My mum passed away peacefully this weekend after spending over two and a half years at Nazareth House. Mum had advanced dementia and needed full nursing care to meet her needs. As a family we feel blessed that she was part of the community here during this time and we are so thankful for the kind, compassionate,
person centred care she received.
Mum was happy and content during her time at Nazareth House, she loved spending time in the large garden and taking part in the wide variety of activities that were organised. The staff are really friendly, considerate and treat the residents with dignity and respect. They got to know mum well during this time and as a family we felt a real bond with everyone. It was sad to say goodbye today because we felt so welcome and involved but we have many happy memories from mum's time here.
I would warmly recommend Nazareth House to anyone and want to express our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff team who make a real difference every day.
Reply from Teresa Handford, General Manager at Nazareth House - CardiffThank you for such a lovely warm review of the service. I am pleased to know that the family felt supported and the team were appreciated. I will pass on this feedback to all staff as this will inspire them to continue with the delivery of care that merits such a positive message form you at this difficult time. Please remain a visitor to our home whenever you are able.

My mum has been resident in Nazareth House Bonnyrigg for 4 weeks and I have been hugely impressed with the level of care and activities provided for her. I was worried how my mum would settle in the care home, but she is happy and seems to be thriving in the environment. I have access to the app and
there are regular posts showing what my mum has been doing and helps showcase the activities she has been taking part in.
Reply from Bianca Courtney, General Manager at Nazareth House - BonnyriggThank you so much this means a great deal I will pass this on to the staff team :)

My father was in Nazareth House for 3 years. The staff gave the best care they could in the circumstances, given how short staffed they usually are. Staff turnover was an issue at the start but they now have a settled staff team. Staffing is still an issue at times, especially at weekends, fees have
increased a third in last 3 years. Clothes which were all labelled, often went missing in the laundry. It was sometimes hard to get pads for my dad, which he has on prescription. The activities are excellent.

Overall the experience has been very positive. The staff are very friendly and work with the residents to ensure they are comfortable and get the most out of their home at Nazareth House. The activities are fun but also beneficial for wellbeing and exercise. It would be good to see more activities over
a weekend but appreciated there are not so many staff on duty. Would be happy to recommend Nazareth House to others.
Reply from Teresa Handford, General Manager at Nazareth House - CardiffThank you for your positive comments they are much appreciated . Staff will be informed, as this often reinforces what a marvellous job they do each day. The activities on weekends are often group events - music, dancing and socialising as quite a few residents have visitors, famil & friends over the weekends. We try to assist with visits if required.

My wife has been resident at Nazareth House for more than two and a half years now. She has advanced dementia and needs full-time residential care.
She has been very comfortable and well cared for. The staff are genuinely caring and the nursing home is well managed. Communications with the staff have
always been good.
She enjoys taking part in the activities that are organised for the residents.
Her particular pleasure is spending time in the beautiful, large garden. Even on the days when she is struggling more than usual, she always perks up when I take her into the garden in her wheelchair.
Her room is not big, but is very adequate for her needs. She doesn't spend a lot of the daytime in her room.
My wife is very content at Nazareth House and I can't imagine a better place for her, under the circumstances.
Reply from Teresa Handford, General Manager at Nazareth House - CardiffThank you for your positive feedback - this will be passed to the staff and I can assure you is greatly apprectiated

Caring staff who know my mum well. Any concerns are addressed. One nurse who was very abrupt and always on the computer has since left. Other nurses are conscientious and hard working. Relay concerns to the gp's.
Reply from Teresa Handford, General Manager at Nazareth House - CardiffThere has been some changes to staff to develop practices in approach to residents, visitors and external professionals. It is positive to receive this feedback to reinforce that some changes were required and positive change is now in place . Thank you for these comments.

My Aunt became a resident at Nazareth House recently and my wife and I are delighted with the care she is receiving. Our Aunt was really struggling to cope on her own at home and that challenge manifested itself in her increasing poor wellbeing She is so much happier now at Nazareth House. The wrap
around care she receives is exemplary; the staff are caring, respectful and empathetic to her. Despite her challenges she has really embraced all that Nazareth House has to offer her My wife and I are thrilled our aunt is in receipt of great care and are grateful to all the staff there for their dedication towards her

My mother was only with Nazareth House for a month, but I have to say she was looked after. All staff are so attentive, and nothing seems to trouble them. Mum was deteriorating at a rate and we couldn't leave her at home and after being offered a place here for her we reluctantly placed her here. We
made a good choice, it is warm, cosy and comfortable and feels homely and they look after your loved one. The staff interact and do all sorts of activities although as mum got worse, she wasn't able to participate. Thoroughly recommend this care home.
Reply from Kelly Barrow, Manager at Nazareth House - NorthamptonThank you for your kind review. We welcome all feedback and we have an open door policy. We are please you were happy with the care.

It's a pleasure to complete this review, relating to the care my wife has received at this home for nearly two years. She has advanced Alzheimer's dementia and cannot talk, walk, or feed herself. She is also doubly incontinent. Nowhere is perfect, but I regard the manner in which she is cared for as
a real blessing - and relief! The manager, visiting GP, nurses, carers, and support staff are such an encouragement. Many go the extra mile, as they see or anticipate my wife's immediate or long-term needs. This is so crucial, because she cannot communicate normally. The Sisters of Nazareth support the staff by displaying loving - and sometimes practical - concern. This greatly enhances the holistic nature of the caring experience at Nazareth House.
The well cared for garden area is a tranquil oasis, giving us - and many others - a breath of fresh air in more ways than one!
Reply from Teresa Handford, General Manager at Nazareth House - CardiffThe team would like to thank you for the positive review , your comments are deeply valued and will be fed back to all staff. It is pleasure to care for your wife and we enjoy your visits.

I am pleased with the services rendered to clients in this home. It will be appreciated if the home can get assistance of the NHS for physiotherapy for those who may need it.
Reply from Kelly Barrow, Manager at Nazareth House - NorthamptonThank you for your feedback. We aim to deliver a high standard of care to our residents. We work close with professional bodies to ensure referrals are made within a timely manner and we like to think referrals will be accepted by the NHS however this is at the NHS discretion.

I live in Essex and don't visit as often as I'd like, the communication I have with house is faultless.
NH is full of love , you feel it from the moment the door is opened to you. Happy staff greet you with a smile and with interest, they want to hear memories and stories of your loved one. Staff
have time for you. My uncle settled in quickly. He is happy and well looked after.
I work in care, I know a good care home, this care home exceeds that. Yes it has a tired decor, but it's clean. Staff and residents are happy, there is a lot of laughter (and even more love). The activities are inclusive. They also care about residents loved ones.
Choosing the right care placement for a loved one is hard , choosing NH was easy (and they haven't let us down).
Thank you NH for your care and attention , it doesn't go unnoticed

My aunt stayed at Nazareth House for five months, and I cannot put into words how grateful our family is for the exceptional care she received during her time there.
From day one, every member of staff showed genuine kindness, patience, and respect. My aunt was treated with dignity at all times, and
it was clear that her comfort, wellbeing, and emotional needs truly mattered to everyone involved in her care.
All staff without exception, went above and beyond, not because they had to, but because they genuinely care. The environment was warm, calm, and reassuring, which gave our family enormous peace of mind during what could have been a very difficult period. Knowing she was safe, supported, and cared for with such compassion meant everything to us. We will always be deeply thankful to the entire team at Nazareth House for their dedication, humanity, and professionalism. Their care made a real difference to my aunt's life and to ours. I cannot recommend this care home high enough.
