Staff always friendly and helpful. Always willing to update on Dad's health and wellbing. Dad has settled in well despite his very limited hearing, which he finds difficult. Management and administration staff always happy to assist with any on-site difficulties.

My husband moved into Nazareth House on 23rd August 2023. Since then, there has been numerous changes to management and staff. He has always been happy and well looked after, which makes my decision to have him go into care a lot easier. I think that the management is now the best anyone would ask for.
If I have a problem, it is sorted out quickly and efficiently.

My mum has been resident in Nazareth House Bonnyrigg for 4 weeks and I have been hugely impressed with the level of care and activities provided for her. I was worried how my mum would settle in the care home, but she is happy and seems to be thriving in the environment. I have access to the app and
there are regular posts showing what my mum has been doing and helps showcase the activities she has been taking part in.

Nazareth House is situated in beautiful grounds. Nazareth House is a lovely care home with a peaceful atmosphere. The staff are always pleasant and helpful.
The management are commited to doing their best for my resident friend to make her feel valued and happy. Visitors are made welcome.
There is
also the little chapel where one can feel peaceful and the the local cafe for one-to-one visits.

I have lived in Penicuik for all my life, I was a council tenant. I hear that a family with children are in my house now. I love my flat but should my mobility problems get worse, I would have no problem about a move to Nazareth House. I was very happy with the staff and the room my friend has. My young
carer and I were very impressed when we visited my friend.

My dad fell ill last weekend, the duty senior acted swiftly to get him seen to and would like to extend my thanks on behalf of my family.
I would also extend my thanks to the carer who went with Dad to the A&E and stayed with him till we got to the hospital. I visited Dad today and he is a lot better
due to their reactions and care.
Thank you again.

Both my parents were submitted into the home, one just before Christmas and the other in January when released from hospital.
I live in Cape Town, South Africa and came over in January to clear their flat and see them settled. The staff were amazing in their efforts to make them feel they were home
and safe. They are sharing a room together. I believe it's a first for the home. This was very important for me, and my parents. They set up pictures from their flat to help them feel more at home.
Over the two weeks I was there, my parents slowly settled in and by the time I left, they were very acceptant of the move. They liked the meals, and the friendliness of the staff and felt safe.
Having spent the two weeks visiting every day, I returned to Cape Town feeling comfortable that my parents were in a good place and very comfortable with the staff, having established a good relationship with them, from management to the workers.
Reply from michael jones, Regional Manager at Nazareth House - BonnyriggThank you very much for your kind words. Your parents have settled in to the house well. All the staff are working together with your parents to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Came here to this nursing home from Ireland to see my mother-in-law last weekend and I was very impressed with how homely and friendly the staff were. The rooms were spotless, when we arrived we were offered tea or coffee which was nice. My mother-in-law showed us around the bedroom etc I could see
she was happy out chatting away to staff and myself and her son. The guy, (didn’t catch his name) who showed us a room to sit and chat and brought us tea and biscuits was so nice and helpful. We left to return home to Ireland knowing that she was being well taken care of. We will return again soon.

Visited my grandad at Nazareth House for the 1st time today. I am so relieved as I was worried. It is a lovely home. The care is of a high standard and residents are treated so well. Staff are lovely to talk to and work very hard. The home has a homely feel and very clean too. Most importantly
my grandad loves it there and is so much healthier.

From the minute my wife and I walked in Nazareth House - Mid Lothian, we knew it was a special place. Soft and homely furnishings, wonderful staff, very neat, clean and welcoming. My mother has been a resident since December 2019 and we are grateful for the kindness and consideration taken with her
care. Within our community, we often hear the same glowing reviews of others that also have family members as residents at Nazareth House. Thank you to all the staff, we appreciate everything you do.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.645)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.645) out of 10 for Nazareth House - Bonnyrigg is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.729 for Nazareth House - Bonnyrigg is calculated as follows: ( (37 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.729
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.916 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Nazareth House - Bonnyrigg is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.4 = 0.541
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
