  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Little Oaks Residential Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.821 for Little Oaks Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (130 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 156 Ratings = 4.821

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.714 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Oaks Residential Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 7 positive Reviews (35 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 5 Reviews ÷ 7 Target = 0.714

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

I cannot praise Little Oaks and it's management and staff highly enough. My dad stayed for respite for 2 weeks. The manager spent considerable time on a home visit to ensure his care plan was totally complete and accurate. I was asked to agree and sign the care plan once presented and reading it highlighted the deep understanding of my dad's condition. Excellent communication throughout. Staff treated my dad as an individual and they took time to really get to know him. He was treated with the utmost dignity and respect. His complex medication routine was followed exactly. We all felt very safe as a family and reassured that dad would be well cared for. He had varied choices at mealtimes and with activities. Food was excellent and there was always something organised for dad to do if he wished. Being Christmas, there were wonderful events organised which the family could be involved in. It has a warm feeling of one big family and dad has already asked to visit again! Thank you.

Mum has been living at Little Oaks for nearly four months, following a fall at the beginning of the year, which resulted in a broken hip and a hospital stay. Unfortunately, mum's mobility is now poor and her confidence is badly affected. We chose Little Oaks for mum to live because of the wonderful homely feel that you get as soon as you walk through the door. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They are all so patient, friendly and cheerful, which helps mum to feel happy, safe and secure - which is really important to us. It takes the worry off our shoulders. It is comforting to know that there is always somebody there for mum when she needs them.

We had our mum staying there after a major heart operation. The care provided by the staff and the management was nothing less than 5 stars. They made our mum part of their family and met all her needs. Their standard was excellent and nothing was too much. On behalf of my brothers and sisters, I would like to thank the management and staff for the excellent care provided.

My Mum was a resident here for over two years. I chose this particular residential home over all the others I had viewed because it felt more like a real home than an institution.
All the bedrooms are beautifully decorated with lovely personal touches to make it feel welcoming, lovely individual quilts, furniture like you may have in your own home. The sitting, dining and day rooms are all beautifully furnished with personal photos and ornaments. All these little touches set this home apart from many of the others.
The staff are always extremely hard working and genuinely like the residents in their care and treat them like they are family, nothing is ever too much. They spend time talking to the residents as well as caring for their individual person needs.
There are a good variety of daily activities available for those who want to join in and they produce some super craft work. They have some great day trips as well.
I cannot praise them enough for the care they always gave to Mum.

Little Oaks stood out from all the other care homes we viewed because it had such a warm, friendly atmosphere and because it was clear that residents were treated with the utmost respect.

We were really pleased with our choice. My mother, reluctant to leave her own home, was soon won over. She had her own pictures and furniture in her room - it was like home from home.

The staff were always attentive and considerate, even to visitors. We were always welcomed with a cup of tea and an update on the day's events.

The staff were also observant and understanding. As my mother grew less able, Little Oaks responded brilliantly, providing all the equipment and additional assistance which she needed.

We knew that she was safe and secure - expert care, 24 hours a day, with specialist services a phone call away.

It is difficult to praise the Home highly enough. They managed to make the final months of my mother's life not just comfortable but actually positively enjoyable and memorable.

Due to my poor health, I had to bring my mum closer to me. I looked at 8/9 homes before I found Little Oaks Residential Home. It is a warm, friendly, welcoming environment. My mum lost her speech and her mobility was poor and she would have been lost in a large, busy establishment. Little Oaks Residential Home is a small home with loyal, dedicated staff. They encouraged my mum to join in with activities. She went on many planned outings and enjoyed the lovely home cooked meals. I could visit her at any time and always felt comfortable. The lovely staff went out of their way to make her feel at home.

My mother chose to move to Little Oaks because of its family atmosphere, after a period at a more institutional home. Throughout the period of two and a half years for which she was resident, she benefitted from the safe and friendly atmosphere at Little Oaks which was created by good management and a consistent standard of staffing.

The size and family run nature of the home provide a secure and stable environment. Excellent management insures that the premises are spotlessly clean and that catering is appropriate. Most importantly residents are treated consistently and with an excellent level of responsiveness to individual needs.

My mother was treated with respect and dignity by the staff who made efforts to meet her increasing physical needs despite the additional time needed and to treat her as inclusively as possible. At the end of her life, attention to her care and hygiene were excellent and close family members felt very well supported.

My father went to Little Oaks for Respite care following radiotherapy treatment for lung cancer. He had never envisaged spending any time in a care home, but his condition meant he needed full time support at short notice. All the team of wonderful staff at Little Oaks could not have been more supportive to him and to us. Within a short time he felt comfortable, well cared for, and treated throughout with friendship and respect. The standard of care was exceptional and the support this gave us as a family at such a difficult time was invaluable. I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful care home to others.

My lovely Mum aged 94 years passed away after 15 months in Little Oaks Care Home, in High Wycombe, Bucks. She was as happy as she could be in her declining condition. All the Carers were kind, caring and looked after her with patience and understanding and were always cheerful, I honestly couldn't fault anyone!

The managers have a great team and it is a fantastic residential home that I would be happy to recommend to anyone.

My Father stayed here for just over a year; I visited a number of care homes before placing him in Little Oaks and this was by far the best one. The atmosphere in the home is more like someone's house than an institution. My father had a number of difficulties when he arrived, as many older people do and he was cared for extremely well, with dignity, until the end of his life.

The staff were superb; efficient and friendly. They were always there to help, day and night and I was able to visit at any time and take my children with me. They were able to manage any situation that arose and were happy to call the doctor and arrange hospital visits if necessary. I was able to go on holiday in the certain knowledge that my father was in safe hands.

I cannot recommend Little Oaks highly enough.

My mother went into Little Oaks in October 2014 and was there until she died in April 2015 last year. Although like a lot of elderly people she valued her independence and was not keen about going into a residential home, she became more and more frail at home and was getting to the point where she was really unable to cope even with carers. At that time I had an accident resulting in broken bones and was unable to drive the one hour journey to look after her.

My husband and I decided it would be best to move her nearer to us and we researched and visited a number of care homes in this area. From the first moment we entered Little Oaks we just knew this was the right place for my mum.

The owners were so friendly, professional, caring and approachable and nothing was ever too much trouble. They asked all about her likes and dislikes regarding food and and how she liked things to be done and adhered to these implicitly.

Their staff were simply amazing and the care and love they showed my mum was outstanding - from sitting and chatting with her, painting her nails or getting her many cups of her favourite milky coffee, nothing was ever too much trouble. The home is spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and always smells fresh. The food is second to none. They do have entertainment for the residents and the entertainment team lead by Georgina are great.

When my mum was taken ill at the end of her life, they looked after not only my mother but also myself and my family. They allowed me to use the room next door and stay there providing me with love, food and support for her last ten days and treated my mum with the utmost dignity.

I would thoroughly recommend Little Oaks to anybody in the same position as myself. Thank you to one and all for the love and care you showed her.

Monica Tillotson, Manager / Owner at Little Oaks Residential Home responded to this review on 25 Jan 2016:

Thank you.

Dad went to Little Oaks for respite care for 2 weeks but after a further month’s ‘trial’ agreed to stay as a resident. He had become somewhat isolated living with me and just slept for much of the day. He was unable to move around on his own and was very limited in what he could do. It was lovely to see his ‘sparkle’ return as he enjoyed the banter with staff and residents alike. His little dog was able to visit and did so most days which was lovely for him. The highlight of his summer was when residents were taken to Windsor Great Park for a splendid picnic to watch the Queen’s procession heading for the Ascot Races. A memorable day indeed. He was also taken to Henley with other residents for afternoon tea on a boat on the river Thames and at the end of the summer there was a tea party for all.
Little Oaks is a ‘home from home’ kept to a high standard of cleanliness and the carers are very caring. Sadly Dad’s poor health was deteriorating but the care and support given in his final days was second to none of which I shall always be grateful.
