The staff are what makes this place special. We cannot thank them enough - Lubna, Natalie, Chandni, Sabin and many others - for the compassionate care they show our Mum, really taking the time to listen to her. She enjoys her meals and all the activities offered. The garden is lovely now that its been
refurbished.

Woodlands care home is not a care home, It's a home that cares. It is more like a hotel that cares. I thought we would have problems with Mum & her new environment. The reverse was the case. Mum has settled in very well. The whole process & the paperwork getting Mum in as a resident was incredibly easy
& not very stressful. All the staff are extremely friendly and caring. The management team take time to explain processes. I can visit Mum whenever I like (apart from meal times as this can upset residents). On quite a few visits I have found Mum enjoying the activities. The building itself has recently been renovated to an extremely high standard. It really is like a hotel with plush furnishings and high end fixtures. The new area is breathtaking and I look forward to sitting down with Mum over a cup of coffee and a biscuit. The garden has a manicured lawn, plenty of seating, beautiful plants including ornamental cabbage with stunning colours. Mum has settled in really well.

All staff at The Woodlands Care Home are kind, helpful, friendly, respectful, approachable and supportive, including the wonderful management team. The home has recently been renovated to a very high standard. It's comfortable, clean and modern. I visit my mum every week and I see how well the home
is being run, how hard the staff work in making sure all residents needs are being met. The Woodlands have activities planned every week for the residents and every Friday it's Pamper Day. Personally, I think every day is Pamper Day at The Woodlands! Mum is always saying how kind the staff are. She feels safe, comfortable and well cared for and she loves the food. I rate this care home highly..10/10

My dad needed to come for respite care as my mum could no longer cope. In the two weeks that he stayed there was a marked improvement in him which has continued since he has come come.
The food, activities are excellent and perfect for those with dementia. Staff are kind, respectful and understanding.
Ludma provided support to my dad that was truly exceptional as it went far beyond her job description. Dad from time to time asks when he can go back as he enjoyed it so much.
I highly recommend The Woodlands Care home for anyone with dementia. It is a joy to see such genuine care provided to the residents.

My Mum was beautifully looked after by Woodlands for a period of just over 2 years. The staff were really fantastic, so caring, loving and approachable. We were always made to feel so welcome when we visited and we could see from our regular visits how well Mum was being cared for. Staff were always
on hand to deal with any issues and kept us updated if there was ever a problem. The food for the residents is cooked on the premises and is of a very good standard. Activities are organised on a daily basis which helps to keep residents engaged and occupied. Overall we were so pleased to have had Mum cared for in Woodlands. We couldn't have wished for a better level of care throughout Mum's time at the Home.

In my experience even going through the now completed refurbishment I feel all the staff maintained a professional attitude going above and beyond ensuring all the residents needs were fully met and always put first. The staff are always friendly and supportive of all residents and their family members
and are readily available to answer any questions or concerns that may arise offering resolutions and reassurance.

We had a meeting with Mr Campbell so caring and reassuring to us, all our questions and anxieties were answered my mum moved in 0ctober 2022 to a room with a normal bed, giving her the feeling of being at home and not care surroundings. Since then, she has improved with good home cooked food, good company
and great care. Staff are very constant more like family and friends than carers, so they know the residents, the needs of the residents and are familiar to the relatives. she is well cared for and so is the family when we visit staff are always happy, polite with the kettle on. Lots of interaction even I join in the bingo. I'm now her son and she's my mum again. I now live on the south coast 2 hours away but with the care woodlands staff give my mum I have no intention of moving her close to me as I feel I wouldn't get the same care and facility. Woodlands is a great care home with great staff, the new building is great very modern, bright and secure. Thank you to everyone.

Residents are treated with dignity and respect within a homely environment. There are lots of activities to keep residents from becoming bored.
I feel there is good communication between staff, service users and relatives. I never feel that staff are too busy to talk to me.
Residents are properly
dressed and well groomed.
The care staff are genuinely caring and lovely. A real support when my relative arrived at the home.

An outstanding care home. My father was there only a short while but the care and support we received were to the highest level. Every day we were greeted with an update on how Dad was during the night and his morning routine. We were kept informed every step of the way. His personal hygiene was attended
to with respect and dignity. My mother was looked after when visiting my father. I can’t fault this team of carers and management. I would absolutely recommend this care home. I would like to thank you all at The Woodlands Care Home for everything you did to keep my father comfortable.

Situated within walking distance of two stations and on a bus route with some visitor parking. A cheerful, bright and welcoming atmosphere with caring and helpful staff creates a comfortable and home-like environment with activities in the lounge. Before Covid, visits from outside agencies were made.
A lovely accessible garden and delicious home-cooked food/meals completes the tour.

My mother was in the hospital during this period and they were a great support to me. My mother wasn't treated very well in the hospital and the care home was very good in getting her out of the hospital, returning her to the home and giving her the love and care she needed to help her health improve.
They are still doing all they can.

My mum recently passed away at Woodlands Care Home. I cannot thank all the staff enough for their love, care and support of Mum during her time living here, but also in her final weeks. The dignity and compassion shown to Mum and our family at such a difficult time were excellent. Mum felt part of the
Woodlands family and so did we. I am forever grateful for the wonderful care that Woodlands and all the team provide as a care home for dementia patients.

My father already attended the Day Care Centre with much enjoyment, so when my mother was hospitalised, it was natural to place him in the Care Home as he could not live at home alone. The transition was seamless and it quickly became obvious that he was thriving in the lively atmosphere. The time sourcing
a permanent home via LBH was stressful but I was never concerned for my father's well being or safety. The care staff were just that, kind and caring, carrying on with his planned birthday party. The office staff deserve a special mention, as they were unfailingly kind to me and so helpful in extending his stay when it proved tricky to find a space in a home, in these difficult times. They sent me a photo of his room as I couldn't go in. Every member of staff I spoke to, obviously knew my father as a person, not just a name. The manager also went above and beyond, always having time to help me with advice. I would recommend Woodlands Care Home and the Day Centre, without hesitation.

Woodlands have been taking the best care of my mum since Feb 2018. Mum always looks well-groomed and has a happy disposition, she enjoys a laugh and a joke with the staff who have a genuine rapport with her. The staff are very welcoming and put me at ease when I phone or visit, they are very reassuring
if I have any concerns about mum. I feel the home go above and beyond in their effects to ensure the residents lead fulfilling lives.

My father has been a resident at Woodlands Care Home for 3 and a half years.
My family could not have wished for better care than Woodlands has to offer for him.
All his needs are cared for as he suffers from dementia and is very elderly.
The staff and the management teams are lovely, friendly and
efficient in all they do.
I would not hesitate to recommend Woodlands should anybody ask for my advice.

Our family cannot fault the care our mum receives at Woodlands. The staff are always welcoming to visitors and show respect and warmth to all the residents. We are kept informed by newsletter of mum's forthcoming social activities and, prior to the pandemic, encouraged to join in with as many as we
can. We have nothing but admiration for the way the management and staff coped during lockdown, going above and beyond to ensure that every resident was kept safe and well.

All the staff, without exception,, are welcoming, caring and warm. My mother was welcomed into the home in November 2016. She suffered with Alzheimer's and needed caring, secure accommodation and this care home was able to give this to my Mum. They were excellent in keeping me informed on her health
and I could see that she was settled and happy to stay there. My Mum died 2 months ago and the support we were given was second to none. They made us feel like we were part of a big family. Thank you. I will continue to visit the home.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.652)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.652) out of 10 for Woodlands Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.952 for Woodlands Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.952
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodlands Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 19 registered maximum number of service users is 3.8, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Proprietor/Registered Manager Joined: 2000

Woodlands Care home is a family-run business, in which I joined over 25 years ago and became Registered Manager in the year 2000. As my mother owned care homes, I spent my childhood in such environments, so I have spent more than 40 years fostering a passion to care for the elderly.

I completed my Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care, and hold an NVQ in Business and Finance. This has held me in really good stead to nurture and grow the business to what it is today.

My proudest moment in care has come recently, having fully refurbished the care home. The renovation has been purpose-built for elderly residents with varying needs and furnished to a very high standard.
