I knew what I was looking for.
The staff are very caring, empathetic always respectful and very accommodating. They are a great team that provide a valued service from personal care and assisting with daily living, monitoring health & contacing relevant professionals as required. Always keeping us fully informed. They encourage social connections with activities and also accompany to hospital & clinical appointments keeping us fully informed at all times. They are respectful to the needs of independence and wishes expressed from both resident and ourselves, which also extends to emotional support, always have time to offer a listening ear.
They work to promoting wellbeing at all times! Chef does an outstanding Job too

This was not our first choice when it came to finding a care home for our mother, but we were so glad she got in here! I believe this home specialises in dementia care and I have nothing but positive things to say, especially if you value the quality of the people that work there. They are so sweet,
kind-hearted, and hardworking, always welcoming visitors with a smile and doing the best for their residents. A friend who has cause to visit care homes up and down the country confided it was one of the best she had visited in the UK. If you value, the interaction and quality from the care givers as your number one priority in this is the place that you would want to end up should the worse happen to yourself. There is a large (for the area)garden that is lovely to sit outside and have a cup of tea in the summer months, and the place has had a spruce up recently. If you want peace of mind for your parent or loved-one this gets 5 stars from me.

Great pleasant experience here stay a family member stayed here for a few weeks and the staff were so accommodating and helpful! The rooms were clean spacious and modern. Would have no hesitation booking again

My father, who is now 98 and suffers from dementia, has been a resident for the last four years. I can't speak too highly of the quality of care he has received, dating back to a time before the onset of his dementia. The staff are uniformly excellent and have gone out of their way to make my father
feel at home. They cater to his every need and are excellent at keeping me informed. As a relatively small facility, the care the residents received is much more personal than in larger homes. Highly recommended.

Deer Lodge is a small residential home, with fourteen beds only, so there are not often vacancies. Cosy and intimate, may even feel a little cramped on first inspection. Most of the staff have been there many years so everyone knows your name and gets to know your individual needs and preferences. The
staff are very friendly and you feel more like part of a family than an anonymous face in a hotel. My sister has been there for four years and is very happy. She is severely disabled so needs constant help and supervision. The food is excellent, no complaints there.
There is a TV lounge/dining room at the rear and a pleasant garden and patio area for residents to enjoy, weather permitting. As a pensioner myself I find the cost of all the care homes terrifying, but Deer Lodge is no worse than most in that regard. If it cost half the amount I would still think it expensive but when you've been on a pension for 28 years everything is expensive! My sister gets all the care she needs, in a pleasant clean and safe environment and that's what matters.

Our mum is a new resident in this lovely small caring care home where all the staff cannot do enough to care and be there for mum and all the other residents. We visited many others but knew immediately this gem of a home was the place for mum to be and looked after. The staff are always smiling,
welcome you when you come to visit and work extremely hard always with a smile. The garden is lovely and the residents are able to go outside when the weather is good which is lovely. There are activities and exercises which they all enjoy and can take part in. The food is very good, fresh and a good variety. Visitors are always welcome anytime and no need to call in advance. The organisation of medication is good, a hairdresser is available if needed and love and care is shown always.

Deer Lodge is a house that has been converted into a care home and still has that homely feel. It only has a limited number of residents and a regular team of carers. Quite a few staff have been there for a long time which I think shows morale is high. As a regular visitor, I have become familiar with
not only the staff but the other residents. I have been very impressed with the staff who show great patience, kindness and good humour towards those in their care. I feel very lucky to have found Deer Lodge to look after my mother.

Mum was looked after at Deer Lodge for six months as a temporary placement. The staff were fantastic. Caring, kind and super-efficient. There is a homely feel and I would highly recommend. My only criticism would be the lack of activities for those able, but Covid had interrupted this.

Deer Lodge is a small homely care home providing a safe, caring environment for the day to day care of our lovely mum. The carers are amazing. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and because of its small size, everyone knows everyone else. It really is a home from home.

The care and attention my mother received whilst living at Deer Lodge were exemplary. The team are attentive, courteous and professional at all times, and being a small care home, with only a few residents, they are able to establish a warm, welcoming and loving environment. Mum was very happy at Deer
Lodge and it quickly became her home from home. I have every confidence in the procedures that the care team have put into place due to Covid19 and can not recommend Deer Lodge enough.

It has already been 1 year since I came into this lovely home and I can say that I would recommend it to everybody. This is more than a care home, it is a real home, the staff are very friendly and experienced, the management very kind and helpful in any circumstances. They handled this crisis very
well as there were no infections here. Staff get tested weekly and the residents monthly. I can say that I feel very safe here.

Mum's been a resident in 3 care homes and in and out of hospital over the last 2 years. I can without a doubt say that the care she has received at Deer Lodge has been the best. The staff all go that extra mile to look after Mum, are proactive in how to make her more comfortable, and make both me and
my sisters feel very welcome when visiting or phoning Mum. The staff have been very supportive of Mum with her eating, trying very hard to give her meals that she likes and encouraging her to eat when she isn't getting enough nutrition. They also encourage her to leave her room, even though she's not very sociable and may decide she wants to go downstairs at somewhat anti-social times. Coronavirus has made everyone's life difficult, but particularly those working in the care sector, and the staff and management of Deer Lodge have really worked hard to make sure that it hasn't compromised the care shown for all residents - thank you.

The care my dad got in Deer Lodge was second to none. The staff are all amazing and did all they could to support dad's needs and also were very supportive with me as well. They involved all the residents in activities on a daily basis to stimulate them and also involved any visitors who were there
at the time. If ever dad was unwell they would phone me to let me know. All the staff went over and beyond when it came to the resident's welfare. I cannot thank all of the staff enough for making my dads time there so happy.

My mum has been a resident since 2016 when her dementia worsened and we could no longer look after her. Since the first time I walked in there I have felt confident that my mum is well cared for and treated as ‘family’. In the early days the management team gave me and Mum lots of emotional support
through a very tough time. Even when you know it’s the correct decision it isn’t easy to see a loved one move away, but I have never had a doubt that her care is of the highest standard. The staff at Deer Lodge are absolutely wonderful and really get to know each resident’s likes and dislikes. Because Deer Lodge is quite small (14 residents) it doesn’t feel like an institution. When you visit you truly feel that you are visiting a family home. I would not hesitate to recommend Deer Lodge and thank all the staff for doing such a brilliant job.

My mum has been a resident at Deer Lodge since Oct 2013 when her Alzheimers worsened. It is a small, cosy and welcoming home with the most wonderful carers. Mum has been looked after in a dignified and loving way with tremendous support from all of the staff and management. Time is taken to understand
the needs of both the residents and their families, it is a real home from home. The main asset of Deer Lodge is the staff, mum still has the same carers as when she arrived seven years ago. I would highly recommend Deer Lodge.
