My dad suffers with dementia and after 11 falls and not being able to give him the proper care he now needs we had to make the hard decision to put him in a care home. I have not come across one member of staff yet that doesn't love my dad. It's coming up for a year now since he's been there and he is so happy there. My dad has had a few medical issues relating to his heart but they all know exactly what to do and how to bring him safely through those episodes. The manager and all the staff are so supportive and accommodating to us as a family and after all the horror stories you hear about care homes this one is nothing like that. My dad had to go into respite before he went to Oakdene at an extremely expensive and all singing and dancing set up. The care was no where near what my dad gets here and I will forever be grateful for that peace of mind for the man who is and always will be my hero

It is always a very difficult decision to place a loved one in a care home. Upon walking through the front door and viewing Oakdene, we knew it was the perfect place for Dad. It is a home from home for him. Being severely sight impaired, hard of hearing as well as dementia, we were assured and pleased that all his needs were cared for. We cannot fault the staff at Oakdene. We visit often and notice all residents are well looked after, and we never hear any staff shouting; they are always jovial and considerate of residents. We are pleased to say Dad is happy there and entertained and fed well. Well done staff at Oakdene.

Mum has been at Oakdene for nearly 3 months and I am so glad that this is where she is. Mum has Alzheimer's which rapidly got worse after she contracted Covid in hospital after being admitted for diabetic complications. The staff at Oakdene are excellent not only in their practical caring of the residents but also in the way they take interest in every resident as an individual. The atmosphere in the home is more like an extended family and everyone is so friendly and helpful in all aspects of Mums care. I would recommend this home to anyone without hesitation.

It's a lovely home and Mum is happy but I will say two carers is not enough to cope with the amount of residents with challenging conditions.

Reply from Amyjane Smeeton, Care Manager at Oakdene

We have spoken to the relative regarding this perceived issue and assured her that we comply with all CQC guidelines and are never under staffed.

The staff are lovely and Mum has established a very good rapport with them. Her health and well-being have improved greatly since she has been at Oakdene. Lovely comfortable care home with a very homely atmosphere. We don't think we could have found anyone better.

Back in March this year the home owners and management took the decision to close all visitors from being able to visit and purchased plenty of PPE to cover for the coronavirus epidemic. Plus, not allowing hospital patients to enter the home, without being checked for COVID-19. To date, I am told that the home is virus-free and I must congratulate the management, owners, and staff by doing such a brilliant job as always.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Both my parents are at Oakdene and have settled well, homely and warming home, clean and tidy with a lovely garden to sit in.

If there are any problems the management and staff get these problems sorted quickly.

Both my parents reside at Oakdene. They are happy there, enjoying the varied meals, entertainment and staff. As a visitor, the staff always make me feel welcome and respond to any queries or concerns I may have. They were also a great support liaising with medical staff when my father was recently admitted to hospital.

Staff are very caring and build up a good rapport with all the residents. A friendly, homely atmosphere throughout the building.
Family and friends always made welcome when visiting.

A good standard of cleanliness throughout the home and personal care for residents. Catering also very good. I'm so pleased that my husband is being cared for in this care home, overall they have a high standard.

The owner, manager lives here which is good, has done for over 30 years. Plenty of public space and a nice garden to sit in the sun, she is very fussy who she employs. I think people should come and stay, try it out if you are giving up your home as I did.

I have been happy with the care, support and friendliness of the staff to my sister and others and their families visiting. The food and facilities are very good and there's a lovely garden to sit in, weather permitting! The staff work exceptionally hard to maintain these standards and I feel are slightly overstretched at times.

I am very happy with the care she is receiving.
They have made mum very welcome and she is enjoying having lots of company.
There is always some type of activity going on.

I can relax and know she is in good hands.

My mother has been very happy here since she arrived 3 weeks ago. The staff are all very caring and take the time to make sure all the resident's needs are met. She enjoys the food and drink and has made friends. The staff all seem happy so that filters through to my mother and she loves to have a chat with them all. I was wary of putting my mother in a care home but I'm glad I did.

After visiting other care homes in the area, I found that Oakdene best suited my fathers needs. On my unannounced first visit, I was impressed by the homely atmosphere and the welcome given by staff. This has been subsequently confirmed as my father has been resident for a year and the level of care has been excellent.
The staff are caring, kind and professional. Any concerns I have had have been listened to and acted upon promptly and efficiently. My father enjoys his food, which is varied, nourishing and home cooked. He is encouraged to take part in the varied frequent activities available.
The garden room with access to a secure large, well maintained garden where residents can enjoy the outdoors is a very worthwhile facility.

My overall impression of Oakdene is a homely, clean and caring environment with outstanding staff.
