Nazareth House - Birkenhead

I cannot praise highly enough the staff at Nazareth House. The kindness and compassion shown to my mother helped enormously at a time of crisis, when we needed to find a care home for mum. Knowing that she was happy in her new environment, and her constant reference to how lovely the staff were and
how nothing was too much trouble was so reassuring to us as a family, and we were in no doubt that Nazareth House was the most suitable environment on the Wirral for our mum. Every need is catered for and the level of care was quickly demonstrated less than a week in when the staff were in contact about mums medication and organised a consultation with their local GP practice.
Having to put your mother into the care of others is such an ordeal but Nazareth House has such a lovely warm feel about it, and it's obvious as soon as you enter the premises and speak with the staff that your loved one will receive the best possible care. I cannot rate Nazareth House highly enough.
Reply from Sherrel Sacker, General Manager at Nazareth House - BirkenheadThank you so much for the kind review of our service. The team are dedicated and work hard to make the transition in to our care home as easy as possible.
We are so happy that your experience has been a positive one and, most of all your Mum is happy and settled which I hope has given you all peace of mind.

I couldn't have wished for such an attentive group of staff. I feel they have all got to know her well and her funny little ways and they make every effort to accommodate her.. they go to great lengths to entertain the residents by having little Parties with the staff and the residents dance together,
including some diverse music that everybody enjoys.
The building and the grounds are beautiful. The nuns are really friendly. The manager of the whole building is very understanding and professional.
I was doubtful and I felt very guilty putting my mum into residential care but it has surpassed all expectations and I truly have peace of mind knowing she is in such good hands.
Reply from Teresa Handford, General Manager at Nazareth House - CardiffThank you for the positive feedback. I will pass this on to the team as I know they all work hard and positive comments helps to keep their spirits up. As for 'Mum' we all appreciate her 'funny little ways' she has a sense of humour and makes us melt when she shows her soft side.

My Aunt spent her last four weeks in Nazareth house and you could not have asked for better care.
The manager and all the staff were kind helpful and reassuring.
I am not local so it was important for me to have regular update which they provided. Nothing was too much trouble. Messages from us
were relayed to my Aunt.
Her final two days were peaceful and prayerful. Just what she wanted.

Thank to to everyone involved.

I would not hesitate to recommend this home.

NAZARETH HOUSE.
From the moment we went to view the property/accommodation, it was clear that this is by far the nicest we had seen.
Upon entering the building ,for me you could already see the place was extremely clean.
The staff and service user all seemed happy.
As far as my mom's care over the
two and a half years residence, Impeccable care was given to her.
Well appointed room, yes the building is quite old fashioned but boy do they make the best of it. Freshly decorated always.
In my opinion ,you will be hard pressed to better the care given here.
Clear communication with us if ever mom needed anything, medical or personal.
The menus are changed daily and displayed on tables, good choices all round.
well supervised activities for all residents
There is always something going on, whether light physical activity or singalong sessions with the wonderful performers they bring in.
I can not fault this establishment .
Thank you on mom's behalf.
Mrs.C.
Bless you all

My husband moved into Nazareth House on 23rd August 2023. Since then, there has been numerous changes to management and staff. He has always been happy and well looked after, which makes my decision to have him go into care a lot easier. I think that the management is now the best anyone would ask for.
If I have a problem, it is sorted out quickly and efficiently.

My mum passed away peacefully this weekend after spending over two and a half years at Nazareth House. Mum had advanced dementia and needed full nursing care to meet her needs. As a family we feel blessed that she was part of the community here during this time and we are so thankful for the kind, compassionate,
person centred care she received.

Mum was happy and content during her time at Nazareth House, she loved spending time in the large garden and taking part in the wide variety of activities that were organised. The staff are really friendly, considerate and treat the residents with dignity and respect. They got to know mum well during this time and as a family we felt a real bond with everyone. It was sad to say goodbye today because we felt so welcome and involved but we have many happy memories from mum's time here.

I would warmly recommend Nazareth House to anyone and want to express our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff team who make a real difference every day.

Reply from Teresa Handford, General Manager at Nazareth House - CardiffThank you for such a lovely warm review of the service. My father was in Nazareth House for 3 years. The staff gave the best care they could in the circumstances, given how short staffed they usually are. Staff turnover was an issue at the start but they now have a settled staff team. Staffing is still an issue at times, especially at weekends, fees have
increased a third in last 3 years. Clothes which were all labelled, often went missing in the laundry. It was sometimes hard to get pads for my dad, which he has on prescription. The activities are excellent.

Overall the experience has been very positive. The staff are very friendly and work with the residents to ensure they are comfortable and get the most out of their home at Nazareth House. The activities are fun but also beneficial for wellbeing and exercise. It would be good to see more activities over
a weekend but appreciated there are not so many staff on duty. Would be happy to recommend Nazareth House to others.
Reply from Teresa Handford, General Manager at Nazareth House - CardiffThank you for your positive comments they are much appreciated . Staff will be informed, as this often reinforces what a marvellous job they do each day. The activities on weekends are often group events - music, dancing and socialising as quite a few residents have visitors, famil & friends over the weekends. We try to assist with visits if required.

My wife has been resident at Nazareth House for more than two and a half years now. She has advanced dementia and needs full-time residential care.
She has been very comfortable and well cared for. The staff are genuinely caring and the nursing home is well managed. Communications with the staff have
always been good.
She enjoys taking part in the activities that are organised for the residents.
Her particular pleasure is spending time in the beautiful, large garden. Even on the days when she is struggling more than usual, she always perks up when I take her into the garden in her wheelchair.
Her room is not big, but is very adequate for her needs. She doesn't spend a lot of the daytime in her room.
My wife is very content at Nazareth House and I can't imagine a better place for her, under the circumstances.

My Aunt became a resident at Nazareth House recently and my wife and I are delighted with the care she is receiving. Our Aunt was really struggling to cope on her own at home and that challenge manifested itself in her increasing poor wellbeing She is so much happier now at Nazareth House. The wrap

My mother was only with Nazareth House for a month, but I have to say she was looked after. All staff are so attentive, and nothing seems to trouble them. Mum was deteriorating at a rate and we couldn't leave her at home and after being offered a place here for her we reluctantly placed her here. We
made a good choice, it is warm, cosy and comfortable and feels homely and they look after your loved one. The staff interact and do all sorts of activities although as mum got worse, she wasn't able to participate. Thoroughly recommend this care home.

It's a pleasure to complete this review, relating to the care my wife has received at this home for nearly two years. She has advanced Alzheimer's dementia and cannot talk, walk, or feed herself. She is also doubly incontinent. Nowhere is perfect, but I regard the manner in which she is cared for as
a real blessing - and relief! The manager, visiting GP, nurses, carers, and support staff are such an encouragement. Many go the extra mile, as they see or anticipate my wife's immediate or long-term needs. This is so crucial, because she cannot communicate normally. The Sisters of Nazareth support the staff by displaying loving - and sometimes practical - concern. This greatly enhances the holistic nature of the caring experience at Nazareth House.
The well cared for garden area is a tranquil oasis, giving us - and many others - a breath of fresh air in more ways than one!
Reply from Teresa Handford, General Manager at Nazareth House - CardiffThe team would like to thank you for the positive review , your comments are deeply valued and will be fed back to all staff. It is pleasure to care for your wife and we enjoy your visits.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Whenever I enter Nazareth House I am amazed by the helpful and pleasant staff members. Whether its the cleaners or medical staff they are always happy to answer any questions and have a chat. The home is always very clean. My sister in law loves all the activities that are put on. She has lots of visitors
and everyone always says what a wonderful place it is. It is also a very safe place and I am very happy that she is there.
