Mum is happy here after a very arduous journey for her care. The staff worked above and beyond to assist her. Visiting is always pleasant and the activities lady gets all the residents involved and certainly livens the place up every day.
The atmosphere is always welcoming.. The cook does a great
job, food is lovely and mum looks healthier since she's been here.

My mum loved it here, quickly becoming very fond of all the staff. As a picky eater, they cooked the things that she would eat, or that we took in. I would happily eat what the residents are given and fresh cakes are made each day!
Mum was assisted in being showered and dressed every day. She used
to say that if someone told her 2 months ago, she would be showered and dressed by a man, she wouldn't believe them. It turned out that one of her favourite carers was a man, but he made her laugh so she wasn't embarrassed. She took part in activities, which she really enjoyed. She sat in the garden and chatted with her new friends. She even put on a little weight. When she got really ill, they could have said she had to go to the hospice, but she desperately wanted to stay there. So, the palliative team supported her at the home. The St Margarets staff looked after her with such care and compassion, we will never be able to thank them enough. We still visit as we cannot say goodbye.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about St Margaret's Care Home! The staff here are truly exceptionally caring, attentive, and dedicated to providing the best possible care. The facilities are incredibly personal and welcoming, making it feel like a true home rather than just a care facility. My
nan has been staying here for a little while now, and I am thrilled with how happy and healthy she looks. The team at St Margaret's goes above and beyond to ensure every resident is comfortable and content. I would 100% recommend St Margaret's Care Home to anyone looking for somewhere safe, caring and loving.

My mum was a resident for 3 and a half years with dementia. She has sadly passed away. St Margaret’s is the most caring, loving, and friendly home. I cannot fault a single thing. Every person there, be it staff or residents and their loved ones all had a lovely relationship. It was like going to a family
home. My mum was so happy there. She got her mojo back when she was placed there. She became her happy self again and she made a special friend there and they became inseparable. In later years of life, it was heartwarming to see they found a bestie in each other.
If you are looking for a care home, then look no further. I would 100% recommend anyone placing their loved one in the care of the people at St Margaret’s.

Looking for a care home is such a personal decision, and when we viewed others, they just didn’t feel right, but St Margaret’s felt like home. It felt like a place where I was happy to bring my own children, a place where I felt relaxed and a place where I felt the residents were cared for and happy.
The atmosphere is relaxed, often with music playing, always warm and welcoming; this is not a spa hotel care home, this is a warm hug care home, a place where residents feel loved and little details matter. Like your favourite pair of slippers, it offers comfort and security to its 23 residents as they slow down their pace of life. The manager cares so much about each and every one of her residents, and this is also true of her staff. My grandad particularly loves one member of staff, who is an absolute legend in the way he treats the residents like they are his own grandparents. What more can I say, thanks so much for taking care of one of my favourite people.

Care for my mum is outstanding.
All staff are very attentive and lovely.

My mum is not left in bed all day like her previous care home did.

My sister and I would like to thank, from the bottom of our hearts, all of the wonderful staff at St Margaret's for their compassion and care that they have shown our mum. Our mum was showered with love, treated with the utmost respect, always treated with such dignity, was spotlessly clean and very
happy. If you are looking for a care home, look no further, it's home from home. The food is home-made and delicious! I would always come away knowing that Mum was in such great care. Thank you to the manager, senior carer and everyone else involved, absolute stars.

Her bedroom is very clean and decorated nicely with nice furniture. There is a lovely garden. The food choices are varied. I am very grateful for the

My aunt has settled well into St Margaret's Residential Home following the closure of her previous home. The staff are amazing. St Margaret's has a person-centred approach and the staff make every effort to cater for my aunt's preferences and interests. She is kept clean and well-dressed. She enjoys
being in the communal area and her bedroom is of excellent quality.
I cannot thank the staff enough for giving me peace of mind that my aunt's care is first class.

Dad has been in the care of St Margaret's for 8 months now. He has been very happy there and has joined in with the many activities provided, especially the singing and dancing. It is obvious the moment you walk through the door that this is a happy and comfortable place to live. Dad took a while to
settle but now tells me that this is his home and the people there are his family, which is peace of mind for me. St Margarets is very clean, and the staff work extremely hard to ensure that the residents are kept clean and well dressed. Sadly Dad's health is now declining, but he is receiving the very best of care from people he has come to love and trust. If your loved one is going to St Margaret's, please be assured that they will also receive the very best of care from people who enjoy the care they provide

It was a very difficult decision we made to move Dad into residential care. Four weeks on, and we couldn’t be more sure that we have chosen the right place! Dad has settled well, and we are grateful for the care and support both he and we have had. The staff are all so kind and generate - a lovely ‘family
feel’ to the home. Dad has been gently encouraged to socialise in the communal areas, which he wasn’t keen to do at first. I can’t comment on activities as I don’t know enough about them. I did, however, meet a newly appointed actives coordinator recently who was very enthusiastic and interested to hear about Dad and his interests. We recently attended a family BBQ there, and it was evident that other families we met feel the same as we do about this lovely home!

Mum has recently passed and was a resident for 18 months after being diagnosed with dementia. Prior to moving into St Margaret’s, she had been living alone and therefore, had to adjust to being around others on a daily basis. The staff were extremely good at helping her settle in and engage in the various
activities with the other residents. We saw her quality of life improve as she made close friends and noticed an improvement in her physical health as she was able to receive regular treatment as required. The home appears to be very well run, and the manager has been extremely helpful with both practical help and general advice around Mum’s care and wellbeing. Mum also loved the food and the fact that “everybody does everything for me”. Finally, the whole team that cared for Mum were excellent, and we owe a big thank you to all of them.
Finding a suitable care home is challenging, and no home is perfect, but our family feel particularly fortunate that Mum/Nan found this one.

Excellent care home. All staff were so kind and caring in the two years my mum was resident. Sadly she died in June, and her care in her final days was superb. The manager is good and runs a tight ship, and the staff are superb and devoted. The care home is lovely with good entertainment, and it was
great to see Mum dancing when able. Highly recommended facility if you want your loved ones to be well and truly cared for.

My dad came from hospital straight to St Margaret's in lockdown in January 2021. It was a really upsetting time for our family, and in particular, my dad having dementia; he just didn't understand where he was and why he was there. All the staff were amazing in helping him settle in with their care,
patience, understanding and professionalism. My dad has learnt to trust them, and we can see how he has flourished in their care. It really is like one big happy family for the residents, and through our daily updates via the Facebook group, I feel like I have got to know each of the other residents and their characters and I too feel like I have an extended family. Thank you to all at St Margaret's for everything you do for my dad.

Short version - It's a fabulous home - have no worries about bringing a loved one here; they will be very well taken care of.
Long Version - my aunt's dementia got to the point where we had no option but to bring her from her bungalow to a home, the one thing she refused to accept. From the very start,
the team at St Margaret' have provided the utmost care for her, from supporting her arrival, getting her settled and quickly helping her find her groove.
As many noted, through Covid, the team helped with phone calls with family during lockdown... a small example of the lengths they went to, again, quickly to keep all the staff and residents well protected and looked after.
This also meant I hadn't seen my aunt for 2-years until a visit last month, and I was so pleased with how well she looked... clearly better than when I saw her after she moved in.
I am so grateful to everyone at the home for everything they do for her, and I think this is just an excellent home.

We have been very pleased with the changes that have been made since the new manager has arrived. Every room has had new flooring, the lounge also has new flooring, and new furniture has been acquired. The entertainment has improved, and residents are always busy. He is going to improve bathroom facilities
that are long overdue. St Margaret's is a much happier place to live.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.769)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.769) out of 10 for St Margaret's Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.969 for St Margaret's Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (93 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.969
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Margaret's Residential Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
