My aunt came here 4 years ago after a family emergency and has been very well looked after ever since. The staff are kind and calm and I've only ever seen them appear gentle and compassionate to her needs. They engage with her and try to keep her moving & responsive. Management has improved since the
current general manager took over and she runs it very well and invests in upgrades for residents well being.

I visited my sister and was amazed at the care given by all the staff. They made a lovely cake for my sister's birthday, and the nurses sang Happy Birthday to her. It was such a joyful experience for all.

My mother has been a resident at Nazareth House for almost a year. She receives excellent care and is well looked after. All the staff are so caring and communication is very clear. She enjoys all the activities and the rooms and grounds are always clean. She also enjoys and finds comfort in the church
attached and the nuns are wonderful. I am very pleased my mother has found such a Lovely care home. Thank you to all the staff.

My sister entered Nazareth House just after Easter 2024 as a resident with mobility needs. Early in October she was diagnosed with a terminal cancer. She passed away on October 26. During those six months her care needs progressed from assistance with mobility and bathing to full-scale palliative care.
The response of the staff to those changing needs was exemplary. Her care went beyond professional - it came from the heart. She died peacefully, supported by the prayers of the inspirational Sisters of Nazareth.

I cannot praise a particular member of staff (nurse) enough. Whenever I have any issues she provides me with reassurance. She knows exactly what is going on with my father. All the other staff are really friendly.

The staff were very helpful. They enabled my friend and I to take our friend out into the garden, in a wheelchair and when she returned they were able to direct us back to the lounge where someone was getting ready to put her onto a special bed.
The home seemed very clean and there are books, trees
and cars going by and even a small selection of biscuits for the residents. The chapel is very lovely.

My mum's experiences have been very positive and she is happy here. The staff are lovely and the nuns are really helpful. Everyone stops to have a chat, which makes for a friendly community. Mum's health has declined recently - she is 91 after all, but the support continues and no one moans about anything,
of having to change her yet again. When Mum was better she used to love going to the evening socials which the nuns arranged and she still enjoys the parties and celebrations eg for the coronation. She likes going to Mass every day, even though she's not a Catholic.

I visit my friend on a regular basis and have found him well looked after and the carers helpful. I have no knowledge of the activities offered. My friend seems happy with the food provided.
It would be helpful if a summary of the RDA account could be provided on a regular basis, maybe monthly.
Reply from Sheriff Raji, General Manager at Nazareth House - East Finchley

Thank you for the lovely comments. I will speak to our finance department and ensure RDA account is provided regularly.
Kind regards,
Sheriff.

I am very pleased with the care my mum (who has dementia) has received during several respite stays at Nazareth House. Everyone, from the receptionist to the house keepers are pleasant and welcoming. All the carer's I have had the pleasure to meet are compassionate, understanding, very friendly and
knowledgable in their field.
Nazareth House is well managed, the housekeeping is good and the restaurant provides a good variety of food.

I have always found the staff to be professional and they have always displayed empathy to the patients.
The bingo is very good, and is enjoyed by all.
The home has a good range of activities.
My one concern is the smell of urine in the hallway. This is not all the time, however when it does it is
very overpowering.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.365)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.365) out of 10 for Nazareth House - East Finchley is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.408 for Nazareth House - East Finchley is calculated as follows: ( (34 Excellents x 5) + (32 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.408
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.957 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Nazareth House - East Finchley is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 registered maximum number of service users is 16.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.8 = 0.357
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
