Mum moved into Fairlawn in May at first I was very anxious whether she would settle in there, as such a huge change from being in your own home, or so I thought. Fairlawn is a small 24 bed residential home, and because of that the residents don't get forgotten or left unattended like some of the bigger
homes. I shouldn't have worried, about mum settling in, she is very happy there and absolutely loves it! In fact it is the happiest I have seen her in a long time as she has staff there all the time who care about them all as if they were their own relatives & love their jobs! They are all amazing, and very welcoming to everyone who walks through the door. They have activities each day to help the residents keep their minds active plus be able to mix with each other. Their menu is varied and very appetising! Any issues that arise or need sorting are dealt with straight away. I would definitely recommend Fairlawn to anyone looking for a place for a loved one to stay and call home.

I have been going to Fairlawn to visit a friend from my local church for over 6 months now. Visiting is always a delight not just seeing my friend but the whole experience. The staff are always helpful, very friendly and informative. I find nothing is too much bother for them. I often turn up when
the activities are going on where most residents participate and seem to enjoy it. My friend informs me that she is very happy there. Loves her room, staff and meals.

As soon as I walked through the door I knew Fairlawn was the place for our family, its warm and homely atmosphere makes you feel like you're still right at home. There's always so much happening, the activities are varied and regular, the food delicious and the girls are always happy and chatty.
The
management team and owner are always around to speak to and it's lovely to be able to catch up if we need to.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.816)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.816) out of 10 for Fairlawn Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.941 for Fairlawn Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (32 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 34 Ratings = 4.941

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fairlawn Residential Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.625

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have been working in care for 20+ years. I first began working in a small care home as a domestic assistant. Very quickly I developed a passion for the elderly and their amazing stories of the past. I became a carer and lets just say the rest is history. I went on to become a senior carer, deputy manager then completing my Leadership and Management Level 5 to become a registered manager.
I am happily married with 4 children, 2 stepsons and a number of grandchildren. In my spare time I enjoy taking my two dogs on long walks. Most of all I enjoy holidaying in the sunshine.
