Down Hall is wonderful home. Mum was a resident here for four and a half years until she passed away in January. Moving a loved one into a care home is one of the hardest decisions to make. After looking at many different care homes initially, Down Hall was the only one that I felt mum would be happy with and following an initial respite stay she didn't want to leave! Karen and the whole team are just so lovely and caring, an open door policy to the office as you walk in, you always feel welcome and comfortable to pop in with any questions and concerns or just for a chat. The home itself is truly a hidden gem in a beautiful, peaceful setting and always spotless. Activities are mostly in the afternoons and lots of effort made on special occasions such as Mothers day lunch held in the dining room, easter egg hunts and Christmas celebrations. I would absolutely recommend Down Hall, and often think how lucky we were to have mum there and for the love and care by all of the amazing team.

Often when visiting the staff are sitting at the table writing reports etc. I appreciate that these need to be done, but can they be done in a staff room or something similar and whilst they are being completed a member of staff engages those residents who want to join in an activity. I understand that not all residents can respond to interaction but those that do seem to be left, I can only comment on the mornings as that is when I visit. It's not a criticism just a suggestion.
Also food is often on top of the microwave, don't know how long it's been there. Not all staff seem as caring as other staff.

Downhall residential home is a home from home experience. My Mum was resident for over 3 years after diagnosis of Altzeimers dementia and was clearly cared for and loved by all the staff on the dementia unit. Staff were all very friendly, they also cared about me and how I was coping with this horrid disease. It is set in a lovely quiet location which was not far from my parents home. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a home from home, quiet but lively setting giving residents the best care for the last years of their lives.
Downhall staff are a cheerful.bunch who deeply care for the residents as family. There are lounges, function rooms, a library and a cinema in addition to resident TV in their private rooms. Residents can choose from the menus and opt to eat in the dining room if they wish.

Nothing has been to much trouble from the day my dad was welcomed into Downhall and until this day he is very wellCared for.
Everything is kept very clean and residents are truly well cared for.
Food is nutritional and since dad has been there he has put on weight which is a good thing and Dad is always offered more food including puddings which he loves.
Always a calm environment and you can visit loved ones whenever and also take loved ones out if you wish. I have been to the home allHours and always welcomed there is nothing bad to hide here it really is a nice safe environment for those that need to be cared for.
If anyone is thinking of considering Downhall I would most definitely recommend the care is exceptional residents are treated with dignity respect and care.
I thank everyone of the staff for your kindness and support.

I have nothing but positive praise for Down Hall Residential Home, the staff and the exceptionally amazing carers. It takes someone quite remarkable to be able to do this mentally and physically demanding role and their support during some difficult times has been outstanding and I shall be forever grateful. Placing a loved one in care is an incredibly hard decision to make but I have no regrets. My loved one is safe and whilst their health will not improve it has been stable due to their care and understanding of dementia. I would without hesitation recommend this residential home.
Thank you for taking the time and reviewing Down Hall. The entire team really appreciate your positive comments and it means a lot to each and every one of the team.

The home keeps us informed of any problems with the person who is there. It is kept clean as is our relative, the food is always plentiful and adequate for her needs. Her clothes are changed daily and washed and replenished quickly. The staff are caring, responsive and cheerful and make for an extremely overall pleasant atmosphere. Her medical needs are well-catered for. A hairdresser attends as does a chiropodist to ensure she always looks her best. There are no restrictions on visits l have visited at various times during the day and have had reason whatsoever to question what is happening at the home to my relative or other persons resident there.
Dear Brian, thank you for taking the time to review Down Hall. The entire team here appreciate your positive comments. Kindest regards.

My mother has been a resident of this facility since August, the times of lockdown restrictions have made this hard for us all but I must say mum has had the best of care. There have been some difficult times with mum's health etc but I have always considered mum to be in the best place. I could not wish for mum to be in a better place than this. It is a quite simple fact that care comes to mind little things matter and the staff all seem to care for mum as if she was their family as well. Also, they all seem to have time for myself or my siblings phoning and talking about mum as if she were their only concern, the time on relatives is a great comfort and the care for mum is second to none,

My husband went to Down Hall on respite for a week. The manager and her team made myself and my husband feel at home. I was very anxious about leaving him but I was reassured by the manager. I felt very comfortable about leaving him.

As my mother was an occupational therapist by profession she has strong views on care homes and caring for the elderly. Having been to Down Hall when an elderly aunt was a resident, this was the only place she would consider for herself and my dad. The clean fresh air about the place, along with the friendly caring staff, make it a home from home. We have family gatherings in the function room where the children can spill out into the garden. Daily care and cleanliness are all covered in an efficient manner. I feel I am able to discuss any problems or queries I may have with the manager and her staff at any time.
My father has been a resident at Down Hall for approximately 2 years. The home is always clean and the staff are extremely helpful and kind. The staff put on many activities which residents can choose to take part in if they wish. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to others.

Very happy with my mother's care. She has all of her personal belongings in her room so she feels at home. All of the staff are lovely to Mum and treat her with dignity.

Mum was here for approximately 4 years. My family were worried about her being in a care home. We should not have worried. Once in her room, surrounded by her belongings, she was content. In no time this became her home. The staff could not have been kinder and more caring.

I have been more than pleased with the care and kindness shown to my father and note that I see the same care shown to all residents.
