Over all time Dudbrook House has 40 reviews.
I submitted a review previously but was surprised to see it had only 4 stars on my overall experience. I must have hit the wrong button by mistake on the food review. Please note that Dudbrook house deserves nothing less than 5 stars, it's an absolutely fantastic place and I can't praise and recommend it enough.
Thankyou so much Clair for taking the time to complete our review. It means so much to know that you are happy with everything and will let all the staff teams know. thankyou again
The wonderful support and care that my sister has received since October 2025 has been tremendous. Everyone from Housekeeping to Management is so kind. Nothing is too much trouble. I visit regularly and feel that if I have any concerns they are listened to and acted upon. There is a sense of calm about Dudbrook. It is difficult to describe. The interaction between staff and residents is always one of respect, patience and love. I will be forever grateful to Dudbrook House for the peace and comfort that it has brought to us as a family. The care that my sister is receiving is the best that we could have hoped for.
We are very proud of all our staff and the environment we work in, it is important to us that families become part of our extended 'family' and it is lovely to see how your sister is happy, content and thriving.
Thank you once again
Dudbrook House has been amazing since my nan moved in for recovery care, which has since turned into permanent residence as she loves being there so much. From the very beginning, the staff have shown genuine kindness, patience, and respect toward her, which has made a world of difference during what could have been a difficult transition.
The carers are attentive and take the time to get to know each resident personally, which really shows in the way they interact with my nan. It's comforting to know that she is in safe hands.
The home is clean, well-maintained, and has a calm, welcoming atmosphere. There are so many activities that help keep residents engaged, and it's clear that their wellbeing-both physical and emotional-is a priority.
Knowing my nan is comfortable &cared for gives us as a family such peace of mind. I couldn't recommend enough
Thank you so much for this lovely review, it is a pleasure to care for your Nan as well as all the other residents. We are very lucky to have such an excellent team working here at Dudbrook House, they go above and beyond to make the residents happy and content. We will pass these lovely comments onto our staff.

Staff go the extra mile as a matter of course.Every resident is treated with dignity, patience, and respect.
A stand out for me is the way the staff genuinely engage with residents. They are always fully present with them and build warm relationships that mean so much to them. Their genuine compassion creates a family-like atmosphere and makes Dudbrook an extra special place. This was my first impression and remains the same 17 months later.Thank you very much Team Dudbrook, you are simply the best. An inspiration to so many.

From the moment she arrived, the care, kindness, and genuine compassion shown by the staff have been outstanding. Every member of the team goes above and beyond to make residents feel safe, comfortable, and truly cared for. The management are equally wonderful - approachable, professional, and clearly passionate about maintaining such a high standard of care.
It's never an easy decision placing a loved one into care, but Dudbrook House has given us complete peace of mind. Knowing she's surrounded by such attentive, friendly, and dedicated people means everything to our family.
We can't thank the staff and management enough for everything they've done. Truly the best care home we could have hoped for.

Choosing a care home for a much-loved parent is never easy. It's a daunting and emotional decision; you want their needs and wishes met, while also ensuring they'll be happy, safe, and well cared for. There are so many factors to consider, the feel of the home and its people make all the difference. From the moment I walked into Dudbrook House, I knew it was right for my mum. There was a warmth and vibrancy that stood out not just in the surroundings, but in the staff too. Dudbrook House goes above and beyond for residents and families. They're inclusive, welcoming, and foster a real sense of community. There's always something happening: activities, events, and enrichment that bring genuine joy. What meant the most to me was the personal attention. The staff are not only professional and attentive, but they take the time to truly know the residents and their families. In the 2.5 years my mum lived there, I had peace of mind knowing she was respected, valued, and truly cared for.
It is really important for us to know that families feel confident leaving their loved ones in our care.
We are very proud of our staff teams, outside professionals who support us...
My mum very reluctantly went into Dudbrook for respite care in November 2024. This was a heart wrenching decision but we knew my mum needed expert care. This has been the absolute making of my mum. The loving kindness she receives is second to none. Each and every staff member is exceptional. She is fitter, happier, healthier and feels very safe. The accommodation is wonderful, hygiene impeccable, entertainment great and above all the staff genuinely care. We are so very, very grateful to everyone who makes Dudbrook such a special place. Thank you

This is my sister is at Dudbrook House. Started in the old building then in October 2024 moved to the new Dudbrooke House. Dudbrooke House is a delightful place of place of peace, care and friendly support to my sister. The facilities are excellent the staff just fantastic! My wife and I plus my family all agree that this is a great place to be cared for. It has security and support from a marvellous caring company. It has that lovely homely feel about it. Lovely and clean tidy and without any smell. Cheerful and bright.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this lovely review for Dudbrook House, which will be shared with the Staff team. We are very proud of our new home and the care and facilities we offer our residents. Reviews are important for us and also for families who are looking at care facilities for loved ones. Thank you once again.
My mother in law was in Dudbrook Hall originally and moved into the new Dudbrook house when it was finished. The old building was very tired but the staff were lovely so that sold it to us. The new Dudbrook house was built specifically for the residents needs and is beautiful. We always have a lovely welcome from all the staff and know that my mother in law is being well looked after. There is always activities going on, although my mother in law isn't able to join in with most of those now. We are glad with our care home choice, which was a recommendation to us and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.
Thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review which will be shared with the staff team. We are very proud of both our staff and our new home. More importantly we pleased that you are confident that your loved one is content and being well looked after. Thank you once again.
With only a thousand characters it's impossible to sum up how superb Dudbrook House is, and my mother and I have nothing but praise and admiration for all of the staff here. My father was diagnosed with dementia 8 years ago and with its gradual progression my family knew we would have no choice this year but to source a care home for my dad. From my first telephone conversation with the manager of 26 years, I already had a good vibe. Dudbrook House is a newly purpose-built building in a lovely forest location that is well laid out and offers everything that my dad needs and more. It is always nice to enter a bright fresh building, not one of the seven care homes we visited even came close to Dudbrooks hotel-like amenities. Each and every member of staff engages genuinely with you from the moment you are greeted at reception, every carer puts their heart and soul into the resident's wellbeing, and the management has also been so very kind and helpful to us, so thank you to all.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this lovely review for Dudbrook House. We are very proud of our Home and our staff, it is a pleasure to care for dad, to see how well he has settled and to know that his loved ones have confidence in us. We will share this review with all the staff who will be delighted with your comments. Thank you once again.
I cannot praise enough the care of the staff. Dad was with them from nearly able to cope independently when he would go out to jazz club and meet his brother-in-law for breakfast to completely dependent as his Alzheimers took over. They were always so kind to him and all of the residents and considerate and aware of his needs. As an ex-nurse in general practice for many years I have seen many care homes and this beats them all by miles. I cannot recommend them enough.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Dudbrook HouseWe will make sure it is shared with all the staff teams. It was a pleasure to look after Dad, we will remember him with great fondness. Reviews are very important, as they can help other families when faced with making the difficult decision of placing a loved one into a care home. Thank you once again for your kind words.
My wife was under the care of Dudbrook's sister home who we just can't praise enough for their care and compassion when we heard that Dudbrook, the new Dudbrook had vacancies.
My niece and I were bold over by the facilities on offer and the compassion of the staff and we were so happy to get him a placement.
He’s been there a couple of months and the change in him is just lovely to see, no longer stuck in his room he’s loving life being part of the Dudbrook family, it gives us, his family, so much joy to see him on social media having fun being stimulated and receiving wonderful care.
Thank you all the team at Dudbrook, we can’t praise you enough.
It has been a pleasure to see the transformation in your brother in a short space of time and watching him enjoy the new relationships he has built with staff and other residents.
Thank you once again.
My father moved a month ago to this care home from another home in Upminster Essex. The difference between the 2 is incredible! The staff are amazing and have made him feel really welcome. He settled in straight away and his comment to me was 'This is so much nicer than the last one' From my father this is high praise indeed. They have managed to get him to participate in most of the activities. He has been on trips to the theatre and had tea at a local stables and met the ponies. He has a beautiful room overlooking the stunning grounds, his view is lovely. The food is very nice and everyone from the lady at the front desk to the lovely Irish lady who cleans his room is kind helpful and empathetic. I am truly grateful that he lives in this lovely home and is looked after so well. Thank you all.
We are very proud of our new home, our staff and the relationships we build with our residents and their families.
Reviews can also help other families when faced with the difficult task of searching for a Care Home for their loved ones and we appreciate you taking the time to complete a review for Dudbrook House.
They have two wonderful care co-ordinator's, who arrange many different activities for the residents. They are both fantastic and spend lots of time with them all. My mum may have dementia but is very happy in Dudbrook, she loves the singing and the Thursday evening socials, and it's lovely to see her smile when I visit. Thank you to the owners of this amazing care home, the manager and deputy manager, plus all the fantastic team leaders, carers and everyone who works at Dudbrook House.
If anyone is looking for a care home for their loved one, Dudbrook House is the place.
Thank you for all your help, support and understanding. Will show your review to all the team at Dudbrook. Thank you.
My auntie has only been in Dudbrook Hall for just a few days but she could not have been made more welcome. Her circumstances changed from fully independent living in her own home to bed bound in a matter of days so this could have proved very emotional. However, this care facility is a really beautiful home full of character, smiles and genuine warmth and patience. Very quickly, I have met so many staff who have stopped and had a lovely conversation and been genuinely engaging and not too busy to spend time with me or my aunt. The Tribute Show the other afternoon was just such a nice event; respectful and gentle on the ears with the performer asking if everyone was happy with the volume right from the start. The staff really tried hard to involve everyone who wanted to be there and check if they were ok throughout. Well done team Dudbrook; your facilities are very unique and the hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We are so pleased that your family and your aunt are happy with her stay at Dudbrook Hall. We agree the staff team make us very unique & the amount of activities that they have on - we joke that the residents have a better social life than we...
Entertainment is always varied and is catered for each individual's needs which is relevant to my friend's needs as she is nonverbal but likes to participate in these activities.
My friend is always clean and very well looked after. Staff are always on hand to assist if she needs anything done and is always approachable any time of day.
We are very pleased that you are happy with the care provided at Dudbrook Hall.
We always aim to accommodate each resident's individual needs along with making the home a happy place for both residents and staff.
I will be sharing your review with all the team. Thank you once again.
Five months later and I couldn’t be happier with the care provided by Dudbrook. The home is always clean and accessible (which isn’t always the case with other care homes).
However, without a doubt, the best thing about this home is the wonderful staff. They are so attentive and caring but most of all they make what could be a difficult situation fun! This is not easy to do but clearly, the mantra of this wonderful place is, if the staff are happy there is a good chance the residents will be too! There is always a great buzz and music being played which is exactly how it should be!
Thanks so much for taking such good care of my dad!
Your dad loves his music and dancing definitely and we are proud to be a part of his journey.
I have always been adamant that my mum would never be put in a care home. But since the short time she has been in Dudbrook Hall I have completely changed my mind. The staff are all exceptional in every way. My mum is a changed person since being in Dudbrook Hall happy and smiling again and for me and my family, we couldn't ask for anything more. I thank you all so much.
We understand that making the decision to place a loved one into a care home is a very difficult one and are so pleased that you have witnessed a positive change in Mum, who has settled so...
The staff have not only looked after Mum brilliantly but also looked after our family throughout the transition period.
My mum is very happy and content - the feel of the home is very much that of being a home from home and Mum says the food is brilliant and loves that her little room is always spotless!
Medical issues have been dealt with quickly and professionally with the family being informed at all times and Mum's care needs have been listened to and adapted especially for her.
Everyone at Dudbrook works so hard (and always with a welcoming smile) to ensure that the residents are at the centre of everything and it's great to see the friendly, busy, and active community that Mum is now part of.
Thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review which will be shared with all the staff. We are very proud of our staff who treat all residents as if they were their own family and building relationships with family members and friends is an important part of our role here at Dudbrook Hall. It is a pleasure to look after mum and we are happy that you are happy.
My aunt was in Dudbrook Hall care home for approximately one year. She was looked after very well, even though she has difficult days. It was a pleasure visiting her in the conservatory - light and airy. Staff were always helpful. My aunt was mainly a resident during the lockdown. The staff were always contactable to ask how she was and also arranged FaceTime calls. Lovely home.
Thank you for your lovely comments, Helen. It was a pleasure to look after your aunt during very difficult times. Your comments will be passed on to all the team and will mean a lot. Thank you for taking the time to write the review.

Meet the Team (1)

Kerry Toulson manager of Dudbrook House Care Centre said: “I started as a carer at Dudbrook Hall in Feb 1998, Mrs Watson CEO took me under her wing and I was supported along the way with great training and support which then lead me to become the manager, can’t quite believe it has been that long, however I have enjoyed every min of it, caring for the elderly is all I love to do and St Michaels Homes allows me to concentrate on this important aspect of my career.” St Michaels Homes have always been very keen to invest in all its staff, and they have won awards for medium-sized employer by Cube in 2019 for their commitment to training staff to achieve all their goals & promote their own potential. Now the manager of Dudbrook House care centre.
Jo Moss, team leader, has worked at Dudbrook Hall and then at Dudbrook House for 24 years now and said“In my eyes, it is not just a job; the residents and staff are an extended part of my family. We are all there for each other all the time. St Michaels Homes are very dedicated to providing the very best of care to our residents and staff, and I would honestly never work anywhere else; they could not fire me if they tried lol.”
More than 55% of the staff at St Michaels Homes have worked at the homes for more than 5 years or more. Sean Watson, Director, said, “We are extremely proud of our teams and their dedication. The staff turnover rate for the adult residential care sector currently stands at around 27%, so to be celebrating 55% of our staff being here for more than five years is quite something.
Director Sean Watson believes it's down to treating all staff with the utmost respect; they are the heart & soul of our organisation, and they all make the difference for our residents' lives. During this pandemic, we are seeing who our true heroes are, and we are forever thankful for all they have done for us and, most importantly, our residents.
