Derriford House Reviews (18)

We went to a summer garden party for family and friends, it was very good and the food and entertainment was also very good. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. They held a raffle and the proceeds went to a local hospice, a very good local charity.
Thank you for your comments. I am delighted that you enjoyed it and we really appreciate your comments.
The home is beautiful and very well run. The staff are absolutely fantastic and my mum is very happy and well looked after. Plenty of activities and excellent food. Everyone in the home is so welcoming when I visit.
Thank you for your lovely comments, very much appreciated.
Everyone takes care and Mum really feels at home here. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a safe and reliable care home.
Thank you for your kind comments, they are very much appreciated.
Had a very lovely garden party today at Derriford House. Great company and music, with a local vintage vocal harmonies band. Food was amazing! Dad is looking very well and five years younger! Staff are very pleasant, accommodating and flexible. Our family is very happy with the organisation.
Thank you for your kind comments, they are very much appreciated.
When my mother first moved into the care home she was quite down. The care home improved her outlook and well being. The staff are friendly and helpful when I visit my mother. The care home have events for the residents.
Thank you for your kind words. We very much appreciate the feedback. It is our pleasure to care for mum.
Moving a loved one into a care home is never an easy decision to make. However, I knew from the moment I walked into Derriford House, this was where I wanted my mum to be. It has been her home now for 11 years, so need I say anymore. She is looked after extremely well and nothing is too much trouble. The food provided is of excellent quality and there is a wide variety of choice, everyday. She would not want to live anywhere else. Thank you for all you do for her.
Thank you for your kind words. The feedback is very much appreciated. It is a pleasure to care for Mum.
I have nothing but praise for the staff at Derriford House. The care and support they provide for both the residents and their families is exceptional. I always knew that my aunt was in safe hands and she enjoyed many happy years in a place that she very much considered to be her home.
Thank you for your kind words, they are very much appreciated.
The atmosphere, compassion and care are second to none.
In these difficult times of COVID especially, every member of staff have
given their all and every precaution has been taken to ensure everyone is
kept safe. It gives us peace of mind and confidence we made the right decision.
Derriford House staff have been caring for my mother regularly when my husband and I go away for a break for a couple of years. The team offer me peace of mind with the care and support they give. The staff are patient and understanding towards their residents which I know can be a challenge at times!
Thank you for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated.
Our family are very impressed with the care given to our mother who moved to Derriford House the week before lockdown in March. We have been able to keep in contact by telephone and although it has been so hard not to be able to be in the home to be with her, we know she is in safe hands. We thank all the staff for their hard work and care during these past difficult months and for helping Mum settle into her new home.
My mother is constantly talking about the amazing staff, from the housekeepers, domestic staff and carers. They have all been so kind during a very difficult time.
She absolutely loved the food and has very high praise for the chef and kitchen staff.
During isolation, she was able to sit outside in the gardens, which again are well maintained and cared for.
I would like to say a big thank you to the team.
Thank you for your kind words, we are delighted to have cared for her.
My mum has been a resident at Derriford House for almost five years. The staff and management really care and go the extra mile to make sure their residents are looked after and cared for like members of their own families. Freshly cooked food on a daily basis. I would not want my mum to be anywhere else.
Firstly I have to say that I have worked in a related profession, providing equipment support to the care home industry and can say that from my knowledge of residential care homes, this is by far the best that I have had an association with and was my first choice for respite care following my mum's discharge from hospital. As this also happened just prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, I was pleased that Mum had somewhere as safe as could be to stay. Suffice to say that Mum is still enjoying her time at Derriford and her walks around the gardens! The carers and management team have a good understanding of the individual needs of the residents and have undetermined resilience, with a keen eye on going above and beyond the stringent controls regarding the safety of the residents. There is a strong emphasis on keeping us all informed by way of weekly newsletters on the residents well being, the status of the home and even the beautiful gardens. Please do not overlook Derriford House!
Lovely care home, Aunt is very well looked after. She used to live on her own. She is a very private person and was quite lonely and depressed. She is very happy at Derriford and we are glad to have found such a friendly home for her.
The food is nutritious and delicious, Mum has always loved it. I too enjoy having lunch with Mum on my visits.
The garden looks lovely all year round and is a nice place to sit and relax.
The manager is at the end of the phone to let me know how Mum is doing and has set up Zoom, Skype video calls and more to help us keep in touch with our loved ones through the pandemic.
I would thoroughly recommend Derriford House, (it was actually recommended to us).
Dear Jane, thank you for taking the time to post your review. The past few months have been hard, but it's very good to know that you think we're doing a good job in these testing times. Also, I am very happy to know that you enjoy the food as well as your mum.
I can not praise and thank all the staff at Derriford House. They have gone out of their way to help my mother settle in. They are always kind, jolly and respectful, making time to have a chat and make her feel cared for. At this challenging time, it has been particularly reassuring to know she is safe and well looked after. Their care is impeccable.
Thank you for your review and the kind words about our staff and the care they provide to your mother. We shall pass this on to them as they will be delighted to hear the positive feedback. Many thanks once again.
They have a hairdresser visit on a regular basis; Mum has never been so pampered.
The food at Derriford House is outstanding; Mum certainly eats very well again, her needs are catered for without question.
The garden at Derriford House is one of Mum’s favourite pastimes beginning a keen gardener in the past; she enjoys the garden to wander or sit and enjoy.
Mum enjoys the entertainment laid on by the home, all special events are celebrated ie birthdays, Easter, Christmas, even VE Day and the yearly garden party is a firm favourite with residence family and staff all celebrate in style.
I recommend Derriford House, it has given us peace of mind knowing Mum is happy.
Dear Jane, thank you for your review, which means a lot to us at Derriford. I am glad to hear that your mum now eats better and that she can enjoy the gardens when the weather is nice.
I would strongly recommend Derriford if you are looking for a medium-sized residential home, which is very well run and has a family atmosphere. Both parents have been living there for 6-months and are very content.
Dear Ralph, thank you for taking the time to leave a lovely review. Very glad to hear your parents are happy here.
