Since Mum came to St Margaret’s, she has continued to thrive and is always happy. The staff here are always approachable, professional and friendly, and it is obvious to us, as visitors, that the residents are all treated with dignity, compassion and respect. Thank you, staff, of St Margaret’s, for
continuing to make my mum’s stay a happy one.

Mum was admitted to St Margaret's following a stay in hospital. Mum wasn't keen on the idea but was soon won over by the excellent management and kind staff. Being a smaller home the staff are able to get to know the residents and form bonds. Mum loved the personal touch and started to regard St Margaret's
as home.
It was reassuring to me, that the home took their covid protocols very seriously and ensured that visitors followed them.
I would certainly recommend the home due to the wonderful staff and pleasant accommodation.

My mother has been at St Margaret's for over 12-months now, having been in two other homes, and I can honestly say that since the COVID pandemic, the home has taken every action they need to ensure the residents are in a safe and COVID free environment. They have the most fabulous 'entertainments assistant'
who goes to extreme lengths to encourage resident participation with a wide range of activities. My mother reports liking the food and is comfortable with all of her care providers.

I would definitely recommend this home. I trust the staff, cleanliness and care provided. The only caveat is that I have not actually been inside the home since March 2020, so cannot comment on the current internal situation, but that is not the fault of the home, just the COVID restrictions they have to abide by.

Mum is happy, well cared for and secure. The staff are friendly and caring and have coped well with the demands posed by Covid. The arrangements for Covid testing of visitors prior to in-room visits are very efficient and well managed.

Both my parents are in this home and I am extremely happy with how they are cared for. They are together in a double room and look very happy. Mum and dad had lost the ability to wash and change her clothes before she went in there. Although we can only look through the window to see them they always
look clean and fresh with clean clothes on every time. The staff are extremely friendly and contact me should they require something or something happens to them. They both tell me that the food is very good and the staff are very friendly.

Just had a lovely WhatsApp video call with Mum. She’s obviously in very good spirits and happy with life. The staff seem to enjoy her company too! Although we are unable to visit because of Covid restrictions, her carer is happy to bring his phone to Mum’s bedside and facilitate the contact which would
otherwise be impossible as Mum is bed-bound.

St Margaret's is an exceptional residential care home. I knew from the day I walked in it was going to be 'the one'. Mum is thriving under the care of excellent staff and management. It feels like a family home, which I believe is down to the exceptional team who work here. I can't praise it enough.

Our father was a resident at St Margeret's for 4 months. Our father could not have received better care anywhere. The staff were cheerful, caring and willing. We knew St Margaret's was the home for us as soon as we walked in. It has a happy and homely atmosphere. When our father passed away everything
was handled incredibly sensitively. The staff were always welcoming and professional.

Warm welcome on arrival, staff were friendly, caring and respectful. My aunt was in her room on her bed, not in a happy mood, but comfortable. We were brought a cup of tea. By the time I left, she was much happier. I am satisfied that my aunt is being cared for and treatment for an eye infection was
successful. I am very appreciative of all that the management and staff do for my aunt who can be very challenging.

St Margaret's Residential Home is a really caring and happy home. The staff are very good with my mother and care a great deal for all the residents. My mother is always clean and cared for. I cannot thank staff enough for all the good work that they all put into which helps the home run as well as
it does. I could not wish for a better home.

The care at St Margaret's Residential Home is the most important thing for me and my mother. Care staff are extremely caring and friendly and helpful, they really go above and beyond to meeting mother's needs.

The manager has always been there for me and I think she runs a tight ship. I am there

a lot (day and night) and I am very happy that my mother is cared for to a good standard. 100% satisfied.

The staff are friendly and considerate. They are polite to visitors and good with the residents, who they seem to have got to know very well. The home is very cosy and comfortable with a pleasant garden. The environment is generally homely and warm. If there are any issues, staff are quick to ring me.
The home is situated in a pleasant, quiet and convenient area. There is no problem parking.

Although I have had a dispute in the past over the level of fees charged at this home, I am generally happy with my mum's level of care here. The staff are very accommodating and caring and when I visited mum yesterday, she seemed very happy in herself. She was clean and presentable and her room tidy.
The food seems to be of an acceptable standard with regular refreshment provided to the residents. My only concern is the level of mental stimulation provided by way of entertainment during the day. I have been there when it is taking place and this has been good but I'm not sure how regularly this takes place. Other than this point, I am happy that mum is in the right place. Under "Value for Money", there aren't too many choices available and so I have put "poor" because although the service is generally acceptable, I still think the cost is very high for what mum is paying.

My father entered St Margaret's Residential Home in January when due to personal circumstances, I was unable to continue being his primary carer. Prior to entering St Margaret's Residential Home dad had become more and more distant preferring to sleep rather than talk. After a week in his new environment,
he became our dad again chatting and taking an interest in the world again. The home allows me to take my dogs to visit. I cannot praise them enough.

I found the care home and its staff took great care of my mother who sadly passed away in early January 2018. They did all that was expected of them - in fact, nothing was too much trouble to make her feel comfortable and safe.

This home is excellent. The staff have a proper routine for changing soiled pads, hence my wife is always nice and clean whenever I visit with no prior warning, and she is always looked after with respect. It's just a lovely, homely care home and I appreciate that my wife is looked after so well.
Even when I visit, they make me so welcome with a nice cup of coffee or tea. It's been the same since my wife has been there for 2 years. I can't speak highly enough of St Margaret's.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.769)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.769) out of 10 for St Margaret's Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.969 for St Margaret's Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (93 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.969
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Margaret's Residential Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
