Strathmore Lodge is an amazing care home, it is like walking into a large house. The staff are so supportive and caring for my Mum, they know her so well. The staff are regular, consistent staff and this makes a huge difference.
The staff and management team are very approachable, friendly and helpful to family members.
Communication is very good, families are kept up to date, each resident has a messaging app group for their family.
They help to get family members ready to go out with family or for appointments.
Bedrooms are very pleasant and well maintained and can be filled with personal items.

There is a lovely garden at Strathmore Lodge which they use regularly. They run a variety of activities in-house and have many visitors including musicians, dogs, birds of prey, nursery and school children.

My Aunt has been living here for some years during which time I have been very impressed with the quality of care and compassion that the staff and management provide.
Auntie is treated with kindness and dignity, and I could not be happier with her being at Strathmore Lodge.
She recently benefitted from a trip with a carer into the town, and round the Abbey (her childhood haunts) followed with a slap up pub lunch - fantastic!
All the staff, without exception, take an interest in the care for all the residents at all times, which makes for a uniquely 'home like' family feel which is wonderful to experience.
We also moved Mum here from another local care home six months ago, and she hasn't looked back.
The staff here have all been so supportive and encouraging, and she has slowly become more involved, getting out of her room frequently to participate in activities like quizzes or art or poetry. We have seen a really positive change in her.
The food is great and they really cater to individual tastes and needs which is great too.

I can honestly say that all the staff display a really high quality level of care and compassion which is incredible to see and experience , and such a stark contrast to her previous residence. There is a real family feel here which is lovely to experience.

Strathmore was home for mum for a few years and in that time there was nothing but love, care and understanding from everyone. It felt like a family and we became part of that family. Perfect care, lovely food, great entertainment for the residents and run by truly magnificent people. Could not have wished for more.

An exceptional care home with a wonderfully warm, homely environment. The staff are amazing and keep our family updated constantly via a messaging app group, always putting my grandma's welfare first. Gran is kept stimulated with daily activities like quizzes and flower arranging, and she tells us how much she enjoys being looked after here. I love the thoughtful details, such as the on-site hairdresser setting her rollers and she loves spending sunny days in the beautiful garden. We couldn't ask for a better place for her.

I think Strathmore Lodge and all the staff who work there are wonderful . Everyone is friendly, kind and nothing is too much trouble.
My mother came from a different home which wasn't acceptable for many reasons.
She is is now encouraged to join the other residents for meals and all the many activities that are provided.
In the other home I wouldn't have eaten the food if you paid me. Strathmore Lodge meals I would pay to have!!
The atmosphere is fun, lighthearted and quirky, clean and well looked after. The garden is beautiful and a pleasure to look at sit in... which is encouraged too.

Thank you Jason, Stella and all the staff !

Hi my mother has been staying in Stathmore lodge care home for around 6 months now. I chose it because it looked small and friendly and had its own staff. ( not agency )
Mum always said she didn't want to go into a care home but she agreed to a respite visit of two weeks. After a week , she said she was willing to stay. It is the most homely place!

I have always found the staff very professional and they look after all my mum's needs very well. I am an ex nurse so I can tell . If I highlight an issue they deal with it straight away and let me know if they have any concerns .

It is a small and friendly home with regular long term staff, which makes such a difference to the quality and continuity of care my mum receives. The staff are all lovely and friendly try to encourage all residents to join in the daily activities . Mum is always clean and well presented . She enjoys the food and can have a glass of wine with her meal . She now sees it as her home. Thank you Strathmore !!

A warm and friendly team of staff run the Strathmore Lodge Care Home with compassion and sensitivity to the residents and wider family.

I find great comfort knowing my mother is looked after so well in such a wonderful environment. The lifestyle she had grown used to in the last decade, when she was in her own home, has effectively been maintained and her social interactions effectively and positively improved. There are activities and opportunities to make use of the facilities, that my mother chooses not to always engage with, but are a genuine choice. This is a care home run foremost as a genuine home, with the occupants at its heart. Thank you to all the staff and managers at the home at every level for their wonderful work.

Very warm and welcoming. Excellent care of patients. My friend always said she was well.looked after. Able to choose her menu. Lots of lovely visiting activities. As my friend had relatives from Germany the care home arranged a very touching memorial service. Visitors made welcome and always given tea and biscuits, which pleased my friend. When she was having a bout of depression they arranged for me to have lunch with her and laid it out in the garden like a proper testaurant. Everywhere clean and comfortable. Her clothes always clean. Very impressed

Mum thoroughly enjoyed her time at Strathmore Lodge it really is an excellent home, we really couldn't ask for anything more. The staff are considerate, caring and friendly, looking after the residents, making sure that they are treated with dignity and respect, allowing them to feel completely at home. Communication from the staff as well as other staff members is great, via personal and group messaging, nothing is too much trouble for them.
We were always warmly welcomed when we visited, turning up unannounced was never a problem, especially as in later years as we travelled from over 200 miles away to visit her.
Sadly Mum recently passed away and the staff showed enormous care and compassion to us which was greatly appreciated at such a sad time.

Thank you again to all at Strathmore Lodge for the years of care and friendship you gave to Mum.

Strathmore Lodge provides an excellent level of service and care. The manager and another staff member take a close interest in residents, staff and visitors and have built a very welcoming culture that goes out of its way to provide a happy and relaxed atmosphere. The staff treat the residents with care and dignity, and regular events and activities are arranged for them. The food is very good and tailored to meet the needs of each of the residents. My mother has been a happy resident for coming up to three years, and she loves the regular activities, as well as the opportunity to get out in the beautiful garden when the weather permits. My mother could not be happier, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Strathmore Lodge.

We were making difficult decisions about long term care for my mother and what was right for her. Strathmore Lodge was highly recommended by friends whose mother was already a resident. We visited a number of care homes around St Albans. Most were larger and felt like a cross between a hotel and a hospital. Strathmore Lodge felt less clinical and more homely. The staff are all very friendly, caring and considerate and conscientious. The manager is always responsive and approachable and does what he says. I thought it was going to be difficult with my mother in a care home and would always question whether it is the right thing, but have realised that being in a caring home like Strathmore Lodge it is the best thing in the circumstances. She is well looked after and cared for. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. Strathmore Lodge has a regular nurse visit, and doctor when needed, from the nearby surgery, which has been good and reassuring to know.

Our mum has been living at Strathmore Lodge for some years now and is very much at home. Over those years she has met some lovely new friends and the carers are wonderful with her, even when she is having a growl! The art and craft activities are great and even with failing eye sight they make sure there are nice singalongs and quizzes and communal films to keep the residents all going during the day. We call it her care hotel as she has amazing attention and lovely meals. The owner/managers run it very much as a family oriented home and are also part of everything. Communication is easy and responsive and they react quickly to any queries or suggestions. In fact, I will have my name down when the time comes!

Into fifth year at Strathmore Lodge. My mum is really well cared for and her care changes appropriately as her dementia advances. Keeping her stimulated (activities) are important and really excellent. It's a small home with a very homely feel (not a hospital/clinical environment at all). The staff are incredible - like a family - staff turnover is low and agency staff not needed. Managers are there most of the time and involved in all aspects of care as well as managing the home. Genuine care.

Strathmore Lodge is a wonderful home, I really couldn't ask for anything more. The staff are so caring and friendly, looking after the residents and making them feel completely at home and included. The transition from home for my mum was easy and the staff go the extra mile to ensure all residents are comfortable and lead as independent a life as possible. There are personal touches all round the building and Mum's room is comfortable and cosy. Communication from the manager and other staff members is great, via family group messaging, and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has Alzheimers and gets easily confused, but the staff are supportive, both to Mum and us as a family, which is such a comfort to us all. I have been so impressed with the home as a whole and have enjoyed visiting Mum and getting to know staff and residents. It has a real family home feel, which is obvious from the moment you enter the building. We are so lucky that Strathmore Lodge exists!
